1 (KJV) My son, hast thou sinned? do so no more, but ask pardon for thy former sins.
1 (KAT) Synu, zhrešil si? - nerob to viac! - ale odpros aj za predošlé viny, aby ti ich odpustili.

2 (KJV) Flee from sin as from the face of a serpent: for if thou comest too near it, it will bite thee: the teeth thereof are as the teeth of a lion, slaying the souls of men.
2 (KAT) Ako pred jedovatým hadom, tak utekaj pred hriechom, lebo ak sa k nemu priblížiš, privinie ťa k sebe.

3 (KJV) All iniquity is as a two edged sword, the wounds whereof cannot be healed.
3 (KAT) Jeho zuby sú ako zuby levov: ktoré zabíjajú duše ľudí.

4 (KJV) To terrify and do wrong will waste riches: thus the house of proud men shall be made desolate.
4 (KAT) Každá neprávosť (ničí) ako dvojsečný meč: no na jeho ranu lieku niet.

5 (KJV) A prayer out of a poor man's mouth reacheth to the ears of God, and his judgment cometh speedily.
5 (KAT) Násilie a neprávosti ničia majetok: i dom, čo by bol aj veľmi bohatý, zničí pýcha: tak aj bohatstvo pyšného úplne spustne.

6 (KJV) He that hateth to be reproved is in the way of sinners: but he that feareth the Lord will repent from his heart.
6 (KAT) Prosba z úst biedneho prenikne k Božím ušiam a rozsudok mu rýchlo príde na pomoc.

7 (KJV) An eloquent man is known far and near; but a man of understanding knoweth when he slippeth.
7 (KAT) Kto neprijíma rád pokarhanie, tam je stopa hriešnika, ale kto sa bojí Boha, srdcom sa obráti.

8 (KJV) He that buildeth his house with other men's money is like one that gathereth himself stones for the tomb of his burial.
8 (KAT) Už zďaleka možno poznať hrdinu smelého jazyka: rozumný vie, že by mu mohol zaviniť pád.

9 (KJV) The congregation of the wicked is like tow wrapped together: and the end of them is a flame of fire to destroy them.
9 (KAT) Kto si buduje dom na cudzí náklad, podobá sa tomu, kto si zbiera kameň na zimu.

10 (KJV) The way of sinners is made plain with stones, but at the end thereof is the pit of hell.
10 (KAT) Množstvo hriešnikov je ako nahromadená kúdeľ, ich koniec bude ohnivý plameň.

11 (KJV) He that keepeth the law of the Lord getteth the understanding thereof: and the perfection of the fear of the Lord is wisdom.
11 (KAT) Cesta hriešnikov je vydláždená kameňom: no na konci na nich čakajú: podsvetie, tmy a tresty.

12 (KJV) He that is not wise will not be taught: but there is a wisdom which multiplieth bitterness.
12 (KAT) Kto chce zachovávať zákon, vniká do jeho zmyslu.

13 (KJV) The knowledge of a wise man shall abound like a flood: and his counsel is like a pure fountain of life.
13 (KAT) Vrcholným plodom bázne pred Bohom je múdrosť a rozumnosť.

14 (KJV) The inner parts of a fool are like a broken vessel, and he will hold no knowledge as long as he liveth.
14 (KAT) Nemožno vzdelávať toho, kto nechce byť múdry v dobrom.

15 (KJV) If a skilful man hear a wise word, he will commend it, and add unto it: but as soon as one of no understanding heareth it, it displeaseth him, and he casteth it behind his back.
15 (KAT) Je aj múdrosť, ktorá má v sebe hojne zla: niet však rozumnosti tam, kde je trpké (násilie).

16 (KJV) The talking of a fool is like a burden in the way: but grace shall be found in the lips of the wise.
16 (KAT) Vedomosti múdreho sa šíria ako povodeň a jeho rada je stále ako živý prameň.

17 (KJV) They enquire at the mouth of the wise man in the congregation, and they shall ponder his words in their heart.
17 (KAT) Srdce pochabého je ako rozbitá nádoba, nijakú múdrosť neudrží v sebe.

18 (KJV) As is a house that is destroyed, so is wisdom to a fool: and the knowledge of the unwise is as talk without sense.
18 (KAT) Akékoľvek rozumné slovo počuje vzdelanec, pochváli ho a ďalšie pridá k nemu; ak ho počuje spustlý človek, neľúbi sa mu a odhodí ho za svoj chrbát.

19 (KJV) Doctrine unto fools is as fetters on the feet, and like manacles on the right hand.
19 (KAT) Rozhovor s pochabým - to je ako bremeno pre pocestného, na ústach rozumného možno nájsť pôvab.

20 (KJV) A fool lifteth up his voice with laughter; but a wise man doth scarce smile a little.
20 (KAT) V zhromaždení žiadajú si (počuť) ústa múdreho a o jeho slovách budú uvažovať v srdci.

21 (KJV) Learning is unto a wise man as an ornament of gold, and like a bracelet upon his right arm.
21 (KAT) Múdrosť je pre pochabého ako zbúraný dom: a čo vie nerozumný, je reč bez zmyslu.

22 (KJV) A foolish man's foot is soon in his [neighbour's] house: but a man of experience is ashamed of him.
22 (KAT) Čím sú putá pre nohy, tým je náuka pre pochabého, pôsobí ako ručné okovy, vložené na jeho pravú ruku.

23 (KJV) A fool will peep in at the door into the house: but he that is well nurtured will stand without.
23 (KAT) Pochabý pri smiechu zosilňuje hlas; ale múdry sa sotva potichu usmieva.

24 (KJV) It is the rudeness of a man to hearken at the door: but a wise man will be grieved with the disgrace.
24 (KAT) Náuka je múdremu zlatou ozdobou, akoby bola náramkom na pravej ruke.

25 (KJV) The lips of talkers will be telling such things as pertain not unto them: but the words of such as have understanding are weighed in the balance.
25 (KAT) Noha pochabého ľahko (vkročí) do domu blížneho: ale skúsený človek príde do rozpakov pred mocným vladárom.

26 (KJV) The heart of fools is in their mouth: but the mouth of the wise is in their heart.
26 (KAT) Pochabý oknom nazerá do domu, no kto je dobre vychovaný, ostáva stáť vonku.

27 (KJV) When the ungodly curseth Satan, he curseth his own soul.
27 (KAT) Pochabosť je načúvať pri dverách, lebo múdreho trápi, ak niekoho hania.

28 (KJV) A whisperer defileth his own soul, and is hated wheresoever he dwelleth.
28 (KAT) Pery nemúdrych hovoria o pochabostiach, kým múdri kladú svoje slová na vážky.

29 (KAT) Pochabí nosia srdce na ústach, no múdri majú v srdci svoje ústa.

30 (KAT) Keď bezbožný zlorečí satanovi, akoby zlorečil sebe samému.

31 (KAT) Klebetár poškvrňuje seba samého, preto ho každý nenávidí; nenávidený je aj ten, kto s ním spolu drží: len mlčanlivý a múdry muž si získa úctu.
