1 (CPDV) The Elder to the Elect Lady, and those born of her, whom I love in the truth: and not I alone, but also all those who have known the truth,
1 (HEM) הזקן אל הגבירה הבחירה ואל בניה אשר אני אהב אתם באמת ולא אני לבדי כי אם גם כל ידעי האמת׃
1 (KAT) Ja, starší, vyvolenej panej a jej deťom, ktoré v pravde milujem, - a nielen ja sám, ale aj všetci, čo poznali pravdu -,
2 (CPDV) because the truth which dwells in us shall be with us for eternity.
2 (HEM) למען האמת העמדת בקרבנו וגם תהיה עמנו לעולם׃
2 (KAT) kvôli pravde, ktorá v nás zostáva a bude s nami naveky.
3 (CPDV) May grace, mercy, and peace be with you from God the Father, and from Christ Jesus, the Son of the Father, in truth and in love.
3 (HEM) יהי עמכם חסד ורחמים ושלום מאת האלהים אבינו ומאת אדנינו ישוע המשיח בן האב באמת ובאהבה׃
3 (KAT) Bude s nami milosť, milosrdenstvo a pokoj od Boha Otca i od Ježiša Krista, Otcovho Syna, v pravde a láske.
4 (CPDV) I was very glad because I discovered some of your sons walking in the truth, just as we received the commandment from the Father.
4 (HEM) שמחתי למאד כי מצאתי מבניך מתהלכים באמת כמצוה אשר קבלנו מאת האב׃
4 (KAT) Veľmi som sa zaradoval, keď som našiel medzi tvojimi deťmi také, čo žijú v pravde, ako sme dostali prikázanie od Otca.
5 (CPDV) And now I petition you, Lady, not as if writing a new commandment to you, but instead that commandment which we have had from the beginning: that we love one another.
5 (HEM) ועתה מבקש אני ממך הגבירה ולא ככתב אליך מצוה חדשה כי אם את אשר היתה לנו מראש לאהבה איש את רעהו׃
5 (KAT) A teraz ťa, pani, prosím - ale nie akoby som ti písal nové prikázanie, len to, ktoré sme mali od začiatku -, aby sme jeden druhého milovali.
6 (CPDV) And this is love: that we walk according to his commandments. For this is the commandment that you have heard in the same way from the beginning, and in which you should walk.
6 (HEM) וזאת היא האהבה אשר נתהלך במצותיו זאת היא המצוה אשר שמעתם מראש להתהלך בה׃
6 (KAT) A to je láska: žiť podľa jeho prikázaní. To je to prikázanie, ktoré ste počuli od začiatku, aby ste podľa neho žili.
7 (CPDV) For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess that Jesus Christ has arrived in the flesh. Such a one as this is a deceiver and an antichrist.
7 (HEM) כי מתעים רבים באו לעולם אשר אינם מודים בישוע המשיח כי בא בבשר זה הוא המתעה וצר המשיח׃
7 (KAT) Lebo vyšlo do sveta mnoho zvodcov, ktorí nevyznávajú, že Ježiš Kristus prišiel v tele. To je zvodca a antikrist.
8 (CPDV) Be cautious for yourselves, lest you lose what you have accomplished, and so that, instead, you may receive a full reward.
8 (HEM) השמרו לכם פן תאבד ממנו פעלתנו כי אם נקח משכרתנו שלמה׃
8 (KAT) Dávajte si pozor, aby ste neprišli o to, na čom ste pracovali, ale aby ste dostali plnú odmenu.
9 (CPDV) Everyone who withdraws and does not remain in the doctrine of Christ, does not have God. Whoever remains in the doctrine, such a one as this has both the Father and the Son.
9 (HEM) כל העבר על תורת המשיח ואיננו עמד בה אין לו אלהים והעמד בתורת המשיח יש לו גם האב גם הבן׃
9 (KAT) Ktokoľvek zachádza ďalej a neostáva v Kristovom učení, nemá Boha. Kto ostáva v jeho učení, ten má aj Otca, aj Syna.
10 (CPDV) If anyone comes to you, and does not bring this doctrine, do not be willing to receive him into the house, and do not speak a greeting to him.
10 (HEM) כל הבא אליכם ולא יביא את התורה הזאת לא תאספו אתו הביתה ולא תשאלו לו לשלום׃
10 (KAT) Ak niekto prichádza k vám a neprináša toto učenie, neprijímajte ho do domu, ani ho nepozdravujte.
11 (CPDV) For whoever speaks a greeting to him, is speaking with his evil works.
11 (HEM) כי השאל בשלומו הוא משתתף במעשיו הרעים׃
11 (KAT) Lebo kto ho pozdraví, má účasť na jeho zlých skutkoch.
12 (CPDV) I have much more to write to you, but I am not willing to do so through paper and ink. For I hope that I may be with you in the future, and that I may speak face to face, so that your joy may be full.
12 (HEM) הרבה לי לכתב אליכם ולא חפצתי בניר ובדיו כי אקוה לבוא אליכם ולדבר פה אל פה למען תהיה שמחתנו שלמה׃
12 (KAT) Mnoho by som vám mal písať; nechcel som to urobiť na papieri a atramentom, lebo dúfam, že sa dostanem k vám a povieme si to ústne, aby naša radosť bola úplná.
13 (CPDV) The sons of your Elect Sister greet you.
13 (HEM) בני אחותך הבחירה שאלים לשלומך אמן׃
13 (KAT) Pozdravujú ťa deti tvojej vyvolenej sestry.

Verš 10
If anyone comes to you, and does not bring this doctrine, do not be willing to receive him into the house, and do not speak a greeting to him.
Rim 16:17 - But I beg you, brothers, to take note of those who cause dissensions and offenses contrary to the doctrine that you have learned, and to turn away from them.
2Tim 3:5 - even having the appearance of piety while rejecting its virtue. And so, avoid them.
Tít 3:10 - Avoid a man who is a heretic, after the first and second correction,

And now I petition you, Lady, not as if writing a new commandment to you, but instead that commandment which we have had from the beginning: that we love one another.
1Jn 2:7 - Most beloved, I am not writing to you a new commandment, but the old commandment, which you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the Word, which you have heard.
Jn 13:34 - I give you a new commandment: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, so also must you love one another.
Jn 15:12 - This is my precept: that you love one another, just as I have loved you.
Ef 5:2 - And walk in love, just as Christ also loved us and delivered himself for us, as an oblation and a sacrifice to God, with a fragrance of sweetness.
1Sol 4:9 - But concerning the charity of brotherhood, we have no need to write to you. For you yourselves have learned from God that you should love one another.
1Pt 4:8 - But, before all things, have a constant mutual charity among yourselves. For love covers a multitude of sins.
1Jn 3:23 - And this is his commandment: that we should believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he has commanded us.
1Jn 4:21 - And this is the commandment that we have from God, that he who loves God must also love his brother.

And this is love: that we walk according to his commandments. For this is the commandment that you have heard in the same way from the beginning, and in which you should walk.
Jn 15:10 - If you keep my precepts, you shall abide in my love, just as I also have kept my Father’s precepts and I abide in his love.

For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess that Jesus Christ has arrived in the flesh. Such a one as this is a deceiver and an antichrist.
Mt 24:5 - For many will come in my name saying, ‘I am the Christ.’ And they will lead many astray.
Mt 24:24 - For there will arise false Christs and false prophets. And they will produce great signs and wonders, so much so as to lead into error even the elect (if this could be).
2Pt 2:1 - But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be among you lying teachers, who will introduce divisions of perdition, and they will deny him who bought them, the Lord, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.
1Jn 4:1 - Most beloved, do not be willing to believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see if they are of God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world.
2Jn 1,1 - "Pani a jej deti" je bližšie neoznačená miestna cirkev a jej veriaci. "V pravde", výraz označuje lásku pochádzajúcu z pravdy, ktorú hlásal Kristus a ktorá prebýva v srdciach kresťanov.
2Jn 1,4 - Žiť v pravde znamená žiť vo svetle príkazu o láske.
2Jn 1,5 - Porov. 1 Jn 2, 7-8; 3, 11.
2Jn 1,7 - O zvodcoch porov. 1 Jn 2, 18-27; 4, 1.
2Jn 1,13 - "Sestra" je cirkev, do ktorej patrí "starší", autor listu. Ako kresťania sú bratmi, tak miestne cirkvi sú sestrami.
