Sdc 8, 1-35

1 (UKJV) And the men of Ephraim said unto him, Why have you served us thus, that you called us not, when you went to fight with the Midianites? And they did chide with him sharply.
1 (ROH) A mužovia Efraimovi mu riekli: Jaká je to vec, ktorú si nám to vykonal, že si nás nepovolal, keď si išiel bojovať proti Madianovi? A prudko sa s ním dohadovali.

2 (UKJV) And he said unto them, What have I done now in comparison of you? Is not the gleaning of the grapes of Ephraim better than the vintage of Abiezer?

3 (UKJV) God has delivered into your hands the princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb: and what was I able to do in comparison of you? Then their anger was decreased toward him, when he had said that.
3 (ROH) Veď do vašej ruky dal Bôh kniežatá Madianove, Oréba a Zeéba, nuž čože také som ja mohol vykonať ako vy? Vtedy upustil ich duch od neho, keď im to hovoril.

4 (UKJV) And Gideon came to Jordan, and passed over, he, and the three hundred men that were with him, faint, yet pursuing them.
4 (ROH) A Gedeon prišiel k Jordánu a prešiel cezeň on i tých tristo mužov, ktorí boli s ním, ustatí prenasledujúc nepriateľa.

5 (UKJV) "And he said unto the men of Succoth, Give, I pray you, loaves of bread unto the people that follow me; for they be faint, and I am pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian. "
5 (ROH) Preto povedal mužom mesta Sukkóta: Dajte, prosím, ľudu, ktorý ide za mnou, niekoľko pecňov chleba, lebo sú ustatí, a ja honím Zebacha a Calmunnu, madianských kráľov.

6 (UKJV) And the princes of Succoth said, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in your hand, that we should give bread unto your army?
6 (ROH) A kniežatá Sukkóta povedali: Či je azda päsť Zebachova a Calmunnova už v tvojej ruke, aby sme dali tvojmu vojsku chleba?

7 (UKJV) And Gideon said, Therefore when the LORD has delivered Zebah and Zalmunna into mine hand, then I will tear your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness and with briers.
7 (ROH) Na to riekol Gedeon: Preto, keď dá Hospodin Zebacha a Calmunnu do mojej ruky, zmlátim vaše telo tŕňami púšte a bodliakmi.

8 (UKJV) And he went up thence to Penuel, and spoke unto them likewise: and the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Succoth had answered him.
8 (ROH) A odíduc odtiaľ hore do Penuela hovoril im podobne.

9 (UKJV) And he spoke also unto the men of Penuel, saying, When I come again in peace, I will break down this tower.

10 (UKJV) Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor, and their hosts with them, about fifteen thousand men, all that were left of all the hosts of the children of the east: for there fell an hundred and twenty thousand men that drew sword.
10 (ROH) A Zebach a Calmunna boli v Karkore a ich tábor vojska s nimi, okolo pätnásť tisíc mužov, všetci, ktorí boli pozostali z celého tábora synov východu. A tých, ktorí padli, bolo sto dvadsať tisíc mužov, všetko takí, ktorí narábali mečom.

11 (UKJV) "And Gideon went up by the way of them that dwelt in tents on the east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and stroke the host; for the host was secure. "

12 (UKJV) And when Zebah and Zalmunna fled, he pursued after them, and took the two kings of Midian, Zebah and Zalmunna, and humiliated all the host.
12 (ROH) A keď utekali Zebach a Calmunna, honil ich a zajal oboch kráľov Madianových, Zebacha a Calmunnu, predesiac všetko vojsko.

13 (UKJV) And Gideon the son of Joash returned from battle before the sun was up,

14 (UKJV) And caught a young man of the men of Succoth, and enquired of him: and he described unto him the princes of Succoth, and the elders thereof, even threescore and seventeen men.

15 (UKJV) And he came unto the men of Succoth, and said, Behold Zebah and Zalmunna, with whom all of you did reproach me, saying, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in your hand, that we should give bread unto your men that are weary?
15 (ROH) A prijdúc k mužom Sukkóta povedal: Tu hľa, Zebach a Calmunna, pre ktorých ste ma pohanili povediac: Či je azda päsť Zebachova a Calmunnova už vo tvojej ruke, aby sme dali tvojim ustatým mužom chleba?

16 (UKJV) And he took the elders of the city, and thorns of the wilderness and briers, and with them he taught the men of Succoth.
16 (ROH) Preto vezmúc starších mesta i tŕne púšte i bodliaky dal nimi cítiť mužom Sukkóta svoju moc.

17 (UKJV) And he beat down the tower of Penuel, and slew the men of the city.
17 (ROH) Aj vežu Penuela rozboril a pobil mužov mesta.

18 (UKJV) "Then said he unto Zebah and Zalmunna, What manner of men were they whom all of you slew at Tabor? And they answered, As you are, so were they; each one resembled the children of a king. "

19 (UKJV) And he said, They were my brethren, even the sons of my mother: as the LORD lives, if all of you had saved them alive, I would not slay you.
19 (ROH) A riekol: Moji bratia, synovia mojej matky, to boli. Jako že žije Hospodin, keby ste ich boli nechali žiť, nebol by som vás zabil.

20 (UKJV) And he said unto Jether his firstborn, Up, and slay them. But the youth drew not his sword: for he feared, because he was yet a youth.
20 (ROH) A povedal Jeterovi, svojmu prvorodenému: Vstaň, zabi ich!

21 (UKJV) Then Zebah and Zalmunna said, Rise you, and fall upon us: for as the man is, so is his strength. And Gideon arose, and slew Zebah and Zalmunna, and took away the ornaments that were on their camels' necks.

22 (UKJV) Then the men of Israel said unto Gideon, Rule you over us, both you, and your son, and your son's son also: for you have delivered us from the hand of Midian.
22 (ROH) Potom povedali izraelskí mužovia Gedeonovi: Panuj nad nami i ty i tvoj syn i syn tvojho syna; lebo si nás zachránil z ruky Madiana.

23 (UKJV) And Gideon said unto them, I will not rule over you, neither shall my son rule over you: the LORD shall rule over you.
23 (ROH) Ale Gedeon im riekol: Nebudem ja panovať nad vami ani nebude panovať nad vami môj syn. Hospodin bude panovať nad vami.

24 (UKJV) And Gideon said unto them, I would desire a request of you, that all of you would give me every man the earrings of his prey. (For they had golden earrings, because they were Ishmaelites.)
24 (ROH) A ešte im povedal Gedeon: Toto by som žiadal od vás: Dajte mi každý náušnicu zo svojej koristi. Lebo nepriatelia mali zlaté náušnice, pretože boli Izmaeliti.

25 (UKJV) And they answered, We will willingly give them. And they spread a garment, and did cast therein every man the earrings of his prey.
25 (ROH) Na to mu povedali: Dáme vďačne. A prestreli rúcho a hodili ta každý náušnicu zo svojej koristi.

26 (UKJV) "And the weight of the golden earrings that he requested was a thousand and seven hundred shekels of gold; beside ornaments, and collars, and purple raiment that was on the kings of Midian, and beside the chains that were about their camels' necks. "
26 (ROH) A bolo váhy zlatých náušníc, ktoré vyžiadal, tisíc sedemsto šeklov zlata krome ozdobných mesiačikov a záveskov perlovej podoby a purpurového rúcha, ktoré mali na sebe madianskí kráľovia, a krome nákrčníkov, ktoré boly na hrdlách ich veľblúdov.

27 (UKJV) And Gideon made an ephod thereof, and put it in his city, even in Ophrah: and all Israel went thither a whoring after it: which thing became a snare unto Gideon, and to his house.
27 (ROH) A Gedeon z toho urobil efod a složil ho vo svojom meste, v Ofre.

28 (UKJV) Thus was Midian subdued before the children of Israel, so that they lifted up their heads no more. And the country was in quietness forty years in the days of Gideon.
28 (ROH) A tak bol Madian zohnutý pred synmi Izraelovými, ani viacej nepozdvihli svojej hlavy. A zem mala pokoj štyridsať rokov, vo dňoch Gedeonových.

29 (UKJV) And Jerubbaal the son of Joash went and dwelt in his own house.
29 (ROH) A Jerubbál, syn Joasov, odišiel a býval vo svojom dome.

30 (UKJV) And Gideon had threescore and ten sons of his body begotten: for he had many wives.
30 (ROH) A Gedeon mal sedemdesiat synov, ktorí pošli z jeho bedra, lebo mal mnoho žien.

31 (UKJV) And his concubine that was in Shechem, she also bare him a son, whose name he called Abimelech.
31 (ROH) I jeho ženina, ktorú mal v Sicheme, porodila mu syna, a pridal mu meno Abimelech.

32 (UKJV) And Gideon the son of Joash died in a good old age, and was buried in the tomb of Joash his father, in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.
32 (ROH) A keď zomrel Gedeon, syn Joasov, v dobrej starobe, pochovaný bol v hrobe Joasa, svojho otca, v Ofre Abiezerovej.

33 (UKJV) And it came to pass, as soon as Gideon was dead, that the children of Israel turned again, and went a whoring after Baalim, and made Baalberith their god.

34 (UKJV) And the children of Israel remembered not the LORD their God, who had delivered them out of the hands of all their enemies on every side:

35 (UKJV) Neither showed they kindness to the house of Jerubbaal, namely, Gideon, according to all the goodness which he had showed unto Israel.
35 (ROH) Ani neučinili milosrdenstva s domom Jerubbálovým, Gedeonovým, podľa všetkého toho dobrého, ktoré učinil Izraelovi.

Sdc 8, 1-35

Verš 1
And the men of Ephraim said unto him, Why have you served us thus, that you called us not, when you went to fight with the Midianites? And they did chide with him sharply.
Sdc 12:1 - And the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and went northward, and said unto Jephthah, Wherefore passed you over to fight against the children of Ammon, and did not call us to go with you? we will burn your house upon you with fire.

Verš 12
And when Zebah and Zalmunna fled, he pursued after them, and took the two kings of Midian, Zebah and Zalmunna, and humiliated all the host.
Ž 83:11 - Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:

Verš 21
Then Zebah and Zalmunna said, Rise you, and fall upon us: for as the man is, so is his strength. And Gideon arose, and slew Zebah and Zalmunna, and took away the ornaments that were on their camels' necks.
Ž 83:11 - Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:

Sdc 8,1-3 - Na sebavedomé a tiež sebecké výčitky Efraimcov dáva Gedeon duchaplnú odpoveď, ktorou ich odzbrojuje.

– Zebee (hebr.

Sdc 8,27 - Porov. Ex 34,15; Lv 17,7; Dt 31,16. Bola to modloslužba, ktorú Sväté písmo nazýva "smilstvom".

Sdc 8,28 - Porov. 3,11.30; 4,23; 5,31 n.

Sdc 8,31 - Sichem ležal v údolí medzi Garizimom a Ebalom (Hebalom); porov. Gn 12,6 n.; 33,18 nn.; 34; Joz 24,1. – Abimelech, t. j.
