Sir 14, 1-27

1 (KJV) Blessed is the man that hath not slipped with his mouth, and is not pricked with the multitude of sins.

2 (KJV) Blessed is he whose conscience hath not condemned him, and who is not fallen from his hope in the Lord.

3 (KJV) Riches are not comely for a niggard: and what should an envious man do with money?

Sir 14,10 - Podľa gréckeho je takto:"Zlé oko závistlivo hľadí na chlieb,aj za svojím stolom trie biedu."

Sir 14,12 - Podľa hebrejského má 12b znieť: "Záväzok podsvetia nebol ti zjavený." To jest: nevieš, kedy bude smrť žiadať od teba svoje právo, a tak nemôžeš vedieť, kedy zomrieš. Podľa latinského: "človeku bol ukázaný zákon", t. j. každý vie, že sme smrteľní.

Sir 14,12 - – Tento verš má grécky text až v 18b:"Každý človek ako rúcho zostarieva,lebo je to odveký zákon: Isto zomrieš."

Sir 14,14 - Sir ukázal doteraz, kto užíva svoj majetok nesprávne. Odteraz poukazuje na správnu životosprávu: ako totiž správne užívať dary prírody a vôbec hodnoty. Sám život je už samo v sebe jedna z najväčších hodnôt. Treba si preto život múdro zariadiť, aby sme zažili v ňom aj radosti.

Sir 14,22-27 - Múdrosť si máme predstaviť ako osobu, po ktorej človek túži ako po svojej láske a nevie sa uspokojiť, kým ju nedostane. Láska k nej je šľachetná ako čistá láska milujúceho milovanej osobe.
