1 (HEM) ותתפלל חנה ותאמר עלץ לבי ביהוה רמה קרני ביהוה רחב פי על אויבי כי שמחתי בישועתך׃
1 (UKJV) "And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoices in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in your salvation. "

2 (HEM) אין קדוש כיהוה כי אין בלתך ואין צור כאלהינו׃
2 (UKJV) There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside you: neither is there any rock like our God.

3 (HEM) אל תרבו תדברו גבהה גבהה יצא עתק מפיכם כי אל דעות יהוה ולא נתכנו עללות׃
3 (UKJV) "Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed. "

4 (HEM) קשת גברים חתים ונכשלים אזרו חיל׃
4 (UKJV) The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength.

5 (HEM) שבעים בלחם נשכרו ורעבים חדלו עד עקרה ילדה שבעה ורבת בנים אמללה׃
5 (UKJV) "They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; and they that were hungry ceased: so that the barren has born seven; and she that has many children is waxed feeble. "

6 (HEM) יהוה ממית ומחיה מוריד שאול ויעל׃
6 (UKJV) The LORD kills, and makes alive: he brings down to the grave, and brings up.

7 (HEM) יהוה מוריש ומעשיר משפיל אף מרומם׃
7 (UKJV) The LORD makes poor, and makes rich: he brings low, and lifts up.

8 (HEM) מקים מעפר דל מאשפת ירים אביון להושיב עם נדיבים וכסא כבוד ינחלם כי ליהוה מצקי ארץ וישת עליהם תבל׃
8 (UKJV) He raises up the poor out of the dust, and lifts up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD's, and he has set the world upon them.

9 (HEM) רגלי חסידו ישמר ורשעים בחשך ידמו כי לא בכח יגבר איש׃
9 (UKJV) "He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail. "

10 (HEM) יהוה יחתו מריבו עלו בשמים ירעם יהוה ידין אפסי ארץ ויתן עז למלכו וירם קרן משיחו׃
10 (UKJV) "The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed. "

11 (HEM) וילך אלקנה הרמתה על ביתו והנער היה משרת את יהוה את פני עלי הכהן׃
11 (UKJV) And Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. And the child did minister unto the LORD before Eli the priest.

12 (HEM) ובני עלי בני בליעל לא ידעו את יהוה׃
12 (UKJV) "Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the LORD. "

13 (HEM) ומשפט הכהנים את העם כל איש זבח זבח ובא נער הכהן כבשל הבשר והמזלג שלש השנים בידו׃
13 (UKJV) "And the priest's custom with the people was, that, when any man offered sacrifice, the priest's servant came, while the flesh was in seething, with a fork of three teeth in his hand; "

14 (HEM) והכה בכיור או בדוד או בקלחת או בפרור כל אשר יעלה המזלג יקח הכהן בו ככה יעשו לכל ישראל הבאים שם בשלה׃
14 (UKJV) "And he struck it into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; all that the fork brought up the priest took for himself. So they did in Shiloh unto all the Israelites that came thither. "

15 (HEM) גם בטרם יקטרון את החלב ובא נער הכהן ואמר לאיש הזבח תנה בשר לצלות לכהן ולא יקח ממך בשר מבשל כי אם חי׃
15 (UKJV) "Also before they burnt the fat, the priest's servant came, and said to the man that sacrificed, Give flesh to roast for the priest; for he will not have sodden flesh of you, but raw. "

16 (HEM) ויאמר אליו האיש קטר יקטירון כיום החלב וקח לך כאשר תאוה נפשך ואמר לו כי עתה תתן ואם לא לקחתי בחזקה׃
16 (UKJV) "And if any man said unto him, Let them not fail to burn the fat presently, and then take as much as your soul desires; then he would answer him, Nay; but you shall give it me now: and if not, I will take it by force. "

17 (HEM) ותהי חטאת הנערים גדולה מאד את פני יהוה כי נאצו האנשים את מנחת יהוה׃
17 (UKJV) Wherefore the sin of the young men was very great before the LORD: for men abhorred the offering of the LORD.

18 (HEM) ושמואל משרת את פני יהוה נער חגור אפוד בד׃
18 (UKJV) But Samuel ministered before the LORD, being a child, girded with a linen ephod.

19 (HEM) ומעיל קטן תעשה לו אמו והעלתה לו מימים ימימה בעלותה את אישה לזבח את זבח הימים׃
19 (UKJV) Moreover his mother made him a little coat, and brought it to him from year to year, when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.

20 (HEM) וברך עלי את אלקנה ואת אשתו ואמר ישם יהוה לך זרע מן האשה הזאת תחת השאלה אשר שאל ליהוה והלכו למקמו׃
20 (UKJV) And Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, The LORD give you seed of this woman for the loan which is lent to the LORD. And they went unto their own home.

21 (HEM) כי פקד יהוה את חנה ותהר ותלד שלשה בנים ושתי בנות ויגדל הנער שמואל עם יהוה׃
21 (UKJV) And the LORD visited Hannah, so that she conceived, and bare three sons and two daughters. And the child Samuel grew before the LORD.

22 (HEM) ועלי זקן מאד ושמע את כל אשר יעשון בניו לכל ישראל ואת אשר ישכבון את הנשים הצבאות פתח אהל מועד׃
22 (UKJV) "Now Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons did unto all Israel; and how they lay with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. "

23 (HEM) ויאמר להם למה תעשון כדברים האלה אשר אנכי שמע את דבריכם רעים מאת כל העם אלה׃
23 (UKJV) And he said unto them, Why do all of you such things? for I hear of your evil dealings by all this people.

24 (HEM) אל בני כי לוא טובה השמעה אשר אנכי שמע מעברים עם יהוה׃
24 (UKJV) "Nay, my sons; for it is no good report that I hear: all of you make the LORD's people to transgress. "

25 (HEM) אם יחטא איש לאיש ופללו אלהים ואם ליהוה יחטא איש מי יתפלל לו ולא ישמעו לקול אביהם כי חפץ יהוה להמיתם׃
25 (UKJV) If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man sin against the LORD, who shall implore for him? Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because the LORD would slay them.

26 (HEM) והנער שמואל הלך וגדל וטוב גם עם יהוה וגם עם אנשים׃
26 (UKJV) And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the LORD, and also with men.

27 (HEM) ויבא איש אלהים אל עלי ויאמר אליו כה אמר יהוה הנגלה נגליתי אל בית אביך בהיותם במצרים לבית פרעה׃
27 (UKJV) And there came a man of God unto Eli, and said unto him, Thus says the LORD, Did I plainly appear unto the house of your father, when they were in Egypt in Pharaoh's house?

28 (HEM) ובחר אתו מכל שבטי ישראל לי לכהן לעלות על מזבחי להקטיר קטרת לשאת אפוד לפני ואתנה לבית אביך את כל אשי בני ישראל׃
28 (UKJV) And did I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to offer upon mine altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? and did I give unto the house of your father all the offerings made by fire of the children of Israel?

29 (HEM) למה תבעטו בזבחי ובמנחתי אשר צויתי מעון ותכבד את בניך ממני להבריאכם מראשית כל מנחת ישראל לעמי׃
29 (UKJV) "Wherefore kick all of you at my sacrifice and at mine offering, which I have commanded in my habitation; and honour your sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the offerings of Israel my people? "

30 (HEM) לכן נאם יהוה אלהי ישראל אמור אמרתי ביתך ובית אביך יתהלכו לפני עד עולם ועתה נאם יהוה חלילה לי כי מכבדי אכבד ובזי יקלו׃
30 (UKJV) "Wherefore the LORD God of Israel says, I said indeed that your house, and the house of your father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD says, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed. "

31 (HEM) הנה ימים באים וגדעתי את זרעך ואת זרע בית אביך מהיות זקן בביתך׃
31 (UKJV) Behold, the days come, that I will cut off your arm, and the arm of your father's house, that there shall not be an old man in your house.

32 (HEM) והבטת צר מעון בכל אשר ייטיב את ישראל ולא יהיה זקן בביתך כל הימים׃
32 (UKJV) And you shall see an enemy in my habitation, in all the wealth which God shall give Israel: and there shall not be an old man in your house for ever.

33 (HEM) ואיש לא אכרית לך מעם מזבחי לכלות את עיניך ולאדיב את נפשך וכל מרבית ביתך ימותו אנשים׃
33 (UKJV) And the man of yours, whom I shall not cut off from mine altar, shall be to consume your eyes, and to grieve your heart: and all the increase of your house shall die in the flower of their age.

34 (HEM) וזה לך האות אשר יבא אל שני בניך אל חפני ופינחס ביום אחד ימותו שניהם׃
34 (UKJV) "And this shall be a sign unto you, that shall come upon your two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas; in one day they shall die both of them. "

35 (HEM) והקימתי לי כהן נאמן כאשר בלבבי ובנפשי יעשה ובניתי לו בית נאמן והתהלך לפני משיחי כל הימים׃
35 (UKJV) "And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed for ever. "

36 (HEM) והיה כל הנותר בביתך יבוא להשתחות לו לאגורת כסף וככר לחם ואמר ספחני נא אל אחת הכהנות לאכל פת לחם׃
36 (UKJV) And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left in your house shall come and crouch to him for a piece of silver and a morsel of bread, and shall say, Put me, I pray you, into one of the priests' offices, that I may eat a piece of bread.
