Gn 44, 1-34

1 (KAT) Hneď nato dal svojmu správcovi takýto rozkaz: „Naplň vrecia mužov potravinami, koľko len budú môcť uniesť, a každému do jeho vreca navrch polož jeho peniaze.
1 (VUL) Praecepit autem Ioseph dispensatori domus suae dicens: “ Imple saccos eorum frumento, quantum possunt capere, et pone pecuniam singulorum in summitate sacci.
1 (UKJV) And he commanded the steward of his house, saying, Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put every man's money in his sack's mouth.

2 (UKJV) And put my cup, the silver cup, in the sack's mouth of the youngest, and his corn money. And he did according to the word that Joseph had spoken.

3 (UKJV) As soon as the morning was light, the men were sent away, they and their asses.

4 (KAT) No len čo vyšli z mesta, ešte neboli ďaleko, povedal Jozef správcovi svojho domu: „Vstaň a pusť sa za tými mužmi a keď ich dostihneš, povedz im: »Prečo ste sa odplatili zlým za dobré?
Cur furati estis mihi scyphum argenteum?
4 (UKJV) "And when they were gone out of the city, and not yet far off, Joseph said unto his steward, Up, follow after the men; and when you do overtake them, say unto them, Wherefore have all of you rewarded evil for good? "

5 (KAT) Vari to nie je ten, z ktorého pije môj pán a z ktorého veští? Veľmi zle ste konali, keď ste to urobili.«“
5 (VUL) Nonne ipse est, in quo bibit dominus meus et in quo augurari solet? Pessimam rem fecistis!" ”.
5 (UKJV) Is not this it in which my lord drinks, and whereby indeed he divines? all of you have done evil in so doing.

6 (UKJV) And he overtook them, and he spoke unto them these same words.

7 (VUL) Qui responderunt: “ Quare sic loquitur dominus noster? Absit a servis tuis, ut tantum flagitii commiserimus.
7 (UKJV) And they said unto him, Wherefore says my lord these words? God forbid that your servants should do according to this thing:

8 (KAT) Pozri, z krajiny Kanaán sme ti priniesli späť peniaze, čo sme našli navrchu vo svojich vreciach. Akože by sme teda mohli kradnúť z domu tvojho pána striebro alebo zlato?
8 (UKJV) Behold, the money, which we found in our sacks' mouths, we brought again unto you out of the land of Canaan: how then should we steal out of your lord's house silver or gold?

9 (KAT) U koho z tvojich sluhov sa nájde, ten nech zomrie a my ostatní budeme otrokmi môjho pána!“
9 (VUL) Apud quemcumque fuerit inventum servorum tuorum, quod quaeris, moriatur; et nos erimus servi domini nostri ”.
9 (UKJV) With whomsoever of your servants it be found, both let him die, and we also will be my lord's bondmen.

10 (KAT) On im odpovedal: „Hoci by to malo byť podľa vašich slov, mojím otrokom však bude iba ten, u koho sa to nájde. Vy ostatní môžete voľne odísť.“
10 (VUL) Qui dixit eis: “ Fiat iuxta vestram sententiam: apud quemcumque fuerit inventum, ipse sit servus meus; vos autem eritis innoxii ”.
10 (UKJV) "And he said, Now also let it be according unto your words: he with whom it is found shall be my servant; and all of you shall be blameless. "

11 (KAT) Tu každý rýchlo zložil na zem svoje vrece a každý svoje vrece otvoril.
11 (VUL) Itaque festinato deponentes in terram saccos aperuerunt singuli.
11 (UKJV) Then they speedily took down every man his sack to the ground, and opened every man his sack.

12 (KAT) A on začal hľadať u najstaršieho a skončil pri najmladšom. Pohár sa našiel v Benjamínovom vreci.
12 (VUL) Quos scrutatus incipiens a maiore usque ad minimum invenit scyphum in sacco Beniamin.
12 (UKJV) And he searched, and began at the eldest, and left at the youngest: and the cup was found in Benjamin's sack.

13 (KAT) Tu si oni roztrhli odev, každý opäť naložil náklad na svojho osla a vrátili sa do mesta.
13 (VUL) At illi, scissis vestibus, oneratisque rursum asinis, reversi sunt in oppidum.
13 (UKJV) Then they rent their clothes, and laded every man his ass, and returned to the city.

14 (UKJV) "And Judah and his brethren came to Joseph's house; for he was yet there: and they fell before him on the ground. "

15 (VUL) Quibus ille ait: “ Cur sic agere voluistis? An ignoratis quod non sit similis mei in augurandi scientia? ”.
15 (UKJV) And Joseph said unto them, What deed is this that all of you have done? know all of you not that such a man as I can certainly divine?

16 (KAT) Vtedy Júda povedal: „Čo my môžeme povedať môjmu pánovi?
16 (VUL) Cui Iudas: “ Quid respondebimus, inquit, domino meo? Vel quid loquemur aut iuste poterimus obtendere? Deus invenit iniquitatem servorum tuorum; en omnes servi sumus domini mei, et nos et apud quem inventus est scyphus ”.
16 (UKJV) And Judah said, What shall we say unto my lord? what shall we speak? or how shall we clear ourselves? God has found out the iniquity of your servants: behold, we are my lord's servants, both we, and he also with whom the cup is found.

17 (KAT) Ale on odpovedal: „Nech je ďaleko odo mňa niečo také urobiť! Iba ten, u koho sa našiel pohár, bude mojím otrokom. Vy ostatní môžete v pokoji odísť k svojmu otcovi!“
17 (VUL) Respondit Ioseph: “ Absit a me, ut sic agam! Qui furatus est scyphum, ipse sit servus meus; vos autem abite liberi ad patrem vestrum ”.
17 (UKJV) "And he said, God forbid that I should do so: but the man in whose hand the cup is found, he shall be my servant; and as for you, get you up in peace unto your father. "

18 (KAT) Tu pristúpil k nemu Júda a vravel: „Pán môj, dovoľ, aby ti tvoj sluha povedal pár slov! Nehnevaj sa preto na svojho sluhu! Veď ty si ako faraón!
18 (VUL) Accedens autem propius Iudas confidenter ait: “ Oro, domine mi, loquatur servus tuus verbum in auribus tuis, et ne irascaris famulo tuo; tu es enim sicut pharao!
18 (UKJV) Then Judah came near unto him, and said, Oh my lord, let your servant, I pray you, speak a word in my lord's ears, and let not your anger burn against your servant: for you are even as Pharaoh.

19 (VUL) Dominus meus interrogavit prius servos suos: "Habetis patrem aut fratrem?".
19 (UKJV) My lord asked his servants, saying, Have all of you a father, or a brother?

20 (KAT) My sme vtedy odpovedali môjmu pánovi: »Máme ešte staručkého otca a tiež dosť neskoro narodeného malého brata.
20 (VUL) Et nos respondimus domino meo: "Est nobis pater senex et puer parvulus, qui in senectute illius natus est, cuius uterinus frater mortuus est; et ipse solus superest a matre sua, pater vero tenere diligit eum" ”.
20 (UKJV) "And we said unto my lord, We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, a little one; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother, and his father loves him. "

21 (KAT) Vtedy si rozkázal svojim sluhom: »Priveďte ho sem ku mne, aby som ho videl na vlastné oči!«
21 (VUL) Dixistique servis tuis: "Adducite eum ad me, et ponam oculos meos super illum".
21 (UKJV) And you said unto your servants, Bring him down unto me, that I may set mine eyes upon him.

22 (KAT) My sme môjmu pánovi odpovedali: »Chlapec nemôže opustiť svojho otca. Ak opustí svojho otca, ten isto zomrie!«
22 (VUL) Suggessimus domino meo: "Non potest puer relinquere patrem suum; si enim illum dimiserit, morietur".
22 (UKJV) And we said unto my lord, The lad cannot leave his father: for if he should leave his father, his father would die.

23 (KAT) Na to si ty odpovedal svojim sluhom: »Ak váš najmladší brat nepríde s vami, neukazujte sa mi viac na oči!«
23 (VUL) Et dixisti servis tuis: "Nisi venerit frater vester minimus vobiscum, non videbitis amplius faciem meam".
23 (UKJV) And you said unto your servants, Except your youngest brother come down with you, all of you shall see my face no more.

24 (UKJV) And it came to pass when we came up unto your servant my father, we told him the words of my lord.

25 (KAT) A keď potom náš otec vravel: »Nože choďte a kúpte nám trochu potravy!«,
25 (VUL) et dixit pater noster: "Revertimini et emite nobis parum tritici".
25 (UKJV) And our father said, Go again, and buy us a little food.

26 (KAT) my sme mu odvrávali: »My nemôžeme ísť.
26 (UKJV) And we said, We cannot go down: if our youngest brother be with us, then will we go down: for we may not see the man's face, except our youngest brother be with us.

27 (KAT) Vtedy nám povedal tvoj sluha, náš otec: »Vy viete, že moja žena mi porodila len dvoch.
27 (VUL) Ad quae servus tuus pater meus respondit: "Vos scitis quod duos genuerit mihi uxor mea.
27 (UKJV) And your servant my father said unto us, All of you know that my wife bare me two sons:

28 (KAT) Jeden odo mňa odišiel tak, že som musel povedať: Istotne je roztrhaný, roztrhaný! - a dodnes som ho nevidel.
28 (VUL) Egressus est unus a me, et dixi: Bestia devoravit eum! Et hucusque non comparet.
28 (UKJV) "And the one went out from me, and I said, Surely he is torn in pieces; and I saw him not since: "

29 (UKJV) And if all of you take this also from me, and mischief befall him, all of you shall bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.

30 (KAT) Keby som teraz prišiel k tvojmu sluhovi, môjmu otcovi, a chlapec, na ktorom on lipne celou dušou, by nebol s nami,
30 (UKJV) "Now therefore when I come to your servant my father, and the lad be not with us; seeing that his life is bound up in the lad's life; "

31 (KAT) on by zomrel, keby videl, že chlapec nie je s nami, a tvoji sluhovia by naozaj priviedli šediny tvojho sluhu, nášho otca, od bôľu do podsvetia!
31 (UKJV) It shall come to pass, when he sees that the lad is not with us, that he will die: and your servants shall bring down the gray hairs of your servant our father with sorrow to the grave.

32 (KAT) A pretože sa tvoj sluha otcovi za chlapca zaručil slovami: »Ak ti ho neprivediem späť, celý svoj život budem vinný pred tebou,«
32 (VUL) Servus tuus pro puero patri meo spopondit: Nisi reduxero eum, peccati reus ero in patrem meum omni tempore.
32 (UKJV) For your servant became guarantor for the lad unto my father, saying, If I bring him not unto you, then I shall bear the blame to my father for ever.

Chlapec však nech odíde so svojimi bratmi!
33 (UKJV) "Now therefore, I pray you, let your servant abide instead of the lad a bondman to my lord; and let the lad go up with his brethren. "

34 (UKJV) For how shall I go up to my father, and the lad be not with me? lest possibly I see the evil that shall come on my father.
