Verš 2

1Kor 7:39 - "The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord. "
1Kor 7:2 - Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
1Kor 7:10 - And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:
Verš 3

Mt 5:32 - But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause (o. logos) of fornication, causes her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced commits adultery.

Verš 7
What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, You shall not covet.
Rim 3:20 - Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
Heb 7:18 - For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.
Ex 20:17 - You shall not covet your neighbour's house, you shall not covet your neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is your neighbour's.
Dt 5:21 - Neither shall you desire your neighbour's wife, neither shall you covet your neighbour's house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is your neighbour's.
Verš 8
But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
Jn 15:22 - If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin.
Rim 4:15 - Because the law works wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.
Rim 5:20 - Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
Gal 3:19 - "Wherefore then serves the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. "
Verš 12
Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
1Tim 1:8 - "But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; "
Verš 14
For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

Gal 5:17 - For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, (o. pneuma) and the Spirit (o. pneuma) against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that all of you cannot do the things that all of you would.
Verš 18
"For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwells no good thing: in order to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. "
Gn 6:5 - And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Gn 8:21 - "And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again strike any more every thing living, as I have done. "
Verš 22
For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
Ef 3:16 - "That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit (o. pneuma) in the inner man; "
Verš 23
But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
Gal 5:17 - For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, (o. pneuma) and the Spirit (o. pneuma) against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that all of you cannot do the things that all of you would.
Rim 7,6 - "Po novom, v Duchu", t. j. v stave milosti Ducha Svätého.
Rim 7,7 - Porov. Ex 20, 17. Mojžišov zákon sám osebe je dobrý, ale vlastne on priniesol presné poznanie toho, čo je zlé, zakázané, a pritom neposkytoval človeku potrebné milosti. Kde ho nebolo, svedomie človeka bolo slobodnejšie. Napríklad vnútorné hriechy žiadostivosti by sa nebrali tak vážne, keby Božie prikázanie výslovne nehovorilo: "Nepožiadaš!"
Rim 7,8 - Pavol opisuje dramatický vnútorný rozpor, ktorý človek skusuje sám v sebe.
Rim 7,9 - "Ja" je podľa všetkého štylistickou figúrou a znamená: my, ľudia.
