1 (HEM) ויאמר דוד אל לבו עתה אספה יום אחד ביד שאול אין לי טוב כי המלט אמלט אל ארץ פלשתים ונואש ממני שאול לבקשני עוד בכל גבול ישראל ונמלטתי מידו׃
1 (KAT) Nato Dávid odišiel svojou cestou a Šaul sa vrátil domov. Dávid si povedal: „Jedného dňa ma Šaulova ruka predsa len zmárni. Niet pre mňa nič lepšieho ako ujsť do krajiny Filištíncov. Šaul ma prestane hľadať po celom izraelskom území a vyslobodím sa z jeho ruky.“
1 (UKJV) "And David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: there is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul shall despair of me, to seek me any more in any coast of Israel: so shall I escape out of his hand. "

2 (HEM) ויקם דוד ויעבר הוא ושש מאות איש אשר עמו אל אכיש בן מעוך מלך גת׃
2 (KAT) S tým sa Dávid vybral a išiel - on i šesťsto mužov, ktorí boli s ním - k Maochovmu synovi Achisovi, kráľovi Gétu.
2 (UKJV) And David arose, and he passed over with the six hundred men that were with him unto Achish, the son of Maoch, king of Gath.

3 (HEM) וישב דוד עם אכיש בגת הוא ואנשיו איש וביתו דוד ושתי נשיו אחינעם היזרעאלית ואביגיל אשת נבל הכרמלית׃
3 (KAT) Dávid sa usadil pri Achisovi v Géte, on i jeho mužovia, každý so svojou rodinou, Dávid so svojimi dvoma ženami, Jezraelitkou Achinoamou a ženou karmelského Nábala Abigail.
3 (UKJV) And David dwelt with Achish at Gath, he and his men, every man with his household, even David with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabal's wife.

4 (HEM) ויגד לשאול כי ברח דוד גת ולא יוסף עוד לבקשו׃
4 (KAT) Keď Šaulovi oznámili, že Dávid utiekol do Gétu, neprenasledoval ho viac.
4 (UKJV) And it was told Saul that David was fled to Gath: and he sought no more again for him.

5 (HEM) ויאמר דוד אל אכיש אם נא מצאתי חן בעיניך יתנו לי מקום באחת ערי השדה ואשבה שם ולמה ישב עבדך בעיר הממלכה עמך׃
5 (KAT) Ale Dávid povedal Achisovi: „Ak som našiel milosť v tvojich očiach, nech mi dajú miesto v niektorom okolitom meste, aby som sa tam usadil. Prečo by mal zostať tvoj služobník v kráľovskom meste s tebou?“
5 (UKJV) And David said unto Achish, If I have now found grace in your eyes, let them give me a place in some town in the country, that I may dwell there: for why should your servant dwell in the royal city with you?

6 (HEM) ויתן לו אכיש ביום ההוא את צקלג לכן היתה צקלג למלכי יהודה עד היום הזה׃
6 (KAT) A Achis mu dal v ten deň Sikeleg. Preto patrí Sikeleg júdskym kráľom až po dnešný deň.
6 (UKJV) Then Achish gave him Ziklag that day: wherefore Ziklag pertains unto the kings of Judah unto this day.

7 (HEM) ויהי מספר הימים אשר ישב דוד בשדה פלשתים ימים וארבעה חדשים׃
7 (KAT) Počet dní, za ktoré Dávid býval v okolí Filištíncov, bol rok a štyri mesiace.
7 (UKJV) And the time that David dwelt in the country of the Philistines was a full year and four months.

8 (HEM) ויעל דוד ואנשיו ויפשטו אל הגשורי והגרזי והעמלקי כי הנה ישבות הארץ אשר מעולם בואך שורה ועד ארץ מצרים׃
8 (KAT) Dávid a jeho mužovia sa vybrali a napadli Gesurcov, Gerzitov a Amalekitov, lebo oni obývali krajinu, ktorou sa od pradávna chodilo do Šúru a až do egyptskej krajiny.
8 (UKJV) And David and his men went up, and invaded the Geshurites, and the Gezrites, and the Amalekites: for those nations were of old the inhabitants of the land, as you go to Shur, even unto the land of Egypt.

9 (HEM) והכה דוד את הארץ ולא יחיה איש ואשה ולקח צאן ובקר וחמרים וגמלים ובגדים וישב ויבא אל אכיש׃
9 (KAT) Kedykoľvek Dávid vtrhol do krajiny, nenechal nažive ani mužov, ani ženy, zobral ovce, dobytok, osly, ťavy a šatstvo, a potom zase išiel k Achisovi.
9 (UKJV) And David stroke the land, and left neither man nor woman alive, and took away the sheep, and the oxen, and the asses, and the camels, and the apparel, and returned, and came to Achish.

10 (HEM) ויאמר אכיש אל פשטתם היום ויאמר דוד על נגב יהודה ועל נגב הירחמאלי ואל נגב הקיני׃
10 (KAT) Keď sa ho Achis spýtal: „Koho ste dnes napadli?“ Dávid odpovedal: „Júdsku rovinu“ alebo: „Rovinu Jerameel,“ alebo: „Rovinu Kinejcov.“
10 (UKJV) And Achish said, Where have all of you made a road to day? And David said, Against the south of Judah, and against the south of the Jerahmeelites, and against the south of the Kenites.

11 (HEM) ואיש ואשה לא יחיה דוד להביא גת לאמר פן יגדו עלינו לאמר כה עשה דוד וכה משפטו כל הימים אשר ישב בשדה פלשתים׃
11 (KAT) Dávid nenechal nažive ani mužov, ani ženy, aby ich nemusel priviesť do Gétu. Vravel si: „Aby nerozprávali proti nám: »Dávid robil to a to.«“ Tak to robil celý čas, čo býval v krajine Filištíncov.
11 (UKJV) And David saved neither man nor woman alive, to bring tidings to Gath, saying, Lest they should inform against us, saying, So did David, and so will be his manner all the while he dwells in the country of the Philistines.

12 (HEM) ויאמן אכיש בדוד לאמר הבאש הבאיש בעמו בישראל והיה לי לעבד עולם׃
12 (KAT) Achis teda dôveroval Dávidovi, mysliac si: „Úplne sa zošklivil svojmu ľudu, Izraelu, bude mi večne sluhom.“
12 (UKJV) "And Achish believed David, saying, He has made his people Israel utterly to detest him; therefore he shall be my servant for ever. "
