1. kniha Samuelova

1 (KAT) Pán povedal Samuelovi: „Dokedy ty budeš žialiť za Šaulom, hoci som ho ja zavrhol, aby nebol kráľom nad Izraelom? Naplň si roh olejom a choď! Posielam ťa k Betlehemčanovi Izaimu, lebo som si spomedzi jeho synov vyhliadol kráľa.“
1 (VUL) Dixitque Dominus ad Samuelem: “ Usquequo tu luges Saul, cum ego proiecerim eum, ne regnet super Israel? Imple cornu tuum oleo et veni, ut mittam te ad Isai Bethlehemitem; providi enim in filiis eius mihi regem ”.
1 (UKJV) And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill your horn with oil, and go, I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.

2 (KAT) Samuel odpovedal: „Akože pôjdem? Keď to počuje Šaul, zabije ma.“ Pán povedal: „Vezmi si jalovicu zo stáda a povedz: »Prišiel som obetovať Pánovi.«
2 (VUL) Et ait Samuel: “ Quomodo vadam? Audiet enim Saul et interficiet me ”. Et ait Dominus: “ Vitulam de armento tolles in manu tua et dices: “Ad immolandum Domino veni”.
2 (UKJV) And Samuel said, How can I go? if Saul hear it, he will kill me. And the LORD said, Take an heifer with you, and say, I am come to sacrifice to the LORD.

3 (KAT) Izaiho zavoláš na obetu a ja ti potom dám vedieť, čo máš robiť: pomažeš mi toho, ktorého ti označím.“
3 (VUL) Et vocabis Isai ad victimam; et ego ostendam tibi quid facias, et unges quemcumque monstravero tibi ”.
3 (UKJV) And call Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what you shall do: and you shall anoint unto me him whom I name unto you.

4 (KAT) Samuel urobil, čo mu rozkázal Pán, a išiel do Betlehema, kde mu starší mesta s obavami išli naproti a pýtali sa: „Je tvoj príchod pokojný?“
4 (VUL) Fecit ergo Samuel, sicut locutus est ei Dominus, venitque in Bethlehem. Et expaverunt seniores civitatis occurrentes ei dixeruntque: “ Pacificusne ingressus tuus? ”.
4 (UKJV) And Samuel did that which the LORD spoke, and came to Bethlehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said, Come you peaceably?

5 (KAT) Odpovedal: „Pokojný! Prišiel som obetovať Pánovi. Posväťte sa, pôjdete so mnou na obetu!“ Potom posvätil Izaiho a jeho synov a pozval ich na obetu.
5 (VUL) Et ait: “ Pacificus; ad immolandum Domino veni. Sanctificamini et venite mecum, ut immolem ”. Sanctificavit ergo Isai et filios eius et vocavit eos ad sacrificium.
5 (UKJV) And he said, Peaceably: I am come to sacrifice unto the LORD: sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice.

6 (KAT) Keď vkročil, videl Eliába a povedal si: „Isteže stojí pred Pánom jeho pomazaný.“
6 (VUL) Cumque ingressi essent, vidit Eliab et ait: “ Absque dubio coram Domino est christus eius! ”.
6 (UKJV) And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD's anointed is before him.

7 (KAT) Ale Pán povedal Samuelovi: „Nehľaď na jeho výzor a na výšku jeho postavy, lebo ho nepokladám za súceho. Veď (Pán nehľadí), ako hľadí človek. Lebo človek hľadí na výzor, ale Pán hľadí na srdce.“
7 (VUL) Et dixit Dominus ad Samuelem: “ Ne respicias vultum eius neque altitudinem staturae eius, quoniam abieci eum; nec iuxta intuitum hominis iudico: homo enim videt ea, quae parent, Dominus autem intuetur cor ”.
7 (UKJV) "But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart. "

8 (KAT) Nato Izai zavolal Abinadaba a priviedol ho pred Samuela. Ale povedal: „Ani tohto si nevyvolil Pán.“
8 (VUL) Et vocavit Isai Abinadab et adduxit eum coram Samuele, qui dixit: “ Nec hunc elegit Dominus ”.
8 (UKJV) Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, Neither has the LORD chosen this.

9 (KAT) Izai priviedol Samu, ale povedal: „Ani tohto si nevyvolil Pán.“
9 (VUL) Adduxit autem Isai Samma, de quo ait: “ Etiam hunc non elegit Dominus ”.
9 (UKJV) Then Jesse made Shammah to pass by. And he said, Neither has the LORD chosen this.

10 (KAT) Potom Izai priviedol pred Samuela svojich sedem synov, ale Samuel povedal: „Pán si nevyvolil z týchto.“
10 (VUL) Adduxit itaque Isai septem filios suos coram Samuele, et ait Samuel ad Isai: “ Non elegit Dominus ex istis ”.
10 (UKJV) Again, Jesse made seven of his sons to pass before Samuel. And Samuel said unto Jesse, The LORD has not chosen these.

11 (KAT) Samuel sa spýtal Izaiho: „Sú to všetci mladíci?“ Odpovedal: „Ešte chýba najmenší, ten pasie ovce.“ Samuel povedal Izaimu: „Pošli poň a daj ho doviesť sem, lebo si nezasadneme, kým nepríde sem.“
11 (VUL) Dixitque Samuel ad Isai: “ Numquid iam completi sunt filii? ”. Qui respondit: “ Adhuc reliquus est minimus et pascit oves ”. Et ait Samuel ad Isai: “ Mitte et adduc eum; nec enim discumbemus prius quam huc ille venerit ”.
11 (UKJV) And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all your children? And he said, There remains yet the youngest, and, behold, he keeps the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he comes here.

12 (KAT) Poslal poň a dal ho priviesť. Bol ryšavý, mal krásne oči a peknú postavu. A Pán povedal: „Vstaň, pomaž ho, lebo to je on!“
12 (VUL) Misit ergo et adduxit eum; erat autem rufus et pulcher aspectu decoraque facie. Et ait Dominus: “ Surge, unge eum; ipse est enim ”.
12 (UKJV) And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was rosy, and likewise of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the LORD said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he.

13 (KAT) Nato Samuel vzal roh s olejom a pomazal ho uprostred jeho bratov. A od toho dňa pôsobil na Dávida Pánov duch. Samuel potom vstal a odišiel do Rámy.
13 (VUL) Tulit igitur Samuel cornu olei et unxit eum in medio fratrum eius; et directus est spiritus Domini in David a die illa et in reliquum. Surgensque Samuel abiit in Rama.
13 (UKJV) Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

14 (KAT) Od Šaula však Pánov duch odstúpil a trápil ho zlý duch od Pána.
14 (VUL) Spiritus autem Domini recessit a Saul, et exagitabat eum spiritus nequam a Domino.
14 (UKJV) But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.

15 (KAT) Vtedy vraveli Šaulovi jeho sluhovia: „Hľa, trápi ťa zlý duch od Pána.
15 (VUL) Dixeruntque servi Saul ad eum: “ Ecce spiritus Dei malus exagitat te.
15 (UKJV) And Saul's servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubles you.

16 (KAT) Nech rozkáže náš pán a sluhovia, ktorí sú pred tebou, vyhľadajú ti muža, ktorý vie hrať na citare. Keď bude na tebe zlý duch od Pána, bude jeho ruka vyhrávať a uľaví sa ti.“
16 (VUL) Iubeat dominus noster, et servi tui, qui coram te sunt, quaerant hominem scientem psallere cithara, ut, quando arripuerit te spiritus Dei malus, psallat manu sua, et levius feras ”.
16 (UKJV) Let our lord now command your servants, which are before you, to seek out a man, who is a cunning player on an harp: and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from God is upon you, that he shall play with his hand, and you shall be well.

17 (KAT) Šaul povedal svojim sluhom: „Vyhliadnite mi muža, ktorý vie dobre hrať, a priveďte ho ku mne!“
17 (VUL) Et ait Saul ad servos suos: “ Providete mihi aliquem bene psallentem et adducite eum ad me ”.
17 (UKJV) And Saul said unto his servants, Provide me now a man that can play well, and bring him to me.

18 (KAT) Ktorýsi zo sluhov povedal: „Poznám jedného zo synov Betlehemčana Izaiho, ktorý vie hrať. Je to mocný hrdina, bojovník, vyzná sa v reči, má postavu a Pán je s ním.“
18 (VUL) Et respondens unus de pueris ait: “ Ecce vidi filium Isai Bethlehemitae scientem psallere et fortissimum robore et virum bellicosum et prudentem in verbis et virum pulchrum; et Dominus est cum eo ”.
18 (UKJV) Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the LORD is with him.

19 (KAT) I poslal Šaul k Izaimu poslov s odkazom: „Pošli ku mne svojho syna Dávida, ktorý je pri ovciach!“
19 (VUL) Misit ergo Saul nuntios ad Isai dicens: “ Mitte ad me David filium tuum, qui est in pascuis ”.
19 (UKJV) Wherefore Saul sent messengers unto Jesse, and said, Send me David your son, which is with the sheep.

20 (KAT) On naložil na osla chlieb, mech vína, jedno kozliatko a po svojom synovi Dávidovi to poslal Šaulovi.
20 (VUL) Tulitque Isai asinum cum pane et utre vini et haedo de capris uno et misit per manum David filii sui Sauli.
20 (UKJV) And Jesse took an ass laden with bread, and a bottle of wine, and a kid, and sent them by David his son unto Saul.

21 (KAT) Tak prišiel Dávid k Šaulovi a stal sa jeho sluhom. On si ho veľmi obľúbil a stal sa mu zbrojnošom.
21 (VUL) Et venit David ad Saul et stetit coram eo; at ille dilexit eum nimis, et factus est eius armiger.
21 (UKJV) "And David came to Saul, and stood before him: and he loved him greatly; and he became his armour bearer. "

22 (KAT) A Šaul poslal Izaimu odkaz: „Nech ostane Dávid v mojej službe, lebo našiel milosť v mojich očiach!“
22 (VUL) Misitque Saul ad Isai dicens: “ Stet David in conspectu meo; invenit enim gratiam in oculis meis ”.
22 (UKJV) "And Saul sent to Jesse, saying, Let David, I pray you, stand before me; for he has found favour in my sight. "

23 (KAT) A keď prišiel na Šaula duch od Pána, vzal Dávid do ruky citaru a hral. Šaulovi sa uľavilo a bolo mu lepšie, zlý duch od neho odstúpil.
23 (VUL) Igitur, quandocumque spiritus Dei arripiebat Saul, David tollebat citharam et percutiebat manu sua; et refocillabatur Saul et levius habebat: recedebat enim ab eo spiritus malus.
23 (UKJV) And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.
