1 (KAT) Tu vytiahli všetci Izraeliti od Dana až po Bersabu, aj krajina Galaád, a zástup sa zhromaždil ako jeden muž k Pánovi do Masfy.
1 (VUL) Egressi sunt itaque omnes fi lii Israel et pariter congrega ti, quasi vir unus, de Dan usque Bersabee et terra Galaad ad Dominum in Maspha.
1 (UKJV) Then all the children of Israel went out, and the congregation was gathered together as one man, from Dan even to Beersheba, with the land of Gilead, unto the LORD in Mizpeh.

2 (KAT) Dostavili sa vodcovia všetkého ľudu, všetkých izraelských kmeňov, na zhromaždenie Božieho ľudu, štyristotisíc pešiakov vyzbrojených mečom.
2 (VUL) Omnisque populi anguli et cunctae tribus Israel in ecclesiam populi Dei convenerunt: quadringenta milia peditum pugnatorum.
2 (UKJV) And the chief of all the people, even of all the tribes of Israel, presented themselves in the assembly of the people of God, four hundred thousand footmen that drew sword.

3 (KAT) Benjamínovci sa dopočuli, že Izraeliti vytiahli do Masfy. Izraeliti sa pýtali: „Povedzte len, ako sa stal tento zločin?“
3 (VUL) Nec latuit filios Beniamin, quod ascendissent filii Israel in Maspha. Interrogatusque Levita maritus mulieris interfectae quo modo tantum scelus perpetratum esset,
3 (UKJV) (Now the children of Benjamin heard that the children of Israel were gone up to Mizpeh.) Then said the children of Israel, Tell us, how was this wickedness?

4 (KAT) A levita, manžel zavraždenej ženy, odpovedal takto: „So svojou vedľajšou ženou som prišiel do Benjamínovej Gabay, aby som (tam) prenocoval.

5 (UKJV) And the men of Gibeah rose against me, and beset the house round about upon me by night, and thought to have slain me: and my concubine have they forced, that she is dead.

6 (KAT) Chytil som svoju vedľajšiu ženu, rozsekal som ju a rozoslal som ju po celom území Izraelovho dedičného vlastníctva, lebo sa dopustili ohavného činu v Izraeli.

7 (KAT) Hľa, ste tu všetci, Izraelovi synovia! Poraďte sa, rozhodnite tu!“
7 (VUL) Adestis omnes, filii Israel: decernite quid facere debeatis ”.
7 (UKJV) "Behold, all of you are all children of Israel; give here your advice and counsel. "

8 (KAT) Nato povstal všetok ľud ako jeden muž a volal: „Nik z nás nepôjde do svojho stanu. Nik z nás sa neodoberie do svojho domu.
8 (VUL) Stansque omnis populus quasi unius hominis sermone respondit: “ Non recedemus in tabernacula nostra, nec suam quisquam intrabit domum,
8 (UKJV) And all the people arose as one man, saying, We will not any of us go to his tent, neither will we any of us turn into his house.

9 (KAT) Teraz toto urobíme s Gabaou: Podľa lósa (vytiahneme) proti nej.
9 (VUL) sed hoc contra Gabaa in commune faciemus secundum sortem:
9 (UKJV) "But now this shall be the thing which we will do to Gibeah; we will go up by lot against it; "

10 (KAT) Zo všetkých Izraelových kmeňov vezmeme po desať mužov zo sta, po sto z tisíca a po tisíc z desaťtisíca, aby priniesli ľudu potravu. Po ich návrate urobíme Benjamínovej Gabae, ako si zasluhuje, podľa celej ohavnosti, ktorá sa stala v Izraeli.“

11 (KAT) A všetci Izraeliti sa zhromaždili k mestu ako jeden muž, ako spojenec.
11 (VUL) Convenitque universus Israel ad civitatem quasi unus homo, eadem mente unoque consilio,
11 (UKJV) So all the men of Israel were gathered against the city, knit together as one man.

12 (KAT) Izraelské kmene vyslali mužov k celému Benjamínovmu kmeňu s odkazom: „Aký je to zločin, ktorý sa stal u vás?!
12 (VUL) et miserunt nuntios ad omnem tribum Beniamin, qui dicerent: “ Quale nefas in vobis repertum est!
12 (UKJV) And the tribes of Israel sent men through all the tribe of Benjamin, saying, What wickedness is this that is done among you?

14 (KAT) ale zo všetkých svojich miest sa zišli do Gabay, aby vytiahli do boja proti Izraelovým synom.
14 (VUL) sed ex cunctis urbibus, quae suae sortis erant, convenerunt in Gabaa, ut illis ferrent auxilium et contra universum Israel populum dimicarent.
14 (UKJV) But the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together out of the cities unto Gibeah, to go out to battle against the children of Israel.

15 (KAT) Benjamínovcov, iba z miest, napočítali v ten deň dvadsaťšesťtisíc mužov vyzbrojených mečom, okrem obyvateľov Gabay, ktorých napočítali sedemsto vybraných mužov.
15 (VUL) Recensitique sunt in die illa viginti sex milia de civitatibus Beniamin educentium gladium, praeter habitatores Gabaa, qui septingenti erant viri fortissimi.
15 (UKJV) And the children of Benjamin were numbered at that time out of the cities twenty and six thousand men that drew sword, beside the inhabitants of Gibeah, which were numbered seven hundred chosen men.

16 (KAT) Medzi všetkými týmito ľuďmi bolo sedemsto vybraných mužov ľavorukých. Títo všetci hádzali kameňom navlas bezchybne.
16 (VUL) In universo hoc populo erant septingenti viri electi, qui sinistra pro dextra utebantur et sic fundis lapides ad certum iaciebant, ut capillum quoque possent percutere, et nequaquam in alteram partem ictus lapidis deferretur.
16 (UKJV) "Among all this people there were seven hundred chosen men lefthanded; every one could sling stones at an hair breadth, and not miss. "

17 (KAT) Izraelského mužstva, bez Benjamínovcov, napočítali štyristotisíc mužov vyzbrojených mečom. Boli to všetko udatní bojovníci.
17 (VUL) Virorum quoque Israel, absque filiis Beniamin, recensita sunt quadringenta milia educentium gladios et paratorum ad pugnam.
17 (UKJV) And the men of Israel, beside Benjamin, were numbered four hundred thousand men that drew sword: all these were men of war.

18 (KAT) I vstali, šli do Betela a dopytovali sa Boha. Izraeliti sa pýtali: „Kto z nás má prvý vytiahnuť do boja proti Benjamínovcom?“ Pán odpovedal: „Júda najsamprv!“
18 (VUL) Qui surgentes venerunt in Bethel consulueruntque Deum atque dixerunt: “ Quis erit in exercitu nostro princeps certaminis contra filios Beniamin? ”. Quibus respondit Dominus: “ Iuda ascendet primus ”.
18 (UKJV) And the children of Israel arose, and went up to the house of God, and asked counsel of God, and said, Which of us shall go up first to the battle against the children of Benjamin? And the LORD said, Judah shall go up first.

19 (KAT) Ráno Izraeliti vstali a utáborili sa pred Gabaou.
19 (VUL) Statimque filii Israel surgentes mane castrametati sunt contra Gabaa;
19 (UKJV) And the children of Israel rose up in the morning, and encamped against Gibeah.

20 (KAT) Izraeliti teda vytiahli do boja proti Benjamínovcom. A izraelské mužstvo zaujalo bojové postavenie pred Gabaou.
20 (VUL) et inde procedentes ad pugnam contra Beniamin, contra urbem aciem direxerunt.
20 (UKJV) "And the men of Israel went out to battle against Benjamin; and the men of Israel put themselves in array to fight against them at Gibeah. "

21 (KAT) Vtom však Benjamínovci vyrazili z Gabay a v ten deň položili na zem dvadsaťdvatisíc mužov z Izraelitov.
21 (VUL) Egressique filii Beniamin de Gabaa occiderunt de filiis Israel die illo viginti duo milia viros.
21 (UKJV) And the children of Benjamin came forth out of Gibeah, and destroyed down to the ground of the Israelites that day twenty and two thousand men.

22 (KAT) Ale izraelské mužstvo sa vzchopilo a ešte raz zaujalo bojové postavenie na tom mieste, kde sa zriaďovalo v prvý deň.
22 (VUL) Rursum filii Israel confortati in eodem loco, in quo prius certaverant, aciem direxerunt,
22 (UKJV) And the people the men of Israel encouraged themselves, and set their battle again in array in the place where they put themselves in array the first day.

23 (KAT) Ale Izraeliti najprv šli a plakali až do večera pred Pánom. Potom sa opýtali Pána: „Máme ešte raz vytiahnuť do boja proti našim bratom Benjamínovcom?“ Pán odpovedal: „Vytiahnite proti nim!“
23 (VUL) ita tamen ut prius ascenderent et flerent coram Domino usque ad noctem consulerentque eum et dicerent: “ Debeo ultra procedere ad dimicandum contra filios Beniamin fratres meos, an non? ”. Quibus ille respondit: “ Ascendite ad eos ”.
23 (UKJV) (And the children of Israel went up and wept before the LORD until even, and asked counsel of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up again to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother? And the LORD said, Go up against him.)

24 (KAT) A na druhý deň Izraeliti zaútočili na Benjamínovcov.
24 (VUL) Cumque filii Israel altero die contra filios Beniamin ad proelium processissent,
24 (UKJV) And the children of Israel came near against the children of Benjamin the second day.

25 (KAT) Lenže aj na druhý deň vyrazili proti nim Benjamínovci z Gabay a položili z Izraelitov na zem ešte osemnásťtisíc mužov, všetko vyzbrojených mečom.
25 (VUL) eruperunt filii Beniamin de Gabaa et occurrentes eis iterum decem et octo milia virorum educentium gladium prostraverunt.
25 (UKJV) "And Benjamin went forth against them out of Gibeah the second day, and destroyed down to the ground of the children of Israel again eighteen thousand men; all these drew the sword. "

26 (KAT) Tu vytiahli všetci Izraeliti, všetok ľud, a prišli do Betela. Plakali a zostali tam pred Pánom, postili sa v ten deň až do večera a obetovali Pánovi zápalné a pokojné obety.
26 (VUL) Quam ob rem omnes filii Israel, universus populus, venerunt in Bethel et sedentes flebant coram Domino ieiunaveruntque die illo usque ad vesperam et obtulerunt ei holocausta et pacificas victimas
26 (UKJV) Then all the children of Israel, and all the people, went up, and came unto the house of God, and wept, and sat there before the LORD, and fasted that day until even, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.

27 (KAT) Potom sa Izraeliti pýtali Pána - v tých dňoch tam totiž bola archa Pánovej zmluvy
27 (VUL) et super statu suo interrogaverunt. Eo tempore ibi erat arca foederis Dei,
27 (UKJV) And the children of Israel enquired of the LORD, (for the ark of the covenant of God was there in those days,

28 (KAT) a Finés, syn Áronovho syna Eleazara, konal v tých dňoch pred ňou službu - a vraveli: „Máme ešte raz vytiahnuť do boja proti našim bratom Benjamínovcom? Alebo sa máme toho vzdať?“ Pán odpovedal: „Vytiahnite! Lebo zajtra ich vydám do vašej ruky.“

29 (KAT) Nato Izraeliti postavili ľudí do zálohy okolo Gabay.
29 (VUL) Posueruntque filii Israel insidias per circuitum urbis Gabaa
29 (UKJV) And Israel set hidden attackers in wait round about Gibeah.

30 (KAT) Na tretí deň vytiahli Izraeliti proti Benjamínovcom a zriadili sa ako predošlé razy do bojového postavenia proti Gabae.
30 (VUL) et tertia vice sicut semel et bis contra Beniamin et Gabaa exercitum produxerunt.
30 (UKJV) And the children of Israel went up against the children of Benjamin on the third day, and put themselves in array against Gibeah, as at other times.

31 (KAT) Benjamínovci vyrazili proti ľudu, dali sa odrezať od mesta a začali na cestách, z ktorých jedna stúpala do Betela a druhá cez pole do Gabay, zabíjať - ako predošlé razy - niektorých z ľudu, asi tridsať mužov z Izraelitov.
31 (VUL) Sed et filii Beniamin eruperunt in occursum populi et abstracti de civitate coeperunt caedere ex eis sicut primo et secundo die, per duas semitas terga vertentes, quarum una ferebat in Bethel, altera in Gabaa, atque prosternere in campo triginta circiter viros.

32 (KAT) Benjamínovci sa domnievali: „Porazili sme ich ako prvý raz.“ Izraeliti sa však dohovorili: „Dáme sa na útek, aby sme ich vylákali od mesta na cesty.“

33 (KAT) Všetci Izraeliti teda vstali zo svojich stanovíšť a zriadili sa pri Báltamare. Izraelská záloha zas vyrazila zo svojho stanovišťa, západne od Gabay.
33 (VUL) Omnes itaque viri Israel surgentes de sedibus suis tetenderunt aciem in loco, qui vocatur Baalthamar. Insidiae quoque eruperunt de loco suo, de regione in occidente Gabaa.
33 (UKJV) And all the men of Israel rose up out of their place, and put themselves in array at Baaltamar: and the hidden attackers in wait of Israel came forth out of their places, even out of the meadows of Gibeah.

34 (KAT) Tak pritiahlo pred Gabau desaťtisíc mužov vybraných z celého Izraela a nastal tuhý boj. Tamtí však netušili, že ich zastihla pohroma.
34 (VUL) Venerunt ergo adversus Gabaa decem milia virorum electorum de universo Israel. Ingravatumque est bellum contra filios Beniamin, et non intellexerunt quod ex omni parte illis instaret interitus.
34 (UKJV) And there came against Gibeah ten thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and the battle was sore: but they knew not that evil was near them.

35 (KAT) Pán pomocou Izraelitov porazil Benjamínovcov. V ten deň Izraeliti pobili z Benjamínovcov dvadsaťpäťtisícsto mužov, všetko vyzbrojených mečom.
35 (VUL) Percussitque eos Dominus in conspectu filiorum Israel, et interfecerunt ex eis in illo die viginti quinque milia et centum viros, omnes bellatores et educentes gladium.
35 (UKJV) And the LORD stroke Benjamin before Israel: and the children of Israel destroyed of the Benjamites that day twenty and five thousand and an hundred men: all these drew the sword.

36 (KAT) Benjamínovci videli, že sú porazení. - Izraeliti totiž ustupovali pred Benjamínovcami, lebo sa spoliehali na zálohu, ktorú postavili proti Gabae.
36 (VUL) Filii autem Beniamin, cum se inferiores esse vidissent, coeperunt fugere. Quod cernentes filii Israel, dederunt eis ad fugiendum locum, quia confidebant in insidiis, quas iuxta urbem posuerant.
36 (UKJV) So the children of Benjamin saw that they were smitten: for the men of Israel gave place to the Benjamites, because they trusted unto the hidden attackers in wait which they had set beside Gibeah.

37 (KAT) Záloha náhle vyrazila na Gabau a záloha vnikla a pobila celé mesto ostrím meča.
37 (VUL) Qui cum repente de latibulis surrexissent, irruerunt super Gabaa et ingressi celeriter percusserunt totam civitatem in ore gladii.
37 (UKJV) "And the hidden attackers in wait hasted, and rushed upon Gibeah; and the hidden attackers in wait drew themselves along, and stroke all the city with the edge of the sword. "

38 (KAT) Izraeliti sa uzhovorili so záložníkmi, že nechajú z mesta vystúpiť chumáč dymu.
38 (VUL) Signum autem dederant filii Israel his, quos in insidiis collocaverant, ut ignem accenderent et, ascendente in altum fumo, captam urbem demonstrarent.
38 (UKJV) Now there was an appointed sign between the men of Israel and the hidden attackers in wait, that they should make a great flame with smoke rise up out of the city.

39 (KAT) Keď sa Izraeliti v boji obzreli - práve začali Benjamínovci niektorých z Izraelitov biť a zabili asi tridsať mužov v domnienke, že ich už porazili ako v prvom boji -,
39 (VUL) Verterant ergo terga filii Israel in ipso certamine positi, et filii Beniamin putantes quod percussissent eos sicut in priore pugna, coeperant de exercitu eorum caedere triginta fere viros.
39 (UKJV) And when the men of Israel retired in the battle, Benjamin began to strike and kill of the men of Israel about thirty persons: for they said, Surely they are smitten down before us, as in the first battle.

40 (KAT) začal už z mesta vystupovať chumáč dymu. Keď sa Benjamínovci obzreli, bolo už celé mesto v nebotyčných plameňoch.
40 (VUL) Cum autem columna fumi de civitate conscendere coepisset, et Beniamin quoque retro aspiciens cerneret de civitate flammas in sublime ferri,
40 (UKJV) But when the flame began to arise up out of the city with a pillar of smoke, the Benjamites looked behind them, and, behold, the flame of the city ascended up to heaven.

41 (KAT) Tu sa Izraeliti obrátili, ale Benjamínovci sa preľakli, lebo videli, že ich zastihla pohroma.
41 (VUL) cumque vir Israel versa facie aggrederetur, vir Beniamin conturbatus est, quia vidit se apprehensum a malo.
41 (UKJV) And when the men of Israel turned again, the men of Benjamin were amazed: for they saw that evil was come upon them.

42 (KAT) A dali sa na útek pred Izraelitmi smerom na púšť. Ale boj ich aj tak zasiahol. Tí, ktorí došli z mesta, sekali ich v strede.
42 (VUL) Et ad viam deserti ire coeperunt, illuc quoque eos adversariis persequentibus. Sed et hi, qui urbem succenderant, occurrerunt eis,
42 (UKJV) "Therefore they turned their backs before the men of Israel unto the way of the wilderness; but the battle overtook them; and them which came out of the cities they destroyed in the midst of them. "

43 (UKJV) Thus they enclosed the Benjamites round about, and chased them, and trode them down with ease opposite to Gibeah toward the sunrising.

44 (KAT) Pritom padlo z Benjamínovcov osemnásťtisíc mužov, všetko udatných bojovníkov.
44 (VUL) Fuerunt autem, qui interfecti sunt de Beniamin, decem et octo milia virorum omnes robustissimi pugnatores.
44 (UKJV) "And there fell of Benjamin eighteen thousand men; all these were men of valour. "

45 (KAT) Opäť sa obrátili a utekali na púšť ku skale Remon. Ale na cestách napaberkovali z nich ešte päťtisíc mužov. Prenasledovali ich ďalej až po Gidom a zabili z nich ešte dvetisíc mužov.
45 (VUL) Qui remanserant, fugerunt in solitudinem et pergebant ad petram, cuius vocabulum est Remmon. Quasi racemos colligentes occiderunt in viis quinque milia viros. Et cum instantius eos persequerentur usque Gadaam, interfecerunt etiam alios duo milia.
45 (UKJV) "And they turned and fled toward the wilderness unto the rock of Rimmon: and they gleaned of them in the highways five thousand men; and pursued hard after them unto Gidom, and slew two thousand men of them. "

46 (KAT) Všetkých padlých Benjamínovcov bolo v ten deň dvadsaťpäťtisíc mužov, všetko udatných bojovníkov vyzbrojených mečom.
46 (VUL) Et sic factum est ut omnes, qui ceciderant de Beniamin in die illa, essent viginti quinque milia pugnatores ad bella promptissimi.
46 (UKJV) "So that all which fell that day of Benjamin were twenty and five thousand men that drew the sword; all these were men of valour. "

47 (KAT) Na púšť ku skale Remon sa podarilo utiecť iba šesťsto mužom. A zostali na skale Remon štyri mesiace.
47 (VUL) Remanserunt itaque, qui evadere potuerant et fugere in solitudinem, sescenti viri; sederuntque in petra Remmon mensibus quattuor.
47 (UKJV) But six hundred men turned and fled to the wilderness unto the rock Rimmon, and abode in the rock Rimmon four months.

48 (KAT) Izraeliti sa potom vrátili k Benjamínovcom a pobili ich ostrím meča od mužov až po dobytok, vôbec všetko, čo sa našlo v mestách. A všetky mestá, ktoré našli, vypálili ohňom.
48 (VUL) Regressi autem filii Israel ex civitatibus a viris usque ad iumenta, usque ad omne, quod inveniri poterat, gladio percusserunt, cunctasque urbes et viculos Beniamin vorax flamma consumpsit.
48 (UKJV) And the men of Israel turned again upon the children of Benjamin, and stroke them with the edge of the sword, as well the men of every city, as the beast, and all that came to hand: also they set on fire all the cities that they came to.
