Therefore, concerning other things, brothers, we ask and beg you, in the Lord Jesus, that, just as you have received from us the way in which you ought to walk and to please God, so also may you walk, in order that you may abound all the more.

But concerning the charity of brotherhood, we have no need to write to you. For you yourselves have learned from God that you should love one another.

For the Lord himself, with a command and with the voice of an Archangel and with a trumpet of God, shall descend from heaven. And the dead, who are in Christ, shall rise up first.
Mt 24:31 - And he shall send out his Angels with a trumpet and a great voice. And they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the heights of the heavens, even to their furthest limits.
1Kor 15:52 - in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will rise up, incorruptible. And we shall be transformed.

1Sol 4,4 - "Nádoba", (gr. skéuos), je obrazný výraz; tu môže znamenať buď telo (porov. 2 Kor 4, 7), a vtedy by šlo o dokonalé ovládanie svojho tela, alebo ženu ako v 1 Pt 3, 7 a v rabínskej terminológii, a potom by to znamenalo, že každý má zaobchádzať s telom svojej manželky s úctou.
1Sol 4,6 - Pavol tu pravdepodobne naráža na cudzoložstvo, ktoré je porušením práv blížneho.
1Sol 4,12 - Výraz "čo sú mimo" označuje nekresťanov.
1Sol 4,13-17 - Pavol odpovedá na problém Solúnčanov v súvise s druhým Kristovým príchodom. Okrem toho bola to aj téma apoštolských kázní. Mysleli si, že mŕtvi pri druhom slávnom Kristovom príchode budú o niečo ukrátení vzhľadom na tých, čo sa ho dočkajú ako živí. Apoštol tu hovorí v množnom čísle a seba zahrňuje medzi tých, čo sa ešte živí dočkajú slávneho Kristovho príchodu. Je to skôr vyjadrenie túžby po tomto príchode, ako to dokazujú aj jeho ostatné eschatologické výpovede (porov. Rim 13, 11 n.; 1 Kor 7, 29–32; 15, 51 n.; 16, 22; 2 Kor 5, 1–4; Flp 4, 5; 2 Tim 4, 6–8). Pavol teda nikdy neučil, že deň slávneho Pánovho príchodu nastane už počas jeho života.
1Sol 4,14 - Niektorí prekladajú: "zhromaždí s ním".
1Sol 4,15 - Pavol toto učí pravdepodobne na základe zvláštneho zjavenia (porov. 1 Kor 15, 51).
