And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
Dan 7:20 - And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.
Zjv 17:3 - So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
Zjv 11:2 - But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

Zjv 11:7 - And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Verš 10
He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
Gn 9:6 - Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.
Mt 26:52 - Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
Zjv 14:12 - Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,

And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Zjv 14:11 - And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
Verš 18
Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
Zjv 17:9 - And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.
Zjv 13,1-10 - Boj so satanom, začatý v nebi (12, 7–9), prenáša sa na zem a konkretizuje sa v Rímskej ríši, ako v symbole Kristovho nepriateľa. Porov. 11, 7; Dan 7, 3–11. 21. 25.

Zjv 13,10 - Porov. Jer 15, 2.
Zjv 13,11 - Druhá šelma zosobňuje nepravých prorokov (16, 13; 19, 20; 20, 10).
Zjv 13,18 - Toto číslo sa vysvetľuje rozličným spôsobom. Písmená gréckej a hebrejskej abecedy mali aj číselnú hodnotu. Podľa poradia písmen hebrejskej abecedy číslo 666 dáva význam: Nero cisár, podľa gréckej abecedy: cisár Boh. Nero ako prvý prenasledovateľ kresťanov stal sa symbolom prenasledovania pre celé dejiny Cirkvi.
