Kaz 5, 1-20

1 Keep your foot when you go to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil. 2 Be not rash with your mouth, and let not your heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and you upon earth: therefore let your words be few. 3 "For a dream comes through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words. " 4 "When you vow a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he has no pleasure in fools: pay that which you have vowed. " 5 Better is it that you should not vow, than that you should vow and not pay. 6 "Suffer not your mouth to cause your flesh to sin; neither say you before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at your voice, and destroy the work of your hands? " 7 For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: but fear you God. 8 "If you see the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regards; and there be higher than they. " 9 Moreover the profit of the earth is for all: the king himself is served by the field. 10 "He that loves silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loves abundance with increase: this is also vanity. " 11 When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what good is there to the owners thereof, saving the beholding of them with their eyes? 12 The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep. 13 There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt. 14 But those riches perish by evil travail: and he bring forths a son, and there is nothing in his hand. 15 As he came out of his mother's womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand. 16 And this also is a sore evil, that in all points as he came, so shall he go: and what profit has he that has laboured for the wind? 17 All his days also he eats in darkness, and he has much sorrow and wrath with his sickness. 18 Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he takes under the sun all the days of his life, which God gives him: for it is his portion. 19 "Every man also to whom God has given riches and wealth, and has given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God. " 20 "For he shall not much remember the days of his life; because God answers him in the joy of his heart. "

Verš 18

Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he takes under the sun all the days of his life, which God gives him: for it is his portion.

Kaz 2:24 - There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.

Kaz 3:12 - I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.

Kaz 3:22 - "Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him? "

Kaz 9:7 - "Go your way, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart; for God now accepts your works. "

Kaz 11:9 - "Rejoice, O young man, in your youth; and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth, and walk in the ways of your heart, and in the sight of your eyes: but know you, that for all these things God will bring you into judgment. "

Kaz 2:10 - "And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour. "

Verš 15

As he came out of his mother's womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand.

Ž 49:17 - For when he dies he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.

Verš 4

"When you vow a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he has no pleasure in fools: pay that which you have vowed. "

Nm 30:2 - "If a man vow a vow unto the LORD, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth. "

Dt 23:21 - "When you shall vow a vow unto the LORD your God, you shall not slack to pay it: for the LORD your God will surely require it of you; and it would be sin in you. "

Verš 5

Better is it that you should not vow, than that you should vow and not pay.

Verš 7

For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: but fear you God.

Prís 10:19 - In the multitude of words there wants not sin: but he that refrains his lips is wise.

Kaz 5,2 - Myšlienka s obmenou sa opakuje vo verši 6.

Kaz 5,5 - "Posol" je podľa všetkého kňaz. Vulg má "anjel". Veď kňaz ako zástupca Boží prevzal učinený sľub (Lv 27,1 n.).

Kaz 5,7-8 - Hoci absolutistická štátna forma, akou bolo izraelské kráľovstvo, prinášala často mnohé sociálne útlaky poddaným, predsa bola lepšia ako krajina, kde vládla anarchia. A takými bývali často staroveké krajiny púšte, s ktorými susedila i Palestína.

Kaz 5,13 - "Ak s ním narábajú zle" – mnohí navrhujú preklad: zhynie následkom pohromy.

Kaz 5,14 - "V hrsti uniesť" – iní prekladajú: svojou námahou nenadobudne ani toľko, aby mohol svojou rukou udeľovať (iným). Schudobnelý majiteľ nezanechá po sebe ničoho.

Kaz 5,16 - Ani boháč si nič nevezme zo svojho majetku na druhý svet; je iba strážcom často mŕtvych statkov, a to po celý svoj zemský život.
