1 (CPDV) The Elder, to Gaius, most beloved, whom I love in the truth.
1 (HEM) הזקן אל גיוס החביב אשר אני אהב אתו באמת׃
1 (KAT) Ja, starší, milovanému Gájovi, ktorého milujem v pravde.

2 (CPDV) Most beloved, concerning everything, I make it my prayer that you may benefit by advancing and succeeding in whatever may be to the benefit of your soul.
2 (HEM) חביבי חפצי הוא כי ייטב לך בכל דבר ותחזק כאשר טוב לך בנפשך׃
2 (KAT) Milovaný, prajem ti, aby sa ti vo všetkom darilo a aby si bol zdravý - tak ako sa darí tvojej duši.

3 (CPDV) I was very glad when the brothers arrived, and when they offered testimony to the truth in you, that you are walking in the truth.
3 (HEM) כי שמחתי למאד כאשר באו אחים ויעידו על אמתך אשר מתהלך באמת אתה׃
3 (KAT) Lebo veľmi som sa zaradoval, keď prišli bratia a vydávali svedectvo o tvojej pravde, ako ty žiješ v pravde.

4 (CPDV) I have no greater grace than this, when I hear that my sons are walking in the truth.
4 (HEM) אין לי שמחה גדולה מלשמע את אשר בני יתהלכו באמת׃
4 (KAT) Nemám väčšej radosti, ako keď počujem, že moje deti žijú v pravde.

5 (CPDV) Most beloved, you should act faithfully in whatever you do for the brothers, and those who are sojourners;
5 (HEM) חביבי באמונה כל מעשיך עם האחים ועם הארחים׃
5 (KAT) Milovaný, verne konáš všetko, čo robíš pre bratov, a to pre cudzích.

6 (CPDV) they have given testimony to your charity in the sight of the Church. You would to well to lead these ones worthily to God.
6 (HEM) אשר העידו על אהבתך בפני הקהל ואף תיטיב לעשות בלותך אתם כאשר יאתה לפני אלהים׃
6 (KAT) Oni vydali pred cirkvou svedectvo o tvojej láske. A dobre urobíš, keď ich vystrojíš na cestu, ako sa patrí vzhľadom na Boha.

7 (CPDV) For they set out, on behalf of his name, accepting nothing from the unbelievers.
7 (HEM) כי בעבור שמו יצאו ולא לקחו מאומה מן הגוים׃
7 (KAT) Veď oni sa pre jeho meno vydali na cestu a od pohanov nič neprijímajú.

8 (CPDV) Therefore, we must accept such as these, in order that we may cooperate with the truth.
8 (HEM) על כן חיבים אנחנו לקבל אתם למען נהיה עזרים לאמת׃
8 (KAT) Preto sme my povinní podporovať takýchto, aby sme boli spolupracovníkmi pravdy.

9 (CPDV) As it happens, I had written to the church. But Diotrephes, who loves to bear the highest rank among them, would not accept us.
9 (HEM) אני כתבתי אל הקהלה אך דיוטריפס המתאוה להיות עליהם לראש איננו מקבל אתנו׃
9 (KAT) Niečo som už cirkvi písal; ale Diotrefes, ktorý si rád ako prvý medzi nimi počína, nás neprijíma.

10 (CPDV) Because of this, when I come, I will admonish his works which he does, babbling against us with malicious words. And as if this were not sufficient for him, he himself does not receive the brothers. And those who do receive them, he hinders, and he ejects them from the church.
10 (HEM) על כן בבאי אזכיר את מעשיו אשר הוא עשה בספרו עלינו דברים רעים ולא דיו שלא יקבל את האחים כי גם ימנע את החפצים לקבל ויגרשם מתוך הקהלה׃
10 (KAT) Preto až prídem, upozorním na jeho skutky, ktoré robí, keď o nás tára zlomyseľné reči; a akoby mu to nestačilo, ani sám neprijíma bratov a tým, ktorí by ich chceli prijať, bráni a vylučuje ich z cirkvi.

11 (CPDV) Most beloved, do not be willing to imitate what is evil; instead imitate what is good. Whoever does good is of God. Whoever does evil has not seen God.
11 (HEM) חביבי אל תרדף הרעה כי אם הטוב העשה טוב הוא מאלהים והעשה רע לא ראה את האלהים׃
11 (KAT) Milovaný, nenasleduj zlé, ale dobré. Kto robí dobre, je z Boha; kto robí zle, Boha nevidel.

12 (CPDV) Testimony is being given for Demetrius by everyone, 698 and by the truth itself. And we also offer testimony. And you know that our testimony is true.
12 (HEM) על דימטריוס העידו הכל וגם האמת עצמה וגם אנחנו מעידים עליו וידעתם כי עדותנו היא נאמנה׃
12 (KAT) O Demetriovi vydávajú všetci dobré svedectvo, aj sama pravda. Aj my o ňom vydávame svedectvo a ty vieš, že naše svedectvo je pravdivé.

13 (CPDV) I had many things to write to you, but I am not willing, through ink and pen, to write to you.
13 (HEM) הרבה לי לכתב ולא חפצתי לכתב אליך בדיו ובקנה׃
13 (KAT) Mnoho by som ti mal písať, no nechcem ti písať atramentom a perom.

14 (CPDV) Yet I hope to see you soon, and then we will speak face to face. Peace to you. The friends greet you. Greet the friends by name.
14 (HEM) אבל אקוה לראותך במהרה ופה אל פה נדבר׃ [ (III John 1:15) שלום לך הרעים שאלים לשלומך שאל לשלום הרעים לאיש איש בשמו׃ ]
14 (KAT) Dúfam totiž, že ťa čoskoro uvidím a povieme si to ústne.
