Rim 7, 1-25

1 (KJV) Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?
1 (KAT) Vari neviete, bratia - veď hovorím takým, čo poznajú zákon -, že zákon panuje nad človekom, dokiaľ žije?

2 (KJV) For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.

3 (KJV) So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.

4 (KJV) Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
4 (KAT) Tak ste aj vy, bratia moji, zomreli zákonu skrze Kristovo telo, aby ste patrili inému, tomu, ktorý bol vzkriesený z mŕtvych, aby sme prinášali ovocie Bohu.

5 (KJV) For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
5 (KAT) Lebo kým sme boli v tele, pôsobili v našich údoch hriešne vášne, podnecované zákonom, a prinášali ovocie smrti.

6 (KJV) But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

7 (KJV) What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
7 (KAT) Čo teda povieme? Je zákon hriechom? Vonkoncom nie! Ale hriech som poznal iba skrze zákon; veď by som nevedel o žiadostivosti, keby zákon nehovoril: „Nepožiadaš!“

8 (KJV) But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
8 (KAT) Ale hriech, keď sa mu naskytla príležitosť, skrze prikázanie vzbudil vo mne všetku žiadostivosť; lebo bez zákona bol hriech mŕtvy.

9 (KJV) For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
9 (KAT) Ja som kedysi žil bez zákona, ale keď prišlo prikázanie, hriech ožil

10 (KJV) And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.

11 (KJV) For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.
11 (KAT) Lebo hriech, keď sa mu naskytla príležitosť, skrze prikázanie ma zviedol, a tým zabil.

12 (KJV) Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

13 (KJV) Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.

14 (KJV) For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

15 (KJV) For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
15 (KAT) Ani nechápem, čo robím, lebo nerobím to, čo chcem, ale robím to, čo nenávidím.

16 (KJV) If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.
16 (KAT) No ak robím to, čo nechcem, priznávam zákonu, že je dobrý.

17 (KJV) Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

18 (KJV) For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

19 (KJV) For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

20 (KJV) Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
20 (KAT) No ak robím to, čo nechcem, už to nerobím ja, ale hriech, ktorý vo mne sídli.

21 (KJV) I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
21 (KAT) Badám teda taký zákon, že keď chcem robiť dobro, je mi blízko zlo.

22 (KJV) For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
22 (KAT) Podľa vnútorného človeka s radosťou súhlasím s Božím zákonom;

23 (KJV) But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

24 (KJV) O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
24 (KAT) Ja nešťastný človek! Kto ma vyslobodí z tohto tela smrti?

25 (KJV) I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
25 (KAT) Ale nech je Bohu vďaka skrze Ježiša Krista, nášho Pána! Ja sám teda mysľou slúžim Božiemu zákonu a telom zákonu hriechu.

For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
Ef 3:16 - That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

Verš 23
But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
Gal 5:17 - For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Rim 7,6 - "Po novom, v Duchu", t. j. v stave milosti Ducha Svätého.

Rim 7,7 - Porov. Ex 20, 17. Mojžišov zákon sám osebe je dobrý, ale vlastne on priniesol presné poznanie toho, čo je zlé, zakázané, a pritom neposkytoval človeku potrebné milosti. Kde ho nebolo, svedomie človeka bolo slobodnejšie. Napríklad vnútorné hriechy žiadostivosti by sa nebrali tak vážne, keby Božie prikázanie výslovne nehovorilo: "Nepožiadaš!"

Rim 7,8 - Pavol opisuje dramatický vnútorný rozpor, ktorý človek skusuje sám v sebe.

Rim 7,9 - "Ja" je podľa všetkého štylistickou figúrou a znamená: my, ľudia.
