2Kor 11,1 - Pavol je prinútený okolnosťami brániť sa proti nespravodlivým obvineniam protivníkov. Robí to tým, že poukazuje na svoju veľkosť. A to nazýva "nerozumnosťou".
2Kor 11,2 - Vzťah korintskej cirkvi ku Kristovi predstavuje Pavol ako vzťah ženícha a nevesty. Tento obraz je v Starom zákone dosť častý (porov. napr. Iz 62, 4–5).
2Kor 11,2 - Mimoriadny zážitok, o ktorom hovorí Pavol v tretej osobe, odohral sa 14 rokov pred napísaním listu, teda asi roku 43, a je iný ako videnie, ktoré mal niekoľko rokov predtým na ceste do Damasku. Podľa vtedajšej predstavy tretie nebo bolo sídlom Boha, kým prvým nebom bola zemská atmosféra, druhým nebo hviezd.
2Kor 11,5 - "Veľkými apoštolmi" tu nazýva Pavol ironicky pravdepodobne svojich židovčiacich protivníkov. Sú to "falošní apoštoli" (v. 13).
2Kor 11,7 - "Osteň" je bližšie neurčené utrpenie. Mohla to byť dajaká chronická choroba (porov. Gal 4, 14–15), alebo prenasledovanie zo strany Židov (porov. Rim 9, 3).
2Kor 11,8 - Olupovaním nazýva Pavol to, čo prijímal od iných cirkví, len aby mohol slúžiť Korinťanom a nebol im na ťarchu.
2Kor 11,9 - Pavol sa živil prácou svojich rúk (porov. Sk 18, 3) a podporu prijal jedine z Macedónska (porov. Flp 4, 15).
2Kor 11,11 - Azda námietka Pavlových protivníkov.
2Kor 11,16 - Ide o námietky jeho protivníkov.
2Kor 11,20 - Pavol im pripomína zneužívania, ktorých sa dopúšťali tzv. apoštoli.
2Kor 11,23 - Pavol sa chváli utrpeniami, ktoré znášal pre evanjelium. Jeho protivníci sa tiež vychvaľovali, hoci na to nemali dôvod.
2Kor 11,24 - Podľa Dt 25, 3 sa počet úderov pri bičovaní nesmel prekročiť, a preto z opatrnosti dávali o jeden úder menej.
2Kor 11,32 - Aretas IV. (9 pred Kr. – 40 po Kr.) bol nabatejským kráľom; tesť Herodesa Antipasa.
