1 (KAT) Rozhodol som sa, sám v sebe, že k vám nepôjdem, aby som vás zasa zarmútil.
1 (VUL) Statui autem hoc ipse apud me, ne iterum in tristitia venirem ad vos;
1 (UKJV) But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness.

2 (KAT) Lebo ak ja zarmútim vás, kto poteší mňa, ak nie ten, koho som ja zarmútil?
2 (VUL) si enim ego contristo vos, et quis est qui me laetificet, nisi qui contristatur ex me?
2 (UKJV) For if I make you sorry, who is he then that makes me glad, but the same which is made sorry by me?

3 (KAT) A toto som vám napísal, aby ma, až prídem, nezarmútili tí, z ktorých by som mal mať radosť; lebo vám všetkým verím, že moja radosť je radosťou vás všetkých.
3 (VUL) Et hoc ipsum scripsi, ut non, cum venero, tristitiam habeam de quibus oportebat me gaudere, confidens in omnibus vobis, quia meum gaudium omnium vestrum est.
3 (UKJV) "And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all. "

4 (KAT) Veď som vám písal vo veľkom súžení a úzkosti srdca, cez mnoho sĺz, nie aby ste sa zarmútili, ale aby ste vedeli, ako veľmi vás milujem.
4 (VUL) Nam ex multa tribulatione et angustia cordis scripsi vobis per multas lacrimas, non ut contristemini, sed ut sciatis quam carita tem habeo abundantius in vos.
4 (UKJV) "For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that all of you should be grieved, but that all of you might know the love (o. agape) which I have more abundantly unto you. "

5 (KAT) Ak teda niekto spôsobil zármutok, nie mňa zarmútil, ale do istej miery - nechcem zveličovať - zarmútil vás všetkých.
5 (VUL) Si quis autem contristavit, non me contristavit, sed ex parte, ut non onerem, omnes vos.
5 (UKJV) But if any have caused grief, he has not grieved me, but in part: that I may not burden you all.

6 (KAT) Takému stačí pokarhanie, ktorého sa mu dostalo od mnohých.
6 (VUL) Sufficit illi, qui eiusmodi est, obiurgatio haec, quae fit a pluribus,
6 (UKJV) Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many.

7 (KAT) Takže radšej odpusťte a potešte ho, aby azda takého človeka prílišný zármutok nepohltil.
7 (VUL) ita ut e contra magis donetis et consolemini, ne forte abundantiore tristitia absorbeatur, qui eiusmodi est.
7 (UKJV) So that contrariwise all of you ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.

8 (KAT) Preto vás prosím, zahrňte ho láskou.
8 (VUL) Propter quod obsecro vos, ut confirmetis in illum caritatem;
8 (UKJV) Wherefore I plead to you that all of you would confirm your love (o. agape) toward him.

9 (KAT) Veď preto som vám aj písal, aby som poznal, ako sa osvedčíte, či ste vo všetkom poslušní.
9 (VUL) ideo enim et scripsi, ut cognoscam probationem vestram, an in omnibus oboedientes sitis.
9 (UKJV) In order to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether all of you be obedient in all things.

10 (KAT) Komu vy niečo odpustíte, tomu odpustím aj ja. Lebo čo som aj ja odpustil, ak som niečo odpustil, potom kvôli vám v zastúpení Krista,
10 (VUL) Cui autem aliquid donatis, et ego; nam et ego, quod donavi, si quid donavi, propter vos in persona Christi,
10 (UKJV) "To whom all of you forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ; "

13 (KAT) môj duch nemal pokoja, lebo som nenašiel svojho brata Títa. Preto som sa s nimi rozlúčil a odišiel som do Macedónska.
13 (VUL) non habui requiem spiritui meo, eo quod non invenerim Titum fratrem meum, sed valefaciens eis profectus sum in Macedoniam.
13 (UKJV) I had no rest in my spirit, (o. pneuma) because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went from thence into Macedonia.

14 (KAT) Ale vďaka Bohu, ktorý nám vždy dáva víťazstvo v Kristovi a naším prostredníctvom zjavuje na každom mieste vôňu jeho poznania.
14 (VUL) Deo autem gratias, qui semper triumphat nos in Christo et odorem notitiae suae manifestat per nos in omni loco.
14 (UKJV) Now thanks be unto God, which always causes us to triumph in Christ, and makes manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

15 (KAT) Lebo sme Kristovou ľúbeznou vôňou pre Boha uprostred tých, čo sú na ceste spásy, i tých, čo idú do záhuby.
15 (VUL) Quia Christi bonus odor sumus Deo in his, qui salvi fiunt, et in his, qui pereunt:
15 (UKJV) For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:

16 (KAT) Jedným vôňou smrti na smrť, druhým vôňou života pre život. Ale kto je na to súci?
16 (VUL) aliis quidem odor ex morte in mortem, aliis autem odor ex vita in vitam. Et ad haec quis idoneus?
16 (UKJV) "To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things? "

17 (KAT) Nie sme ako mnohí, čo falšujú Božie slovo, ale hovoríme úprimne ako z Boha a pred Bohom v Kristovi.
17 (VUL) Non enim sumus sicut plurimi adulterantes verbum Dei, sed sicut ex sinceritate, sed sicut ex Deo coram Deo in Christo loquimur.
17 (UKJV) For we are not as many, which corrupt the word (o. logos) of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
