3. Jánov list

1 (KJV) The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth.
1 (ROH) Starší milovanému Gájovi, ktorého ja milujem v pravde.

2 (KJV) Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
2 (ROH) Milovaný, prajem ti, žeby si sa mal vo všetkom dobre a že by si bol zdravý, tak ako sa má dobre tvoja duša.

3 (KJV) For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.
3 (ROH) Lebo som sa veľmi zaradoval, keď prichádzali bratia a svedčili o tvojej pravde, tak ako ty chodíš v pravde.

4 (KJV) I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
4 (ROH) Väčšej radosti nad to nemám, než aby som počul, že moje deti chodia v pravde.

5 (KJV) Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers;
5 (ROH) Milovaný verne činíš, čokoľvek robíš bratom a hosťom,

6 (KJV) Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well:
6 (ROH) ktorí dali tvojej láske svedoctvo pred sborom, ktorých keď vyprevadíš hodne Boha, dobre robíš.

7 (KJV) Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.
7 (ROH) Lebo vyšli za jeho meno neberúc ničoho od pohanov.

8 (KJV) We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth.
8 (ROH) My sme teda podlžni prijímať takých bratov, aby sme boli spolupracovníkmi pravde a cirkvi.

9 (KJV) I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.
9 (ROH) Písal som sboru, ale Diotrefes, ktorý chce byť prvým medzi nimi, nás neprijíma.

10 (KJV) Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.
10 (ROH) Preto ak prijdem, pripomeniem jeho skutky, ktoré robí, že hovorí o nás zlé reči a nemajúc dosť na tom, ani sám neprijíma bratov a tým, ktorí by chceli, bráni a vylučuje ich zo sboru.

11 (KJV) Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.
11 (ROH) Milovaný, nenasleduj zlého, ale dobré. Ten, kto činí dobré, je z Boha, ale kto robí zlé, nevidel Boha.

12 (KJV) Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true.
12 (ROH) Demetriovi dávajú všetci svedoctvo i sama pravda, a my tiež svedčíme, a viete, že naše svedoctvo je pravdivé.

13 (KJV) I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen write unto thee:
13 (ROH) Mal by som ti mnoho čo písať, ale nechcem ti napísať černidlom a perom.

14 (KJV) But I trust I shall shortly see thee, and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to thee. Our friends salute thee. Greet the friends by name.
14 (ROH) Lež nadejem sa, že ťa skoro uvidím, a budeme hovoriť ústa k ústam.

15 (ROH) Pokoj ti! Pozdravujú ťa priatelia. Pozdravuj priateľov podľa mena.
