Kniha Jozue

1 (KJV) And it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor had heard those things, that he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph,
1 (B21) Když se to doslechl chacorský král Jabín, obeslal madonského krále Jobaba a krále šimronského, krále akšafského

2 (KJV) And to the kings that were on the north of the mountains, and of the plains south of Chinneroth, and in the valley, and in the borders of Dor on the west,
2 (B21) a další krále na severu v horách, v Aravě jižně od Galilejského jezera, v podhůří a v Náfot-doru na západě.

3 (KJV) And to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and to the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the mountains, and to the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpeh.
3 (B21) Na východě i na západě byli Kananejci, v pohořích Emorejci, Chetejci, Perizejci a Jebusejci a pod Hermonem v kraji Micpa byli Hivejci.

4 (KJV) And they went out, they and all their hosts with them, much people, even as the sand that is upon the sea shore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many.
4 (B21) Ti vytáhli se všemi svými vojsky - lidí jako písku na mořském břehu a nesmírné množství koní a vozů.

5 (KJV) And when all these kings were met together, they came and pitched together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.
5 (B21) Všichni ti králové se smluvili, přitáhli a utábořili se společně u meromských vod, aby vedli válku proti Izraeli.

6 (KJV) And the LORD said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.
6 (B21) Hospodin ale řekl Jozuovi: "Neboj se jich. Způsobím, že zítra touto dobou budou všichni ležet před Izraelem mrtví. Jejich koně ochromíš a jejich vozy spálíš."

7 (KJV) So Joshua came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly; and they fell upon them.
7 (B21) Jozue a všechen bojeschopný lid tedy proti nim ihned vytáhli k meromským vodám, kde na ně zaútočili.

8 (KJV) And the LORD delivered them into the hand of Israel, who smote them, and chased them unto great Zidon, and unto Misrephoth-maim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward; and they smote them, until they left them none remaining.
8 (B21) Hospodin je vydal Izraeli do rukou, takže je pobíjeli a pronásledovali až k Velkému Sidonu, k Misrefot-majim a směrem na východ až k údolí Micpe. Pobíjeli je, až nikdo nepřežil.

9 (KJV) And Joshua did unto them as the LORD bade him: he houghed their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire.
9 (B21) Jozue s nimi naložil, jak mu řekl Hospodin: ochromil jim koně a jejich vozy spálil.

10 (KJV) And Joshua at that time turned back, and took Hazor, and smote the king thereof with the sword: for Hazor beforetime was the head of all those kingdoms.
10 (B21) V tu dobu se Jozue vrátil, dobyl Chacor a jeho krále zabil mečem. (Chacor byl předtím hlavou všech těch království.)

11 (KJV) And they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them: there was not any left to breathe: and he burnt Hazor with fire.
11 (B21) Všechno živé v něm pobili ostřím meče; vyhladili je jako proklaté, takže nezůstala ani živá duše. Chacor potom vypálil.

12 (KJV) And all the cities of those kings, and all the kings of them, did Joshua take, and smote them with the edge of the sword, and he utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of the LORD commanded.
12 (B21) Jozue se zmocnil všech těchto královských měst i jejich králů a pobil je ostřím meče. Vyhladil je jako proklaté, jak přikázal Hospodinův služebník Mojžíš.

13 (KJV) But as for the cities that stood still in their strength, Israel burned none of them, save Hazor only; that did Joshua burn.
13 (B21) Z měst postavených na dřívějších sutinách ale Izrael nevypálil žádné kromě Chacoru - to město Jozue vypálil.

14 (KJV) And all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, the children of Israel took for a prey unto themselves; but every man they smote with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, neither left they any to breathe.
14 (B21) Synové Izraele si mezi sebou rozdělili všechnu kořist i dobytek z těch měst. Všechny lidi ale pobili ostřím meče, úplně je vyhubili. Neušetřili ani živou duši.

15 (KJV) As the LORD commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses.
15 (B21) Jak přikázal Hospodin svému služebníku Mojžíšovi, tak přikázal Mojžíš Jozuovi a Jozue tak učinil. Neopomněl jediné slovo ze všeho, co Hospodin přikázal Mojžíšovi.

16 (KJV) So Joshua took all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of Goshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the mountain of Israel, and the valley of the same;
16 (B21) Tak Jozue zabral celou tu zem - hory, celý Negev, celý kraj Gošen, podhůří i pláň Arava - izraelské hory i jejich podhůří,

17 (KJV) Even from the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir, even unto Baal-gad in the valley of Lebanon under mount Hermon: and all their kings he took, and smote them, and slew them.
17 (B21) vše od hory Chalak, jež se zvedá k Seíru, až po Baal-gád v Libanonském údolí pod horou Hermon. Zajal všechny jejich krále a nechal je pobít.

18 (KJV) Joshua made war a long time with all those kings.
18 (B21) Se všemi těmito králi vedl Jozue dlouhý boj.

19 (KJV) There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle.
19 (B21) Kromě Hivejců bydlících v Gibeonu nebylo města, které by se syny Izraele uzavřelo mír. Vše získali bojem.

20 (KJV) For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that he might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favour, but that he might destroy them, as the LORD commanded Moses.
20 (B21) Sám Hospodin totiž zatvrdil jejich srdce, aby válčili proti Izraeli, aby je vyhladil jako proklaté a bez milosti je vyhubil, jak Hospodin přikázal Mojžíšovi.

21 (KJV) And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities.
21 (B21) V té době Jozue na svém tažení vyhladil Anakovce z hor: z Hebronu, Debiru, Anabu i ze všech judských a izraelských hor. Jozue je vyhladil jako proklaté i s jejich městy.

22 (KJV) There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained.
22 (B21) V zemi synů Izraele nikdo z Anakovců nezůstal; přežili jen v Gaze, v Gatu a v Ašdodu.

23 (KJV) So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.
23 (B21) Tak Jozue zabral celou zem, přesně jak Hospodin řekl Mojžíšovi. Jozue ji potom dal Izraeli za dědictví podle jejich kmenových podílů. Země tehdy odpočinula od válek.
