1 (UKJV) The elder unto the beloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth.
1 (LS) L'ancien, à Gaïus, le bien-aimé, que j' aime dans la vérité.

2 (UKJV) Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.
2 (LS) Bien-aimé, je souhaite que tu prospères à tous égards et sois en bonne santé, comme prospère l'état de ton âme.

3 (UKJV) For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, even as you walk in the truth.
3 (LS) J'ai été fort réjoui, lorsque des frères sont arrivés et ont rendu témoignage de la vérité qui est en toi, de la manière dont tu marches dans la vérité.

4 (UKJV) I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
4 (LS) Je n'ai pas de plus grande joie que d'apprendre que mes enfants marchent dans la vérité.

5 (UKJV) "Beloved, you do faithfully whatsoever you do to the brethren, and to strangers; "
5 (LS) Bien-aimé, tu agis fidèlement dans ce que tu fais pour les frères, et même pour des frères étrangers,

6 (UKJV) Which have borne witness of your love (o. agape) before the church: whom if you bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, you shall do well:
6 (LS) lesquels ont rendu témoignage de ta charité, en présence de l'Eglise. Tu feras bien de pourvoir à leur voyage d'une manière digne de Dieu.

7 (UKJV) Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.
7 (LS) Car c'est pour le nom de Jésus-Christ qu'ils sont partis, sans rien recevoir des païens.

8 (UKJV) We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellow-helpers to the truth.
8 (LS) Nous devons donc accueillir de tels hommes, afin d'être ouvriers avec eux pour la vérité.

9 (UKJV) I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them, receives us not.
9 (LS) J'ai écrit quelques mots à l'Eglise; mais Diotrèphe, qui aime à être le premier parmi eux, ne nous reçoit point.

10 (UKJV) Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he does, babbling against us with malicious words: (o. logos) and not content therewith, neither does he himself receive the brethren, and forbids them that would, and casts them out of the church.
10 (LS) C'est pourquoi, si je vais vous voir, je rappellerai les actes qu'il commet, en tenant contre nous de méchants propos; non content de cela, il ne reçoit pas les frères, et ceux qui voudraient le faire, il les en empêche et les chasse de l'Eglise.

11 (UKJV) Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that does good is of God: but he that does evil has not seen God.
11 (LS) Bien-aimé, n'imite pas le mal, mais le bien. Celui qui fait le bien est de Dieu; celui qui fait le mal n'a point vu Dieu.

12 (UKJV) "Demetrius has good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and all of you know that our record is true. "
12 (LS) Tous, et la vérité elle-même, rendent un bon témoignage à Démétrius; nous aussi, nous lui rendons témoignage, et tu sais que notre témoignage est vrai.

13 (UKJV) I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen write unto you:
13 (LS) J'aurais beaucoup de choses à t'écrire, mais je ne veux pas le faire avec l'encre et la plume.

14 (UKJV) But I trust I shall shortly see you, and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to you. Our friends salute you. Greet the friends by name.
14 (LS) J'espère te voir bientôt, et nous parlerons de bouche à bouche. Que la paix soit avec toi! Les amis te saluent. Salue les amis, chacun en particulier.
