1 (UKJV) "And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I swore unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you. "
1 (ROH) A vyšiel anjel, posol Hospodinov z Gilgala hore do Bochíma a riekol: Vyviedol som vás hore z Egypta a doviedol som vás do zeme, o ktorej som prisahal sľúbiac ju vašim otcom, a riekol som: Nezruším svojej smluvy s vami na veky.
2 (UKJV) "And all of you shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; all of you shall throw down their altars: but all of you have not obeyed my voice: why have all of you done this? "
2 (ROH) Ale ani vy neučiníte smluvy s obyvateľmi tejto zeme, ich oltáre rozboríte. No, neposlúchli ste môjho hlasu; čo ste to urobili?
3 (UKJV) "Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you. "
3 (ROH) A preto som tiež povedal: Nezaženiem ich zpred vašej tvári, a budú vám tŕňami do bokov, a ich bohovia vám budú osídlom.
4 (UKJV) And it came to pass, when the angel of the LORD spoke these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.
4 (ROH) A stalo sa, keď hovoril anjel Hospodinov tieto slová všetkým synom Izraelovým, že ľudia pozdvihli svoj hlas a plakali.
5 (UKJV) And they called the name of that place Bochim: and they sacrificed there unto the LORD.
5 (ROH) A nazvali meno toho miesta Bochím . A obetovali tam Hospodinovi bitné obeti.
6 (UKJV) And when Joshua had let the people go, the children of Israel went every man unto his inheritance to possess the land.
6 (ROH) A tedy Jozua prepustil ľud, a synovia Izraelovi išli každý do svojho dedičstva zaujať zem dedičstva.
7 (UKJV) And the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the LORD, that he did for Israel.
7 (ROH) A ľud slúžil Hospodinovi po všetky dni Jozuove a po všetky dni starších, ktorí prežili Jozuu, ktorí videli všetky tie veľké skutky Hospodinove, ktoré činil Izraelovi.
8 (UKJV) And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being an hundred and ten years old.
8 (ROH) A keď zomrel Jozua, syn Núna, služobník Hospodinov, majúc sto desať rokov,
9 (UKJV) And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnathheres, in the mount of Ephraim, on the north side of the hill Gaash.
9 (ROH) pochovali ho na území jeho dedičstva, v Timnat-cherese, na vrchu Efraimovom, od severa vrchu Gáš.
10 (UKJV) And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.
10 (ROH) I celé to pokolenie bolo pripojené ku svojim otcom, a povstalo iné pokolenie po ňom, potomci, ktorí neznali Hospodina ani skutkov, ktoré učinil Izraelovi.
11 (UKJV) And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim:
11 (ROH) A synovia Izraelovi činili to, čo je zlé v očiach Hospodinových, a slúžili Bálom.
12 (UKJV) And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger.
12 (ROH) A tak opustili Hospodina, Boha svojich otcov, ktorý ich vyviedol z Egyptskej zeme, a odišli za inými bohmi, za bohmi z bohov národov, ktoré boly vôkol nich, a klaňali sa im a tak popudzovali Hospodina.
13 (UKJV) And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.
13 (ROH) A opustiac Hospodina slúžili Bálovi a Astartám.
14 (UKJV) And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.
14 (ROH) Vtedy sa zapálil hnev Hospodinov na Izraela a vydal ich do ruky lupičov, ktorí ich olupovali, a predal ich do ruky ich nepriateľov, ktorí boli naokolo, takže nemohli viacej obstáť pred svojimi nepriateľmi.
15 (UKJV) Anywhere they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for evil, as the LORD had said, and as the LORD had sworn unto them: and they were greatly distressed.
15 (ROH) Kamkoľvek vyšli, všade bola ruka Hospodinova proti nim na zlé, tak, ako hovoril Hospodin a jako im prisahal Hospodin, a bolo im veľmi úzko.
16 (UKJV) Nevertheless the LORD raised up judges, which delivered them out of the hand of those that spoiled them.
16 (ROH) A Hospodin im vzbudzoval sudcov, ktorí ich zachraňovali vyslobodzujúc ich z ruky tých, ktorí ich olupovali.
17 (UKJV) "And yet they would not hearken unto their judges, but they went a whoring after other gods, and bowed themselves unto them: they turned quickly out of the way which their fathers walked in, obeying the commandments of the LORD; but they did not so. "
17 (ROH) Ale nepočúvali ani na svojich sudcov, lebo smilnili odchádzaním za inými bohmi a klaňali sa im. Rýchle uhli s cesty, po ktorej išli ich otcovia poslúchajúc prikázania Hospodinove. Nerobili tak.
18 (UKJV) And when the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented the LORD because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them.
18 (ROH) A keď im vzbudzoval Hospodin sudcov, Hospodin bol so sudcom a zachránil ich z ruky ich nepriateľov, a bolo tak po všetky dni toho sudcu, lebo Hospodin želel počujúc ich vzdychanie pre ich utlačovateľov a ich honičov.
19 (UKJV) "And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way. "
19 (ROH) A stávalo sa, keď zomrel taký sudca, že sa znova porušili a robili horšie ako ich otcovia idúc za inými bohmi, aby im slúžili a aby sa im klaňali. Neupustili od svojich skutkov a od svojej cesty tvrdohlavej.
20 (UKJV) "And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel; and he said, Because that this people has transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened unto my voice; "
20 (ROH) Preto sa aj zapálil hnev Hospodinov na Izraela, a riekol: Pretože tento národ stále prestupuje moju smluvu, ktorú som prikázal ich otcom a nepočúvajú na môj hlas,
21 (UKJV) I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations which Joshua left when he died:
21 (ROH) ani ja nevyženiem viacej zpred ich tvári nikoho z národov, ktoré zanechal Jozua, keď zomrel,
22 (UKJV) That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the LORD to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not.
22 (ROH) nato, aby som nimi zkúšal Izraela, či budú ostríhať cestu prikázaní Hospodinových chodiac v nich, ako ostríhali ich otcovia, a či nebudú.
23 (UKJV) "Therefore the LORD left those nations, without driving them out hastily; neither delivered he them into the hand of Joshua. "
23 (ROH) A Hospodin ponechal tie národy a nevyhnal ich rýchle ani ich nedal do ruky Jozuu.

Verš 1
"And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I swore unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you. "
Gn 17:7 - And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your seed after you in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto you, and to your seed after you.

Dt 7:2 - "And when the LORD your God shall deliver them before you; you shall strike them, and utterly destroy them; you shall make no covenant with them, nor show mercy unto them: "
Dt 12:3 - "And all of you shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and all of you shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place. "

"Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you. "
Joz 23:13 - "Know for a certainty that the LORD your God will no more drive out any of these nations from before you; but they shall be snares and traps unto you, and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until all of you perish from off this good land which the LORD your God has given you. "
Ex 23:33 - They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against me: for if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto you.
Ex 34:12 - Take heed to yourself, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you go, lest it be for a snare in the midst of you:
Dt 7:16 - "And you shall consume all the people which the LORD your God shall deliver you; your eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shall you serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto you. "

And when Joshua had let the people go, the children of Israel went every man unto his inheritance to possess the land.

And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.
Ž 44:12 - You sell your people for nothing, and do not increase your wealth by their price.
Iz 50:1 - Thus says the LORD, Where is the bill of your mother's divorcement, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have all of you sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.

Anywhere they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for evil, as the LORD had said, and as the LORD had sworn unto them: and they were greatly distressed.
Lv 26:1 - All of you shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall all of you set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the LORD your God.
Dt 28:1 - And it shall come to pass, if you shall hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD your God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command you this day, that the LORD your God will set you on high above all nations of the earth:

"And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way. "
Sdc 3:12 - And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done evil in the sight of the LORD.

I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations which Joshua left when he died:
Joz 23:13 - "Know for a certainty that the LORD your God will no more drive out any of these nations from before you; but they shall be snares and traps unto you, and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until all of you perish from off this good land which the LORD your God has given you. "
Sdc 2,1-5 - O "Pánovom anjelovi" pozri Joz 5,14.16. – Anjel prichádza z Galgaly, izraelského to táborišťa, do Bochima. – Ku "zmluve, ktorú nezruší Pán naveky", porov. Ex 34,10 n. Izraeliti nesplnili podmienky vzájomnej zmluvy, preto ani Jahve nie je povinný splniť svoje prísľuby. Porov. Ex 23, 29–32; Dt 7,1–5; 12,3.
Sdc 2,6-9 - V. 6 je len málo rozšírený Joz 24,28. – V. 7 – Joz 24,31; v. 8 – Joz 24,29; v. 9 – Joz 24,30.
Sdc 2,11 - "Čo je zlé v Pánových očiach" – úcta cudzích bohov, modlárstvo. Porov. Dt 4,25; 17,2; 31,18.29; Sdc 3,7; 4,1; 6,1; 10,6; 13,1. – "Ba’al" pôvodne znamená ,pán', potom meno boha kanaánskych národov. Pod množným číslom sa rozumejú viacerí takíto miestni bohovia, ktorí mávali svoje zvláštne označenie, ako: Ba’al Sidón – Pán Sidona, Ba’al sidonský; Ba’al Sór – Ba’al týrsky. – "… národy, ktoré boli okolo nich", národy, s ktorými sa miešali. Porov. 1,21–35.
Sdc 2,13 - "'Aštóreth", Aštarta (množ. čís. "'aštaróth"), kanaánska bohyňa plodnosti, uctievaná aj u iných Semitov (napr. asýrska Ištar). Ako uctievali viacerých bálov, tak boli známe rôzne aštarty. K jej úcte stavali na výšinách alebo pod košatými stromami drevené stĺpy, koly ("ašery" alebo kamenné ihlany "maseby"), ktoré sa ukončievali znázornením bohyne. Niekedy zámenou Aštarta býva nazývaná Ašerou. Porov. 3,7.
Sdc 2,16 - V núdzi vzbudzoval Jahve sudcov Izraelitom. Sloveso "šáfat", od ktorého je odvodené meno šofét – sudca, znamená nielen súdiť, ale predovšetkým vysluhovať spravodlivosť, dopomáhať niekomu ku spravodlivosti a potom: vyslobodiť (1 Sam 24,16; 2 Sam 18,19.31). Izraelskí "sudcovia" boli pomstitelia krívd popáchaných na ľude, potom jeho vodcovia a osloboditelia a konečne vládcovia (nie však dediční). Porov. 2,18; 3,9.15.31.
Sdc 2,17 - Smilstvo – modlárstvo. Porov. Ex 34,15 n.; Lv 17,7; 20,6; Dt 31,16. – Cesta – spôsob života, mravy.
Sdc 2,21 - Jahve sa zaviazal, že vydá kanaánske národy do rúk Izraelitov (Ex 23,31). Tento Boží prísľub bol však viazaný na podmienku, že Izraeliti budú ctiť len jediného, pravého svojho Boha. Keďže nesplnili podmienku, nemôžu čakať ani splnenie prísľubu, ba naopak trest. Trest aj došiel, ktorý je zároveň skúškou Izraela (v. 22).
