1 (KAT) Keď Samuel ostarel, ustanovil za sudcov Izraela svojich synov.
1 (VUL) Factum est autem cum senuis set, Samuel posuit filios suos iu dices Israel.
1 (UKJV) And it came to pass, when Samuel was old, that he made his sons judges over Israel.

2 (KAT) Jeho prvorodený sa volal Joel, druhý mal meno Abia; boli sudcami v Bersabe.

5 (UKJV) And said unto him, Behold, you are old, and your sons walk not in your ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.

6 (KAT) Ale Samuelovi sa nepáčilo, keď mu hovorili: „Daj nám kráľa, nech panuje nad nami!“ Preto sa Samuel modlil k Pánovi.
6 (VUL) Displicuitque sermo in oculis Samuelis, eo quod dixissent: “ Da nobis regem, ut iudicet nos ”. Et oravit Samuel ad Dominum.
6 (UKJV) But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD.

7 (KAT) A Pán povedal Samuelovi: „Vypočuj hlas ľudu vo všetkom, čo ti povedia, veď nie tebou opovrhli, opovrhli mnou, aby som nekraľoval nad nimi.
7 (VUL) Dixit autem Dominus ad Samuel: “ Audi vocem populi in omnibus, quae loquuntur tibi; non enim te abiecerunt, sed me abiecerunt, ne regnem super eos.
7 (UKJV) And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto you: for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.

8 (KAT) Podobne, ako robili odo dňa, keď som ich vyviedol z Egypta, až po tento deň, že ma opustili a slúžili iným bohom, tak robia aj tebe.
8 (VUL) Iuxta omnia opera sua, quae fecerunt a die, qua eduxi eos de Aegypto, usque ad diem hanc, sicut dereliquerunt me et servierunt diis alienis, sic faciunt etiam tibi.
8 (UKJV) According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, wherewith they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto you.

9 (KAT) Vypočuj ich hlas, ale dôrazne ich upozorni a vylož im právo kráľa, ktorý bude nad nimi kraľovať!“
9 (VUL) Nunc ergo audi vocem eorum; verumtamen contestare eos et praedic eis ius regis, qui regnaturus est super eos ”.
9 (UKJV) Now therefore hearken unto their voice: nevertheless yet protest solemnly unto them, and show them the manner of the king that shall reign over them.

10 (KAT) Samuel oznámil všetky Pánove slová ľudu, ktorý od neho požadoval kráľa.
10 (VUL) Dixit itaque Samuel omnia verba Domini ad populum, qui petierat a se regem,
10 (UKJV) And Samuel told all the words of the LORD unto the people that asked of him a king.

11 (KAT) I povedal: „Toto bude právo kráľa, ktorý bude nad vami panovať: Vašich synov vezme a postaví ich k svojim vozom a k svojim koňom a budú bežať pred jeho vozom.
11 (VUL) et ait: “ Hoc erit ius regis, qui imperaturus est vobis: Filios vestros tollet et ponet in curribus suis facietque sibi equites, et current ante quadrigas eius;
11 (UKJV) "And he said, This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots. "

18 (UKJV) "And all of you shall cry out in that day because of your king which all of you shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day. "

19 (KAT) Ľud však nechcel ani počuť Samuelov hlas a vravel: „Nie, ale nech je nad nami kráľ!
19 (VUL) Noluit autem populus audire vocem Samuel, sed dixerunt: “ Nequaquam: rex enim erit super nos,
19 (UKJV) "Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us; "

20 (UKJV) "That we also may be like all the nations; and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles. "

21 (KAT) Samuel vypočul všetky reči ľudu a predniesol ich Pánovi.
21 (VUL) Et audivit Samuel omnia verba populi et locutus est ea in auribus Domini.

22 (UKJV) And the LORD said to Samuel, Hearken unto their voice, and make them a king. And Samuel said unto the men of Israel, Go all of you every man unto his city.
