Kniha proroka Barucha

1 (KAT) Toto je znenie knihy, ktorú písal Baruch, syn Nériho, syna Másiášovho, syna Sedekiášovho, syna Sediho, syna Helkiášovho, v Babylone,
1 (KJV) And these are the words of the book, which Baruch the son of Nerias, the son of Maasias, the son of Sedecias, the son of Asadias, the son of Chelcias, wrote in Babylon,
1 ----

2 (KAT) v piatom roku, siedmy deň mesiaca, v čase, keď Chaldejci zaujali Jeruzalem a spálili ho.
2 (KJV) In the fifth year, and in the seventh day of the month, what time as the Chaldeans took Jerusalem, and burnt it with fire.
2 ----

3 (KAT) Baruch prečítal obsah tejto knihy v prítomnosti júdskeho kráľa, Joakimovho syna Jechoniáša, a v prítomnosti všetkého ľudu, ktorý prišiel kvôli knihe,
3 (KJV) And Baruch did read the words of this book in the hearing of Jechonias the son of Joachim king of Juda, and in the ears of all the people that came to hear the book,

4 (KAT) tiež v prítomnosti mocnárov a kráľovských synov, v prítomnosti starších a v prítomnosti všetkého ľudu od najmenších po najväčších, všetkých, ktorí bývali v Babylone, pri rieke Sud.
4 (KJV) And in the hearing of the nobles, and of the king's sons, and in the hearing of the elders, and of all the people, from the lowest unto the highest, even of all them that dwelt at Babylon by the river Sud.

5 (KAT) Oni plakali, postili a modlili sa pred Pánom,
5 (KJV) Whereupon they wept, fasted, and prayed before the Lord.
5 ----

6 (KAT) poskladali peniaze, každý podľa možností,
6 (KJV) They made also a collection of money according to every man's power:
6 ----

7 (KAT) a poslali ich do Jeruzalema kňazovi Joakimovi, synovi Helkiáša, syna Salomovho, i kňazom, aj všetkému ľudu, ktorý bol s ním v Jeruzaleme.
7 (KJV) And they sent it to Jerusalem unto Joachim the high priest, the son of Chelcias, son of Salom, and to the priests, and to all the people which were found with him at Jerusalem,

8 (KAT) A desiateho sivana dostal aj z chrámu ukoristené nádoby Pánovho domu, aby ich vrátil do Jeruzalema. Boli to strieborné nádoby, ktoré dal spraviť júdsky kráľ Sedekiáš, syn Joziáša,
8 (KJV) At the same time when he received the vessels of the house of the Lord, that were carried out of the temple, to return them into the land of Juda, the tenth day of the month Sivan, namely, silver vessels, which Sedecias the son of Josias king of Jada had made,

9 (KAT) keď babylonský kráľ Nabuchodonozor zajal a z Jeruzalema do Babylonu odviedol Jechoniáša, kniežatá, zámočníkov, mocnárov a pospolitý ľud.
9 (KJV) After that Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon had carried away Jechonias, and the princes, and the captives, and the mighty men, and the people of the land, from Jerusalem, and brought them unto Babylon.

10 (KAT) A odkázali: „Tu vám posielame peniaze. Kúpte za peniaze celopaly, obety za hriech i tymian; zaobstarajte aj dary a obetujte to na oltári Pánovi, nášmu Bohu!
10 (KJV) And they said, Behold, we have sent you money to buy you burnt offerings, and sin offerings, and incense, and prepare ye manna, and offer upon the altar of the Lord our God;
10 ----

11 (KAT) A modlite sa za život babylonského kráľa Nabuchodonozora a za život jeho syna Baltazára, aby ich dni trvali ako dni neba nad zemou!
11 (KJV) And pray for the life of Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon, and for the life of Balthasar his son, that their days may be upon earth as the days of heaven:
11 ----

12 (KAT) Nech nám dá Pán sily a nech nám osvieti oči, aby sme žili v tieni babylonského kráľa Nabuchodonozora a v tieni jeho syna Baltazára, aby sme im slúžili dlhé časy a našli u nich milosť.
12 (KJV) And the Lord will give us strength, and lighten our eyes, and we shall live under the shadow of Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon, and under the shadow of Balthasar his son, and we shall serve them many days, and find favour in their sight.
12 ----

13 (KAT) Modlite sa k Pánovi, nášmu Bohu, aj za nás, veď sme zhrešili proti Pánovi, svojmu Bohu, a po dnešný deň sa neodvrátila od nás jeho prchkosť a jeho hnev.
13 (KJV) Pray for us also unto the Lord our God, for we have sinned against the Lord our God; and unto this day the fury of the Lord and his wrath is not turned from us.
13 ----

14 (KAT) Prečítajte túto knihu, ktorú vám posielame, aby ste ju v dome Pánovom čítali vo sviatočný deň a v príhodné dni.
14 (KJV) And ye shall read this book which we have sent unto you, to make confession in the house of the Lord, upon the feasts and solemn days.

15 (KAT) A hovorte: Pán, náš Boh, je spravodlivý. My však, mužovia Júdska a obyvatelia Jeruzalema, musíme sa dnešný deň hanbiť,
15 (KJV) And ye shall say, To the Lord our God belongeth righteousness, but unto us the confusion of faces, as it is come to pass this day, unto them of Juda, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem,

16 (KAT) i naši králi, naše kniežatá, naši kňazi, naši proroci i naši otcovia,
16 (KJV) And to our kings, and to our princes, and to our priests, and to our prophets, and to our fathers:
16 ----

17 (KAT) pretože sme zhrešili pred Pánom,
17 (KJV) For we have sinned before the Lord,
17 ----

18 (KAT) neposlúchali sme jeho hlas, aby sme kráčali podľa jeho nariadení, ktoré nám predkladal.
18 (KJV) And disobeyed him, and have not hearkened unto the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in the commandments that he gave us openly:
18 ----

19 (KAT) Odo dňa, čo Pán vyviedol našich otcov z egyptskej krajiny, až po dnešný deň boli sme Pánovi, svojmu Bohu, neposlušní a nevšímavo sme sa odvracali, aby sme nepočuli jeho hlas.
19 (KJV) Since the day that the Lord brought our forefathers out of the land of Egypt, unto this present day, we have been disobedient unto the Lord our God, and we have been negligent in not hearing his voice.
19 ----

20 (KAT) Preto viseli na nás nešťastia a kliatba, ktorú Boh nariadil svojmu sluhovi Mojžišovi vtedy, keď vyviedol našich otcov z egyptskej krajiny, aby nám dal krajinu, ktorá oplýva mliekom a medom, ako je tomu dnes.
20 (KJV) Wherefore the evils cleaved unto us, and the curse, which the Lord appointed by Moses his servant at the time that he brought our fathers out of the land of Egypt, to give us a land that floweth with milk and honey, like as it is to see this day.
20 ----

21 (KAT) Lenže sme nepočúvali hlas Pána, svojho Boha, v rečiach prorokov, ktorých k nám posielal,
21 (KJV) Nevertheless we have not hearkened unto the voice of the Lord our God, according unto all the words of the prophets, whom he sent unto us:
21 ----

22 (KAT) ale každý išiel za hriešnou žiadosťou svojho srdca, slúžil iným bohom a páchal, čo je zlé v očiach Pána, nášho Boha.
22 (KJV) But every man followed the imagination of his own wicked heart, to serve strange gods, and to do evil in the sight of the Lord our God.
