1 (KJV) Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?
1 (B21) Její tchyně Noemi jí pak řekla: "Musím ti najít domov, má dcero, abys byla šťastná.

2 (KJV) And now is not Boaz of our kindred, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to night in the threshingfloor.
2 (B21) Víš, že Boáz, s jehož děvečkami jsi pracovala, je náš příbuzný. Dnes večer bude na mlatě převívat ječmen.

3 (KJV) Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the floor: but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking.
3 (B21) Vykoupej se, navoň se, vezmi si nejlepší šaty a jdi za ním na mlat. Nedávej mu ale o sobě vědět, dokud se nenají a nenapije.

4 (KJV) And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.
4 (B21) Až si půjde lehnout, všimni si, kde leží. Potom jdi, odkryj plášť po jeho boku a ulehni. On ti pak poví, co máš dělat."

5 (KJV) And she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me I will do.
5 (B21) "Udělám všechno, co mi říkáš," odpověděla Rút.

6 (KJV) And she went down unto the floor, and did according to all that her mother in law bade her.
6 (B21) Odešla na mlat a udělala všechno, co jí tchyně poradila.

7 (KJV) And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid her down.
7 (B21) Boáz pojedl, napil se a v dobré náladě si šel lehnout na kraj stohu. Tehdy se přikradla, odkryla plášť po jeho boku a ulehla.

8 (KJV) And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself: and, behold, a woman lay at his feet.
8 (B21) Uprostřed noci pak sebou ten muž trhl, převalil se - a hle, po boku mu leží žena!

9 (KJV) And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman.
9 (B21) "Kdo jsi?" zeptal se. "Tvá služebnice Rút," odpověděla. "Přikryj svou služebnici křídlem svého pláště, vždyť jsi náš příbuzný."

10 (KJV) And he said, Blessed be thou of the LORD, my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich.
10 (B21) "Hospodin ti žehnej, dcero," řekl jí na to. "Teď jsi projevila ještě větší oddanost než předtím, neboť jsi nešla za mládenci - za chudými ani bohatými.

11 (KJV) And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.
11 (B21) Proto se neboj, dcero. Udělám pro tebe vše, co žádáš. Každý v mém městě přece ví, že jsi znamenitá žena.

12 (KJV) And now it is true that I am thy near kinsman: howbeit there is a kinsman nearer than I.
12 (B21) Ano, je pravda, že jsem příbuzný; je tu ale ještě bližší příbuzný než já.

13 (KJV) Tarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman's part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee, as the LORD liveth: lie down until the morning.
13 (B21) Zůstaň tu přes noc. Splní-li ti zítra příbuzenskou povinnost, budiž, ať tě vykoupí. Pokud ji ale nesplní, pak, jakože je živ Hospodin, vykoupím tě já. Spi až do rána."

14 (KJV) And she lay at his feet until the morning: and she rose up before one could know another. And he said, Let it not be known that a woman came into the floor.
14 (B21) Spala tedy po jeho boku až do rána. Dříve než by kdo mohl rozeznat druhého, ale vstala, protože Boáz řekl: "Ať se nikdo nedozví, že na mlat přišla žena."

15 (KJV) Also he said, Bring the vail that thou hast upon thee, and hold it. And when she held it, he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her: and she went into the city.
15 (B21) Řekl jí také: "Nastav pláštěnku a podrž ji." A když ji nastavila, odměřil jí šest měr ječmene. Když jí je naložil, odešel do města.

16 (KJV) And when she came to her mother in law, she said, Who art thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her.
16 (B21) Když se Rút vrátila ke své tchyni, ta se zeptala: "Jak jsi pořídila, dcero?" A tak jí vyprávěla všechno, co pro ni ten muž udělal.

17 (KJV) And she said, These six measures of barley gave he me; for he said to me, Go not empty unto thy mother in law.
17 (B21) Nakonec řekla: "Dal mi těchto šest měr ječmene se slovy: ‚Ať se ke své tchyni nevrátíš s prázdnou.'"

18 (KJV) Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.
18 (B21) "Počkej, dcero, uvidíš, jak to dopadne," řekla jí na to Noemi. "Ten muž nepoleví, dokud tu věc ještě dnes nedovede do konce!"
