And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
Dan 7:20 - "And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spoke very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows. "
Zjv 17:3 - So he carried me away in the spirit (o. pneuma) into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

"And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. "

And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all families, and tongues, and nations.

Zjv 11:7 - And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Zjv 17:8 - "The beast that you saw was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. "
Verš 10
He that leads into captivity shall go into captivity: he that kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
Gn 9:6 - Whoso sheds man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.
Mt 26:52 - Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again your sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
Zjv 14:12 - Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

"And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke as a dragon. "

And he execises all the power of the first beast before him, and causes the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

And he does great wonders, so that he makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,

And he causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Zjv 14:11 - And the smoke of their torment ascends up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receives the mark of his name.
Verš 18
"Here is wisdom. Let him that has understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. "
Zjv 17:9 - And here is the mind which has wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sits.
Zjv 13,1-10 - Boj so satanom, začatý v nebi (12, 7–9), prenáša sa na zem a konkretizuje sa v Rímskej ríši, ako v symbole Kristovho nepriateľa. Porov. 11, 7; Dan 7, 3–11. 21. 25.

Zjv 13,10 - Porov. Jer 15, 2.
Zjv 13,11 - Druhá šelma zosobňuje nepravých prorokov (16, 13; 19, 20; 20, 10).
Zjv 13,18 - Toto číslo sa vysvetľuje rozličným spôsobom. Písmená gréckej a hebrejskej abecedy mali aj číselnú hodnotu. Podľa poradia písmen hebrejskej abecedy číslo 666 dáva význam: Nero cisár, podľa gréckej abecedy: cisár Boh. Nero ako prvý prenasledovateľ kresťanov stal sa symbolom prenasledovania pre celé dejiny Cirkvi.
