1 (HEM) והנער שמואל משרת את יהוה לפני עלי ודבר יהוה היה יקר בימים ההם אין חזון נפרץ׃
1 (UKJV) "And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision. "

2 (HEM) ויהי ביום ההוא ועלי שכב במקמו ועינו החלו כהות לא יוכל לראות׃
2 (UKJV) "And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see; "

3 (HEM) ונר אלהים טרם יכבה ושמואל שכב בהיכל יהוה אשר שם ארון אלהים׃
3 (UKJV) "And before the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep; "

4 (HEM) ויקרא יהוה אל שמואל ויאמר הנני׃
4 (UKJV) That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.

5 (HEM) וירץ אל עלי ויאמר הנני כי קראת לי ויאמר לא קראתי שוב שכב וילך וישכב׃
5 (UKJV) "And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here am I; for you called me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down. "

6 (HEM) ויסף יהוה קרא עוד שמואל ויקם שמואל וילך אל עלי ויאמר הנני כי קראת לי ויאמר לא קראתי בני שוב שכב׃
6 (UKJV) "And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for you did call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again. "

7 (HEM) ושמואל טרם ידע את יהוה וטרם יגלה אליו דבר יהוה׃
7 (UKJV) Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him.

8 (HEM) ויסף יהוה קרא שמואל בשלשית ויקם וילך אל עלי ויאמר הנני כי קראת לי ויבן עלי כי יהוה קרא לנער׃
8 (UKJV) "And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for you did call me. And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child. "

9 (HEM) ויאמר עלי לשמואל לך שכב והיה אם יקרא אליך ואמרת דבר יהוה כי שמע עבדך וילך שמואל וישכב במקומו׃
9 (UKJV) "Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call you, that you shall say, Speak, LORD; for your servant hears. So Samuel went and lay down in his place. "

10 (HEM) ויבא יהוה ויתיצב ויקרא כפעם בפעם שמואל שמואל ויאמר שמואל דבר כי שמע עבדך׃
10 (UKJV) "And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for your servant hears. "

11 (HEM) ויאמר יהוה אל שמואל הנה אנכי עשה דבר בישראל אשר כל שמעו תצלינה שתי אזניו׃
11 (UKJV) And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that hears it shall tingle.

12 (HEM) ביום ההוא אקים אל עלי את כל אשר דברתי אל ביתו החל וכלה׃
12 (UKJV) In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end.

13 (HEM) והגדתי לו כי שפט אני את ביתו עד עולם בעון אשר ידע כי מקללים להם בניו ולא כהה בם׃
13 (UKJV) "For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knows; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not. "

14 (HEM) ולכן נשבעתי לבית עלי אם יתכפר עון בית עלי בזבח ובמנחה עד עולם׃
14 (UKJV) And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli's house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering for ever.

15 (HEM) וישכב שמואל עד הבקר ויפתח את דלתות בית יהוה ושמואל ירא מהגיד את המראה אל עלי׃
15 (UKJV) And Samuel lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the house of the LORD. And Samuel feared to show Eli the vision.

16 (HEM) ויקרא עלי את שמואל ויאמר שמואל בני ויאמר הנני׃
16 (UKJV) Then Eli called Samuel, and said, Samuel, my son. And he answered, Here am I.

17 (HEM) ויאמר מה הדבר אשר דבר אליך אל נא תכחד ממני כה יעשה לך אלהים וכה יוסיף אם תכחד ממני דבר מכל הדבר אשר דבר אליך׃
17 (UKJV) And he said, What is the thing that the LORD has said unto you? I pray you hide it not from me: God do so to you, and more also, if you hide any thing from me of all the things that he said unto you.

18 (HEM) ויגד לו שמואל את כל הדברים ולא כחד ממנו ויאמר יהוה הוא הטוב בעינו יעשה׃
18 (UKJV) And Samuel told him everything, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is the LORD: let him do what seems him good.

19 (HEM) ויגדל שמואל ויהוה היה עמו ולא הפיל מכל דבריו ארצה׃
19 (UKJV) And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.

20 (HEM) וידע כל ישראל מדן ועד באר שבע כי נאמן שמואל לנביא ליהוה׃
20 (UKJV) And all Israel from Dan even to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of the LORD.

21 (HEM) ויסף יהוה להראה בשלה כי נגלה יהוה אל שמואל בשלו בדבר יהוה׃
21 (UKJV) And the LORD appeared again in Shiloh: for the LORD revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the LORD.
