Prís 13, 1-25

1 (UKJV) A wise son hears his father's instruction: but a scorner hears not rebuke.
1 (ROH) Múdry syn prijíma kázeň otcovu, ale posmievač nepočúva žehrania.

2 (UKJV) A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.
2 (ROH) Z ovocia svojich úst bude každý jesť dobré; ale duša tých, ktorí robia neverne, sa najie ukrutnosti.

3 (UKJV) He that keeps his mouth keeps his life: but he that opens wide his lips shall have destruction.
3 (ROH) Ten, kto strežie svoje ústa, ostríha svoju dušu; kto príliš roztvára svoje rty, na toho prijde zkaza.

4 (UKJV) The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
4 (ROH) Žiada si a nemá duša leňocha, a duša usilovných sa vytučí.

5 (UKJV) A righteous man hates lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and comes to shame.
5 (ROH) Spravedlivý nenávidí lživého slova, ale bezbožník sa zosmradí a bude sa hanbiť, až zrumenie.

6 (UKJV) Righteousness keeps him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthrows the sinner.
6 (ROH) Spravedlivosť strežie toho, ktorého cesta je bez úhony; ale bezbožnosť vyvráti toho, kto pácha hriech.

7 (UKJV) There is that makes himself rich, yet has nothing: there is that makes himself poor, yet has great riches.
7 (ROH) Niekto sa robí bohatým a nemá ničoho; a zase niekto sa robí chudobným, a má mnoho majetku.

8 (UKJV) The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor hears not rebuke.
8 (ROH) Výplatou duše človeka je jeho bohatstvo; ale chudobný nečuje žehrania.

9 (UKJV) The light of the righteous rejoices: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
9 (ROH) Svetlo spravedlivých svieti vesele, ale svieca bezbožných zhasne.

10 (UKJV) Only by pride comes contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
10 (ROH) Len pýchou pôsobí človek svár; ale u tých, ktorí sa radia, je múdrosť.

11 (UKJV) Wealth got by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathers by labour shall increase.
11 (ROH) Majetok, hriešne nadobudnutý, sa bude umenšovať; ale ten, kto sbiera rukou, rozmnoží.

12 (UKJV) Hope deferred makes the heart sick: but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.
12 (ROH) Očakávanie, ktoré sa odťahuje, robí srdce chorým; ale splnená žiadosť je stromom života.

13 (UKJV) Whoso despises the word shall be destroyed: but he that fears the commandment shall be rewarded.
13 (ROH) Ten, kto pohŕda slovom Božím, škodí sám sebe; ale tomu, kto sa bojí prikázania, bude odplatené.

14 (UKJV) The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
14 (ROH) Naučenie múdreho je prameňom života, vyhnúť sa osídlam smrti.

15 (UKJV) Good understanding gives favour: but the way of transgressors is hard.
15 (ROH) Dobrý rozum dodáva miloty; a cesta tých, ktorí robia neverne, je tvrdá.

16 (UKJV) Every prudent man deals with knowledge: but a fool lays open his folly.
16 (ROH) Každý opatrný robí umne; ale blázon rozprestiera bláznovstvo.

17 (UKJV) A wicked messenger falls into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.
17 (ROH) Bezbožný posol padne do zlého, ale verný zvest je lekárstvom.

18 (UKJV) Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuses instruction: but he that regards reproof shall be honoured.
18 (ROH) Chudoba a hanba stihne toho, kto opúšťa kázeň; ale ten, kto zachováva pokarhanie, bude ctený.

19 (UKJV) The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil.
19 (ROH) Splnená túžba je sladká duši; ale bláznom je ohavnosťou odstúpiť od zlého.

20 (UKJV) He that walks with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
20 (ROH) Ten, kto chodí s múdrymi, bude múdry; ale tomu, kto sa druží s bláznami, sa zle povodí.

21 (UKJV) Evil pursues sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repaid.
21 (ROH) Hriešnikov bude prenasledovať zlé; ale spravedlivým odplatí Bôh dobrým.

22 (UKJV) A good man left an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
22 (ROH) Dobrý zanecháva dedičstvo až synom synov, a majetok toho, kto hreší, je zachovaný spravedlivému.

23 (UKJV) Much food is in the tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for lack of judgment.
23 (ROH) Mnoho pokrmu je na čerstvo zoranej roli chudobných, a niekto hynie pre neporiadok.

24 (UKJV) He that spares his rod hates his son: but he that loves him chastens him early.
24 (ROH) Ten, kto zdržuje svoj prút, nenávidí svojho syna; ale ten, kto ho miluje, kázni ho zavčasu.

25 (UKJV) The righteous eats to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall lack.
25 (ROH) Spravedlivý jie do sýtosti svojej duše; ale život bezbožníkov trpí nedostatkom.

A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.
Prís 12:14 - A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.

Verš 6
Righteousness keeps him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthrows the sinner.
Prís 10:29 - The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.
Prís 11:3 - The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.
Prís 11:5 - The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.

There is that makes himself rich, yet has nothing: there is that makes himself poor, yet has great riches.
Prís 12:9 - He that is despised, and has a servant, is better than he that honors himself, and lacks bread.

The light of the righteous rejoices: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
Prís 4:18 - But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shines more and more unto the perfect day.
Jób 18:5 - Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine.
Jób 21:17 - How often is the candle of the wicked put out! and how often comes their destruction upon them! God distributes sorrows in his anger.

Every prudent man deals with knowledge: but a fool lays open his folly.
Prís 12:23 - A prudent man conceals knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaims foolishness.
Prís 15:2 - The tongue of the wise uses knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools pours out foolishness.

A good man left an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
Jób 15:29 - He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof upon the earth.
Jób 27:17 - He may prepare it, but the just shall put it on, and the innocent shall divide the silver.

Pris 13,13 - Vo Vulg je tu dvojverš, ktorý nie je v pôvodine; v LXX je za 9. veršom."Neúprimné duše blúdia v neprávostiach,spravodliví sú však sústrastní a milosrdní."

Pris 13,19 - Nečakaný myšlienkový prechod v dvojverši je znakom, že sa tu azda v pôvodine nejaký verš stratil.
