1 (KJV) Now there was a certain man of Ramathaim-zophim, of mount Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite:
1 (B21) V Ramatajim byl jeden muž z Cufova rodu z Efraimských hor. Jmenoval se Elkána, syn Jerochama, syna Elihuova, syna Tochuova, syna Efraimce Cufa.

2 (KJV) And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.
2 (B21) Měl dvě ženy; jedna se jmenovala Hana a druhá Penina. Penina měla děti, ale Hana byla bezdětná.

3 (KJV) And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the LORD of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the LORD, were there.
3 (B21) Tento muž chodil každoročně ze svého města do Šíla, aby se tam klaněl a obětoval Hospodinu zástupů. Hospodinovými kněžími tam byli dva synové Elího, Chofni a Pinchas.

4 (KJV) And when the time was that Elkanah offered, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions:
4 (B21) Vždy, když přišel čas oběti, Elkána dal své ženě Penině i všem jejím synům a dcerám porce masa,

5 (KJV) But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the LORD had shut up her womb.
5 (B21) ale Haně dával dvojnásobnou porci. Miloval totiž Hanu, ačkoli jí Hospodin nedopřál plodnost.

6 (KJV) And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the LORD had shut up her womb.
6 (B21) Její protivnice ji ale nesnesitelně ponižovala a trápila kvůli tomu, že jí Hospodin nedopřál plodnost.

7 (KJV) And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.
7 (B21) A tak to bývalo rok co rok, kdykoli šla do Hospodinovy svatyně. Jednou ji ponižovala tak, že se rozplakala a nemohla ani jíst.

8 (KJV) Then said Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons?
8 (B21) Její muž Elkána jí řekl: "Proč pláčeš, Hano? Proč nejíš? Proč si to tak bereš k srdci? Nejsem snad pro tebe lepší než deset synů?"

9 (KJV) So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the LORD.
9 (B21) Když potom v Šílu pojedli a popili, Hana vstala. U veřejí Hospodinova svatostánku právě seděl na stolci kněz Elí.

10 (KJV) And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore.
10 (B21) Hana se tehdy v hluboké úzkosti modlila k Hospodinu a s velikým pláčem

11 (KJV) And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no rasor come upon his head.
11 (B21) složila tento slib: "Hospodine zástupů, kéž bys laskavě shlédl na trápení své služebnice a pomyslel na mě! Nezapomeneš-li na svou služebnici, ale dáš jí syna, pak ho na celý život odevzdám Hospodinu a jeho hlavy se nikdy nedotkne břitva."

12 (KJV) And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli marked her mouth.
12 (B21) Když se tak před Hospodinem modlila, Elí si všiml jejích úst.

13 (KJV) Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken.
13 (B21) Hana totiž promlouvala srdcem, rty se jí chvěly, ale protože její hlas nebylo slyšet, Elí si myslel, že je opilá.

14 (KJV) And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee.
14 (B21) Proto jí Elí řekl: "Jak dlouho tu budeš opilá? Prober se!"

15 (KJV) And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD.
15 (B21) Hana mu ale odpověděla: "Tak to není, můj pane. Jsem jen zdrcená. Nepila jsem víno ani pivo; jen jsem si vylévala duši před Hospodinem.

16 (KJV) Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto.
16 (B21) Nepokládej svou služebnici za ničemnou ženu. Modlila jsem se tu z velikého zármutku a rozrušení."

17 (KJV) Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him.
17 (B21) "Jdi v pokoji," řekl jí na to Elí, "a kéž ti Bůh Izraele dá, o co jsi ho úpěnlivě prosila."

18 (KJV) And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad.
18 (B21) "Jsi ke své služebnici tak laskav!" řekla Hana, a když odešla, pojedla a smutek z její tváře zmizel.

19 (KJV) And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the LORD, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her.
19 (B21) Časně ráno vstali, a když se poklonili Hospodinu, vydali se zpátky domů do Rámy. Elkána se pak se svou ženou Hanou miloval a Hospodin na ni nezapomněl.

20 (KJV) Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the LORD.
20 (B21) Než se rok s rokem sešel, Hana počala a porodila syna. Dala mu jméno Samuel, Vyslyšel Bůh, neboť řekla: "Vyprosila jsem ho od Hospodina."

21 (KJV) And the man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer unto the LORD the yearly sacrifice, and his vow.
21 (B21) Když se pak Elkána znovu vydal s celou svou rodinou předložit Hospodinu výroční oběť a splnit svůj slib,

22 (KJV) But Hannah went not up; for she said unto her husband, I will not go up until the child be weaned, and then I will bring him, that he may appear before the LORD, and there abide for ever.
22 (B21) Hana nešla. "Až chlapce odkojím," řekla svému muži, "přivedu ho před Hospodina a zůstane tam navždy."

23 (KJV) And Elkanah her husband said unto her, Do what seemeth thee good; tarry until thou have weaned him; only the LORD establish his word. So the woman abode, and gave her son suck until she weaned him.
23 (B21) "Dělej, jak myslíš," řekl jí na to Elkána. "Zůstaň tu, než ho odkojíš, a kéž Hospodin přivede tvůj slib k naplnění." A tak ta žena zůstala se svým synkem a pečovala o něj, dokud ho neodkojila.

24 (KJV) And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the LORD in Shiloh: and the child was young.
24 (B21) A když ho odkojila, vzala tříletého býčka, efu mouky a džbán vína a odvedla chlapce do Hospodinovy svatyně v Šílu. Bylo to ještě malé dítě.

25 (KJV) And they slew a bullock, and brought the child to Eli.
25 (B21) Býčka porazili a chlapce přivedli k Elímu.

26 (KJV) And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the LORD.
26 (B21) "Můj pane," řekla Hana, "poslyš prosím. Jakože jsi, můj pane, živ, já jsem ta žena, která tu poblíž tebe stála a modlila se k Hospodinu.

27 (KJV) For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him:
27 (B21) Za toto dítě jsem se tehdy modlila a Hospodin mi dal, o co jsem ho úpěnlivě prosila.

28 (KJV) Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the LORD. And he worshipped the LORD there.
28 (B21) Teď ho tedy odevzdávám Hospodinu, aby mu patřil po celý svůj život." A poklonili se tam Hospodinu.
