1 (HEM) ויהי דבר שמואל לכל ישראל ויצא ישראל לקראת פלשתים למלחמה ויחנו על האבן העזר ופלשתים חנו באפק׃
1 (KAT) Samuelovo slovo znelo celému Izraelu. Izrael tiahol do boja proti Filištíncom a utáboril sa pri Aben-Ezre, Filištínci zas táborili v Afeku.
1 (UKJV) And the word of Samuel came to all Israel. Now Israel went out against the Philistines to battle, and pitched beside Ebenezer: and the Philistines pitched in Aphek.

2 (HEM) ויערכו פלשתים לקראת ישראל ותטש המלחמה וינגף ישראל לפני פלשתים ויכו במערכה בשדה כארבעת אלפים איש׃
2 (KAT) Filištínci nastúpili proti Izraelu, rozpútal sa boj a Izrael podľahol Filištíncom, ktorí v bitke na poli zabili asi štyritisíc mužov.
2 (UKJV) And the Philistines put themselves in array against Israel: and when they joined battle, Israel was smitten before the Philistines: and they slew of the army in the field about four thousand men.

3 (HEM) ויבא העם אל המחנה ויאמרו זקני ישראל למה נגפנו יהוה היום לפני פלשתים נקחה אלינו משלה את ארון ברית יהוה ויבא בקרבנו וישענו מכף איבינו׃
3 (KAT) Ľud išiel do tábora a starší Izraela hovorili: „Prečo nás Pán dnes porazil pred Filištíncami? Donesme sem zo Šíla Pánovu archu zmluvy, nech tiahne uprostred nás a nech nás vyslobodí z ruky našich nepriateľov!“
3 (UKJV) And when the people were come into the camp, the elders of Israel said, Wherefore has the LORD smitten us to day before the Philistines? Let us fetch the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of Shiloh unto us, that, when it comes among us, it may save us out of the hand of our enemies.

4 (HEM) וישלח העם שלה וישאו משם את ארון ברית יהוה צבאות ישב הכרבים ושם שני בני עלי עם ארון ברית האלהים חפני ופינחס׃
4 (KAT) Ľud poslal do Šíla i doniesli odtiaľ archu zmluvy Pána zástupov, ktorý sídli nad cherubmi. Pri Božej arche zmluvy boli dvaja Héliho synovia, Ofni a Finés.
4 (UKJV) So the people sent to Shiloh, that they might bring from thence the ark of the covenant of the LORD of hosts, which dwells between the cherubims: and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.

5 (HEM) ויהי כבוא ארון ברית יהוה אל המחנה וירעו כל ישראל תרועה גדולה ותהם הארץ׃
5 (KAT) Keď archa zmluvy došla do tábora, zajasal celý Izrael veľkým jasotom, až dunela zem.
5 (UKJV) And when the ark of the covenant of the LORD came into the camp, all Israel shouted with a great shout, so that the earth rang again.

6 (HEM) וישמעו פלשתים את קול התרועה ויאמרו מה קול התרועה הגדולה הזאת במחנה העברים וידעו כי ארון יהוה בא אל המחנה׃
6 (KAT) Keď Filištínci počuli jasavý krik, pýtali sa: „Čo znamená tento zvučný, veľký jasot v tábore Hebrejov?“ I dozvedeli sa, že do tábora prišla archa zmluvy.
6 (UKJV) And when the Philistines heard the noise of the shout, they said, What means the noise of this great shout in the camp of the Hebrews? And they understood that the ark of the LORD was come into the camp.

7 (HEM) ויראו הפלשתים כי אמרו בא אלהים אל המחנה ויאמרו אוי לנו כי לא היתה כזאת אתמול שלשם׃
7 (KAT) Filištínci sa naľakali a vraveli: „Prišiel Boh do tábora!“ A volali: „Beda nám! Veru včera a predvčerom to nebolo takto!
7 (UKJV) And the Philistines were afraid, for they said, God has come into the camp. And they said, Woe unto us! for there has not been such a thing in time past.

8 (HEM) אוי לנו מי יצילנו מיד האלהים האדירים האלה אלה הם האלהים המכים את מצרים בכל מכה במדבר׃
8 (KAT) Beda nám! Ktože nás vytrhne z ruky tohoto mocného Božstva, ktoré bilo Egypt rozličnými ranami na púšti?
8 (UKJV) Woe unto us! who shall deliver us out of the hand of these mighty Gods? these are the Gods that stroke the Egyptians with all the plagues in the wilderness.

9 (HEM) התחזקו והיו לאנשים פלשתים פן תעבדו לעברים כאשר עבדו לכם והייתם לאנשים ונלחמתם׃
9 (KAT) Vzchopte sa, vzmužte sa, Filištínci, aby ste nemuseli slúžiť Hebrejom, ako oni slúžili vám! Nuž buďte chlapi a bojujte!“
9 (UKJV) Be strong and quit yourselves like men, O all of you Philistines, that all of you be not servants unto the Hebrews, as they have been to you: quit yourselves like men, and fight.

10 (HEM) וילחמו פלשתים וינגף ישראל וינסו איש לאהליו ותהי המכה גדולה מאד ויפל מישראל שלשים אלף רגלי׃
10 (KAT) Nato sa Filištínci dali do boja a Izraeliti podľahli; utekal každý do svojho stanu. Porážka bola veľmi veľká, z Izraelitov padlo tridsaťtisíc pešiakov.
10 (UKJV) "And the Philistines fought, and Israel was smitten, and they fled every man into his tent: and there was a very great slaughter; for there fell of Israel thirty thousand footmen. "

11 (HEM) וארון אלהים נלקח ושני בני עלי מתו חפני ופינחס׃
11 (KAT) Archu zmluvy ukoristili a dvaja Héliho synovia, Ofni a Finés, zomreli.
11 (UKJV) "And the ark of God was taken; and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were slain. "

12 (HEM) וירץ איש בנימן מהמערכה ויבא שלה ביום ההוא ומדיו קרעים ואדמה על ראשו׃
12 (KAT) Akýsi Benjamínec utekal zo šíku a v ten deň došiel do Šíla. Odev mal roztrhnutý a na hlave mal zem.
12 (UKJV) And there ran a man of Benjamin out of the army, and came to Shiloh the same day with his clothes rent, and with earth upon his head.

13 (HEM) ויבוא והנה עלי ישב על הכסא יך דרך מצפה כי היה לבו חרד על ארון האלהים והאיש בא להגיד בעיר ותזעק כל העיר׃
13 (KAT) Keď došiel, Héli sedel na kresle a pozoroval cestu, lebo sa mu srdce triaslo o Božiu archu zmluvy! Muž teda došiel, podal správu v meste a celé mesto zakvílilo.
13 (UKJV) And when he came, lo, Eli sat upon a seat by the wayside watching: for his heart trembled for the ark of God. And when the man came into the city, and told it, all the city cried out.

14 (HEM) וישמע עלי את קול הצעקה ויאמר מה קול ההמון הזה והאיש מהר ויבא ויגד לעלי׃
14 (KAT) Keď Héli počul hlasné volanie, spýtal sa: „Čo znamená ten hlasný krik?“ Nato muž rýchlo prišiel a podal správu Hélimu.
14 (UKJV) And when Eli heard the noise of the crying, he said, What means the noise of this tumult? And the man came in hastily, and told Eli.

15 (HEM) ועלי בן תשעים ושמנה שנה ועיניו קמה ולא יכול לראות׃
15 (KAT) Héli bol deväťdesiatosemročný, oči mal stŕpnuté, nevidel.
15 (UKJV) "Now Eli was ninety and eight years old; and his eyes were dim, that he could not see. "

16 (HEM) ויאמר האיש אל עלי אנכי הבא מן המערכה ואני מן המערכה נסתי היום ויאמר מה היה הדבר בני׃
16 (KAT) Ten muž povedal Hélimu: „Ja prichádzam z bojiska. Dnes som utiekol z bojiska.“ I spýtal sa ho: „Čo sa stalo, syn môj?“
16 (UKJV) And the man said unto Eli, I am he that came out of the army, and I fled to day out of the army. And he said, What is there done, my son?

17 (HEM) ויען המבשר ויאמר נס ישראל לפני פלשתים וגם מגפה גדולה היתה בעם וגם שני בניך מתו חפני ופינחס וארון האלהים נלקחה׃
17 (KAT) Posol odvetil: „Izrael ušiel pred Filištíncami, ľud utrpel veľkú porážku, zomreli aj obaja tvoji synovia Ofni a Finés a Božia archa padla za korisť.“
17 (UKJV) And the messenger answered and said, Israel is fled before the Philistines, and there has been also a great slaughter among the people, and your two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God is taken.

18 (HEM) ויהי כהזכירו את ארון האלהים ויפל מעל הכסא אחרנית בעד יד השער ותשבר מפרקתו וימת כי זקן האיש וכבד והוא שפט את ישראל ארבעים שנה׃
18 (KAT) Len čo spomenul Božiu archu, (Héli) padol z kresla nazad k bráne, zlomil si väz a zomrel. Bol to starý a ťažký človek. Súdil Izrael štyridsať rokov.
18 (UKJV) And it came to pass, when he made mention of the ark of God, that he fell from off the seat backward by the side of the gate, and his neck brake, and he died: for he was an old man, and heavy. And he had judged Israel forty years.

19 (HEM) וכלתו אשת פינחס הרה ללת ותשמע את השמעה אל הלקח ארון האלהים ומת חמיה ואישה ותכרע ותלד כי נהפכו עליה צריה׃
19 (KAT) Jeho nevesta, Finésova manželka, bola ťarchavá, blízo pôrodu. Keď počula chýr o zajatí Božej archy a že jej zomrel svokor a manžel, klesla a porodila, lebo ju zachvátili bolesti.
19 (UKJV) "And his daughter in law, Phinehas' wife, was with child, near to be delivered: and when she heard the tidings that the ark of God was taken, and that her father in law and her husband were dead, she bowed herself and travailed; for her pains came upon her. "

20 (HEM) וכעת מותה ותדברנה הנצבות עליה אל תיראי כי בן ילדת ולא ענתה ולא שתה לבה׃
20 (KAT) A keď zomierala, hovorili jej okolostojace: „Neboj sa, veď si porodila syna!“ Ale neodpovedala, ani si toho nevšimla.
20 (UKJV) "And about the time of her death the women that stood by her said unto her, Fear not; for you have born a son. But she answered not, neither did she regard it. "

21 (HEM) ותקרא לנער אי כבוד לאמר גלה כבוד מישראל אל הלקח ארון האלהים ואל חמיה ואישה׃
21 (KAT) Chlapca však nazvala Ichabod, hovoriac: „Odišla sláva od Izraela,“ pre zajatie Božej archy a pre svojho svokra a manžela.
21 (UKJV) And she named the child Ichabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel: because the ark of God was taken, and because of her father in law and her husband.

22 (HEM) ותאמר גלה כבוד מישראל כי נלקח ארון האלהים׃
22 (KAT) Hovorila: „Odišla sláva od Izraela, lebo ukoristili Božiu archu.“
22 (UKJV) And she said, The glory is departed from Israel: for the ark of God is taken.
