1 (HEM) אנשים אחים ואבות שמעו נא את דברי התנצלותי אליכם׃
1 (KAT) „Bratia a otcovia, počúvajte, čo vám teraz poviem na svoju obranu!“
1 (UKJV) Men, brethren, and fathers, hear all of you my defence which I make now unto you.

2 (HEM) ויהי כשמעם כי הוא מדבר אליהם בלשון עברית ויחשו עוד יותר׃
2 (KAT) Keď počuli, že im hovorí hebrejsky, ešte väčšmi zatíchli. A povedal:
2 (UKJV) (And when they heard that he spoke in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence: and he says,)

3 (HEM) ויאמר איש יהודי אנכי נולד בטרסוס אשר בקיליקיא ומגדל בעיר הזאת לרגלי גמליאל ומלמד לפי דקדוקי תורת אבותינו ואהי מקנא לאלהים כמוכם כלכם היום׃
3 (KAT) „Ja som Žid. Narodil som sa v cilícijskom Tarze, ale vychovaný som bol v tomto meste. Pri Gamalielových nohách som sa naučil prísne žiť podľa zákona otcov a horlil som za Boha, ako aj vy všetci dnes.
3 (UKJV) I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as all of you all are this day.

4 (HEM) וארדף את הדרך הזאת עד מות ואהי אסר ומסגיר לכלא אנשים ונשים׃
4 (KAT) Túto Cestu som prenasledoval až na smrť: spútaval som mužov i ženy a dával som ich do väzenia,
4 (UKJV) And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women.

5 (HEM) כאשר גם יעיד עלי הכהן הגדול וכל בית הזקנים אשר מהם לקחתי מכתבים ואלך אל האחים לדמשק לאסר אף את הנמצאים שמה להביאם ירושלים למען יוסרו׃
5 (KAT) ako mi dosvedčí aj veľkňaz a celá veľrada. Od nich som dostal aj listy pre bratov a šiel som do Damasku, aby som aj tých, čo tam boli, v putách priviedol do Jeruzalema na potrestanie.
5 (UKJV) As also the high priest does bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, in order to be punished.

6 (HEM) ויהי אנכי הלך וקרב לדמשק כעת צהרים ופתאם נגה עלי מסביב אור גדול מן השמים׃
6 (KAT) Ale ako som šiel a blížil sa k Damasku, zrazu ma okolo poludnia zalialo jasné svetlo z neba.
6 (UKJV) And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me.

7 (HEM) ואפל ארצה ואשמע קול מדבר אלי שאול שאול למה תרדפני׃
7 (KAT) Padol som na zem a počul som hlas, ktorý mi hovoril: »Šavol, Šavol, prečo ma prenasleduješ?«
7 (UKJV) And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecute you me?

8 (HEM) ואען ואמר מי אתה אדני ויאמר אלי אני ישוע הנצרי אשר אתה רדפו׃
8 (KAT) Ja som odpovedal: »Kto si, Pane?« A on mi povedal: »Ja som Ježiš Nazaretský, ktorého ty prenasleduješ.«
8 (UKJV) And I answered, Who are you, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you persecute.

9 (HEM) והאנשים אשר אתי ראו את האור וייראו ואת קול המדבר אלי לא שמעו׃
9 (KAT) Tí, čo boli so mnou, svetlo videli, ale hlas toho, čo so mnou hovoril, nepočuli.
9 (UKJV) "And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spoke to me. "

10 (HEM) ואמר מה אעשה אדני ויאמר אלי האדון קום לך אל דמשק ושם יאמר לך את כל אשר צוית לעשות׃
10 (KAT) I povedal som: »Čo mám robiť, Pane?« A Pán mi povedal: »Vstaň a choď do Damasku; tam ti povedia všetko, čo ti je určené urobiť.«
10 (UKJV) "And I said, What shall I do, LORD? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told you of all things which are appointed for you to do. "

11 (HEM) ואני לא יכלתי לראות מפני זהר האור ההוא והאנשים אשר אתי הוליכוני ביד ואבא לדמשק׃
11 (KAT) Keďže som pre jas toho svetla nevidel, viedli ma moji sprievodcovia za ruku, a tak som prišiel do Damasku.
11 (UKJV) And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus.

12 (HEM) ואיש חסיד כפי התורה ושמו חנניה אשר קנה לו שם טוב בקרב כל היהודים הישבים שם׃
12 (KAT) Istý Ananiáš, nábožný muž podľa zákona, ktorému všetci tamojší Židia vydávajú svedectvo,
12 (UKJV) And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there,

13 (HEM) ויבא אלי ויעמד ויאמר אלי שאול אחי שוב ראה ובשעה ההיא נפקחו עיני וראיתיהו׃
13 (KAT) prišiel za mnou, pristúpil a povedal mi: »Brat Šavol, pozeraj!« A ja som ho v tú hodinu videl.
13 (UKJV) Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive your sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him.

14 (HEM) ויאמר אלהי אבותינו בחר בך לדעת את רצונו ולראות את הצדיק ולשמע קול מפיהו׃
14 (KAT) Tu on povedal: »Boh našich otcov ťa predurčil, aby si poznal jeho vôľu, videl Spravodlivého a počul hlas z jeho úst.
14 (UKJV) And he said, The God of our fathers has chosen you, that you should know his will, and see that Just One, and should hear the voice of his mouth.

15 (HEM) כי היו תהיה לו לעד אל כל בני האדם על כל אשר ראית ושמעת׃
15 (KAT) Lebo mu budeš pred všetkými ľuďmi svedkom toho, čo si videl a počul.
15 (UKJV) For you shall be his witness unto all men of what you have seen and heard.

16 (HEM) ועתה למה תתמהמה קום והטבל והתרחץ מחטאתיך בקראך בשמו׃
16 (KAT) A teraz - čo čakáš?! Vstaň, daj sa pokrstiť, zmy svoje hriechy a vzývaj jeho meno!«
16 (UKJV) And now why tarry you? arise, and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

17 (HEM) ויהי בשובי אל ירושלים ואתפלל במקדש ותהי עלי יד יהוה׃
17 (KAT) Keď som sa potom vrátil do Jeruzalema a modlil som sa v chráme, padol som do vytrženia
17 (UKJV) "And it came to pass, that, when I was come again to Jerusalem, even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance; "

18 (HEM) וארא אותו מדבר אלי חושה צא במהרה מירושלים כי לא יקבלו את עדותך עלי׃
18 (KAT) a videl som ho, ako mi hovorí: »Ponáhľaj sa a rýchlo odíď z Jeruzalema, lebo neprijmú tvoje svedectvo o mne.«
18 (UKJV) And saw him saying unto me, Make haste, and get you quickly out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive your testimony concerning me.

19 (HEM) ואמר הלא הם יודעים את אשר השלכתי אל הכלא והלקיתי בבתי הכנסיות את המאמינים בך׃
19 (KAT) Ja som povedal: »Pane, oni vedia, že ja som zatváral do väzenia a bil po synagógach tých, čo verili v teba.
19 (UKJV) And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue them that believed on you:

20 (HEM) ובהשפך דם אסטפנוס עדך אף אני עמדתי שם חפץ בהרגתו ושומר את בגדי הרגיו׃
20 (KAT) A keď vylievali krv tvojho svedka Štefana, aj ja som bol pri tom, schvaľoval som to a strážil som šaty tým, čo ho zabíjali.«
20 (UKJV) And when the blood of your martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him.

21 (HEM) ויאמר אלי לך כי אני אל הגיום עד למרחוק אשלחך׃
21 (KAT) Ale on mi povedal: »Choď, lebo ťa pošlem ďaleko medzi pohanov.«“
21 (UKJV) And he said unto me, Depart: for I will send you far behind unto the Gentiles.

22 (HEM) וישמעו אליו עד הדבר הזה וישאו את קולם ויאמרו הסירו איש כזה מעל האדמה כי איננו ראוי כי יחיה׃
22 (KAT) Až po toto slovo ho počúvali, ale potom začali kričať: „Preč s takýmto zo sveta, lebo nie je hoden žiť!“
22 (UKJV) And they gave him audience unto this word, (o. logos) and then lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.

23 (HEM) ויהי בהיותם צעקים ומשליכים את בגדיהם מעליהם וזרקים עפר השמימה׃
23 (KAT) Pretože kričali, odhadzovali šaty a vyhadzovali prach do vzduchu,
23 (UKJV) And as they cried out, and cast off their clothes, and threw dust into the air,

24 (HEM) ויצו שר האלף להוליכו אל המצד ויאמר לבדקו במלקות למען ידע מדוע המה ככה צעקים עליו׃
24 (KAT) veliteľ rozkázal odviesť ho do pevnosti a nariadil bičovať ho a vypočúvať, aby sa dozvedel, prečo naň tak kričia.
24 (UKJV) "The chief captain commanded him to be brought into the castle, and bade that he should be examined by scourging; that he might know wherefore they cried so against him. "

25 (HEM) ויהי כאשר אסר להכותו ברצועות ויאמר אל שר המאה העמד עליו האף רשיון לכם להכות איש רומי בלא דין ומשפט׃
25 (KAT) Ale keď mu uťahovali remene, Pavol povedal stotníkovi, čo tam stál: „A smiete bičovať rímskeho občana, a ešte bez súdu?“
25 (UKJV) And as they bound him with thongs, Paul said unto the centurion that stood by, Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman, and uncondemned?

26 (HEM) וילך שר המאה כשמעו את הדבר הזה ויגד לשר האלף לאמר ראה מה תעשה כי האיש הזה רומי הוא׃
26 (KAT) Keď to stotník počul, išiel za veliteľom a hlásil mu: „Čo to chceš robiť? Veď je to rímsky občan.“
26 (UKJV) When the centurion heard that, he went and told the chief captain, saying, Take heed what you do: for this man is a Roman.

27 (HEM) ויבא שר האלף ויאמר אמר לי הרומי אתה ויאמר הן׃
27 (KAT) Veliteľ prišiel za ním a pýtal sa ho: „Povedz mi, ty si Riman?“ On odpovedal: „Áno.“
27 (UKJV) Then the chief captain came, and said unto him, Tell me, are you a Roman? He said, Yea.

28 (HEM) ויען שר האלף אני בכסף רב קניתי לי משפט האזרחות הזאת ויאמר פולוס ואני אף נולדתי בה׃
28 (KAT) Veliteľ vravel: „Ja som toto občianstvo získal za veľkú sumu.“ A Pavol povedal: „A ja som sa v ňom narodil.“
28 (UKJV) And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I this freedom. And Paul said, But I was free born.

29 (HEM) אז הרפו ממנו האנשים אשר באו לבדקו וגם שר האלף ירא בדעתו כי רומי הוא והוא אסר אותו׃
29 (KAT) Tí, čo ho mali vypočúvať, hneď od neho odstúpili a aj veliteľ sa zľakol, keď sa dozvedel, že je Riman a že ho sputnal.
29 (UKJV) Then immediately they departed from him which should have examined him: and the chief captain also was afraid, after he knew that he was a Roman, and because he had bound him.

30 (HEM) וממחרת בקש לדעת אל נכון על מה שטנים אותו היהודים ויתר מוסרותיו ויצו להביא את ראשי הכהנים ואת כל הסנהדרין ויורד את פולוס ויעמידהו בתוכם׃
30 (KAT) Keďže chcel presne vedieť, z čoho ho Židia obviňujú, na druhý deň mu sňal putá, rozkázal, aby sa zišli veľkňazi a celá veľrada, priviedol Pavla a postavil ho pred nich.
30 (UKJV) On the next day, because he would have known the certainty wherefore he was accused of the Jews, he loosed him from his bands, and commanded the chief priests and all their council to appear, and brought Paul down, and set him before them.
