Kniha proroka Barucha

1 (KJV) O Lord Almighty, God of Israel, the soul in anguish the troubled spirit, crieth unto thee.
1 (KAT) Všemohúci Pane, Bože Izraela, úzkostlivá duša a zlomený duch volá k tebe.

2 (KJV) Hear, O Lord, and have mercy; ar thou art merciful: and have pity upon us, because we have sinned before thee.
2 (KAT) Počuj, Pane, a zmiluj sa, i keď sme proti tebe zhrešili.

3 (KJV) For thou endurest for ever, and we perish utterly.
3 (KAT) Veď ty večne tróniš a my máme večne zahynúť?

4 (KJV) O Lord Almighty, thou God of Israel, hear now the prayers of the dead Israelites, and of their children, which have sinned before thee, and not hearkened unto the voice of thee their God: for the which cause these plagues cleave unto us.
4 (KAT) Všemohúci Pane, Bože Izraela, počuj modlitbu zomrelých Izraela a synov tých, čo zhrešili proti tebe, čo nepočúvali hlas svojho Boha, a preto visí na nás nešťastie.

5 (KJV) Remember not the iniquities of our forefathers: but think upon thy power and thy name now at this time.
5 (KAT) Nespomínaj na zločiny našich otcov, ale spomeň si v tento čas na svoju ruku a na svoje meno,

6 (KJV) For thou art the Lord our God, and thee, O Lord, will we praise.
6 (KAT) veď ty si Pán, náš Boh, a chceme ťa chváliť!

7 (KJV) And for this cause thou hast put thy fear in our hearts, to the intent that we should call upon thy name, and praise thee in our captivity: for we have called to mind all the iniquity of our forefathers, that sinned before thee.
7 (KAT) Veď nato si vštepil do našich sŕdc svoju bázeň, aby sme vzývali tvoje meno. Nuž budeme ťa chváliť vo svojom zajatí, pretože sme odvrátili od svojich sŕdc všetku neprávosť svojich otcov, ktorí zhrešili proti tebe.

8 (KJV) Behold, we are yet this day in our captivity, where thou hast scattered us, for a reproach and a curse, and to be subject to payments, according to all the iniquities of our fathers, which departed from the Lord our God.
8 (KAT) Hľa, my sme dnes v zajatí, kde si nás roztratil na potupu a kliatbu a pre dlh za všetky neprávosti našich otcov, ktorí odpadli od Pána, svojho Boha.“

9 (KJV) Hear, Israel, the commandments of life: give ear to understand wisdom.
9 (KAT) Počuj, Izrael, príkazy života, zachyť uchom, nauč sa múdrosti!

10 (KJV) How happeneth it Israel, that thou art in thine enemies' land, that thou art waxen old in a strange country, that thou art defiled with the dead,
10 (KAT) Čo je to, Izrael? Čo, že si v nepriateľskej krajine? Zostarel si v cudzej krajine, poškvrnený si mŕtvolami,

11 (KJV) That thou art counted with them that go down into the grave?
11 (KAT) prirátaný si k tým, čo klesli do podsvetia.

12 (KJV) Thou hast forsaken the fountain of wisdom.
12 (KAT) Opustil si prameň múdrosti.

13 (KJV) For if thou hadst walked in the way of God, thou shouldest have dwelled in peace for ever.
13 (KAT) Keby si bol kráčal cestou Boha, bol by si býval vo večnom pokoji.

14 (KJV) Learn where is wisdom, where is strength, where is understanding; that thou mayest know also where is length of days, and life, where is the light of the eyes, and peace.
14 (KAT) Nauč sa, kde je múdrosť, kde je sila, kde je rozumnosť, tak poznáš zároveň, kde je dlhý život, kde žitie, kde je svetlo očí a pokoj.

15 (KJV) Who hath found out her place? or who hath come into her treasures ?
15 (KAT) Ktože našiel jej miesto a kto vkročil do jej pokladníc?

16 (KJV) Where are the princes of the heathen become, and such as ruled the beasts upon the earth;
16 (KAT) Kdeže sú vládcovia národov, kde sú tí, čo panujú nad zverinou zeme?

17 (KJV) They that had their pastime with the fowls of the air, and they that hoarded up silver and gold, wherein men trust, and made no end of their getting?
17 (KAT) Čo sa ihrajú s vtáčkami neba,

18 (KJV) For they that wrought in silver, and were so careful, and whose works are unsearchable,
18 (KAT) čo zhromažďujú striebro a zlato, v ktorom ľudia skladajú svoju nádej a hrabú bez hraníc? LXX (Čo spracúvajú striebro a namáhajú sa a ich dielo nemožno pochopiť?)

19 (KJV) They are vanished and gone down to the grave, and others are come up in their steads.
19 (KAT) Stratili sa, zostúpili do podsvetia a na ich miesto nastúpili iní.

20 (KJV) Young men have seen light, and dwelt upon the earth: but the way of knowledge have they not known,
20 (KAT) Mladší uvideli svetlo a bývali na zemi, cestu múdrosti však nepoznali,

21 (KJV) Nor understood the paths thereof, nor laid hold of it: their children were far off from that way.
21 (KAT) ani nepochopili jej chodníky. Ich synovia ju tiež nezachytili, ostala od nich ďaleko.

22 (KJV) It hath not been heard of in Chanaan, neither hath it been seen in Theman.
22 (KAT) Nepočuli o nej v Kanaáne a nevideli ju v Temane.

23 (KJV) The Agarenes that seek wisdom upon earth, the merchants of Meran and of Theman, the authors of fables, and searchers out of understanding; none of these have known the way of wisdom, or remember her paths.
23 (KAT) Synovia Agar, ktorí hľadajú múdrosť zemskú, kupci Mery a Temanu, rozprávkari a skúmatelia múdrosti tiež nepoznali cestu múdrosti, ani na jej chodníky si nespomenuli.

24 (KJV) O Israel, how great is the house of God! and how large is the place of his possession!
24 (KAT) Ó, Izrael, aký veľký je dom Boha a ohromné miesto, ktoré vlastní!

25 (KJV) Great, and hath none end; high, and unmeasurable.
25 (KAT) Veľké je, nemá hraníc, vysoké a nezmerateľné.

26 (KJV) There were the giants famous from the beginning, that were of so great stature, and so expert in war.
26 (KAT) Tam povstali obri, tí oddávna povestní, veľkí postavou, čo vyznali sa v boji.

27 (KJV) Those did not the Lord choose, neither gave he the way of knowledge unto them:
27 (KAT) Nie týchto si vyvolil Boh, ani cestu múdrosti neobjavili, ale zahynuli, lebo nemali múdrosti,

28 (KJV) But they were destroyed, because they had no wisdom, and perished through their own foolishness.
28 (KAT) zahynuli pre svoju nemúdrosť.

29 (KJV) Who hath gone up into heaven, and taken her, and brought her down from the clouds?
29 (KAT) Ktože vystúpil do neba a vzal si ju a zniesol ju dole z oblakov?

30 (KJV) Who hath gone over the sea, and found her, and will bring her for pure gold?
30 (KAT) Kto sa preplavil cez more a našiel ju a doniesol ju za rýdze zlato?

31 (KJV) No man knoweth her way, nor thinketh of her path.
31 (KAT) Niet (toho), kto by poznal jej cesty, ani kto by objavil jej chodníky.

32 (KJV) But he that knoweth all things knoweth her, and hath found her out with his understanding: he that prepared the earth for evermore hath filled it with fourfooted beasts:
32 (KAT) Ten však, čo všetko vie, pozná ju, objavil ju svojou rozumnosťou; ten, čo pripravil pre večné časy zem a naplnil ju štvornohými zvieratami.

33 (KJV) He that sendeth forth light, and it goeth, calleth it again, and it obeyeth him with fear.
33 (KAT) Ak vyšle svetlo, ono ide, ak ho zavolá, poslúchne ho s chvením.

34 (KJV) The stars shined in their watches, and rejoiced: when he calleth them, they say, Here we be; and so with cheerfulness they shewed light unto him that made them.
34 (KAT) A hviezdy svietia na svojich strážach a tešia sa;

35 (KJV) This is our God, and there shall none other be accounted of in comparison of him
35 (KAT) ak ich zavolá, odpovedia: „Tu sme!“ a veselo svietia tomu, čo ich učinil.

36 (KJV) He hath found out all the way of knowledge, and hath given it unto Jacob his servant, and to Israel his beloved.
36 (KAT) Toto je náš Boh a iného popri ňom uznať nemožno.

37 (KJV) Afterward did he shew himself upon earth, and conversed with men.
37 (KAT) Objavil každú cestu múdrosti a dal ju svojmu sluhovi Jakubovi a svojmu miláčikovi Izraelovi.

38 (KAT) Potom sa zjavila na zemi a žila s ľuďmi.
