Lk 23, 1-56

1 (CPDV) And the entire multitude of them, rising up, led him to Pilate.
1 (ROH) A vstalo všetko to množstvo, koľko ich bolo, a odviedli ho k Pilátovi.

2 (CPDV) Then they began to accuse him, saying, “We found this one subverting our nation, and prohibiting giving tribute to Caesar, and saying that he is Christ the king.”

3 (CPDV) And Pilate questioned him, saying: “You are the king of the Jews?” But in response, he said: “You are saying it.”
3 (ROH) A Pilát sa ho opýtal a riekol: Či si ty ten kráľ Židov? A on mu odpovedal a riekol: Ty dobre hovoríš.

4 (CPDV) Then Pilate said to the leaders of the priests and to the crowds, “I find no case against this man.”
4 (ROH) A Pilát povedal najvyšším kňazom a zástupom: Nenachádzam nijakej viny na tomto človekovi.

5 (CPDV) But they continued more intensely, saying: “He has stirred up the people, teaching throughout all of Judea, beginning from Galilee, even to this place.”
5 (ROH) Ale oni nástojili a hovorili: Búri ľud svojím učením učiac po celom Judsku; započal od Galilee a prišiel až sem.

6 (CPDV) But Pilate, upon hearing Galilee, asked if the man were of Galilee.

7 (CPDV) And when he realized that he was under Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him away to Herod, who was himself also at Jerusalem in those days.

8 (CPDV) Then Herod, upon seeing Jesus, was very glad. For he had been wanting to see him for a long time, because he had heard so many things about him, and he was hoping to see some kind of sign wrought by him.

9 (CPDV) Then he questioned him with many words. But he gave him no response at all.
9 (ROH) A pýtal sa ho mnohými rečami, ale on mu ničoho neodpovedal.

10 (CPDV) And the leaders of the priests, and the scribes, stood firm in persistently accusing him.
10 (ROH) A stáli tam najvyšší kňazi a zákonníci prudko na neho žalujúc.

11 (CPDV) Then Herod, with his soldiers, scorned him. And he ridiculed him, clothing him in a white garment. And he sent him back to Pilate.
11 (ROH) A potom, keď ním pohŕdnul Heródes so svojím vojskom a naposmieval sa mu, obliekol ho do skvelého rúcha a poslal ho zpät Pilátovi.

12 (CPDV) And Herod and Pilate became friends on that day. For previously they were enemies to one another.
12 (ROH) A Pilát a Heródes sa stali priateľmi jeden s druhým toho dňa, lebo predtým si boli nepriateľmi.

13 (CPDV) And Pilate, calling together the leaders of the priests, and the magistrates, and the people,
13 (ROH) A Pilát si svolal najvyšších kňazov i kniežatá i ľud

14 (CPDV) said to them: “You have brought before me this man, as one who disturbs the people. And behold, having questioned him before you, I find no case against this man, in those things about which you accuse him.
14 (ROH) a povedal im: Doviedli ste mi tohoto človeka, že vraj odvracia ľud, a hľa, ja som sa ho povypytoval pred vami a nenašiel som na tomto človekovi nijakej takej viny, jako na neho žalujete.

15 (CPDV) And neither did Herod. For I sent you all to him, and behold, nothing deserving of death was recorded about him.
15 (ROH) Ale ani Heródes, lebo som vás poslal hore k nemu, a vidíte, neurobil ničoho takého, čo by bolo hodno smrti.

16 (CPDV) Therefore, I will chastise him and release him.”
16 (ROH) Potrescem ho tedy a prepustím.

17 (CPDV) Now he was required to release one person for them on the feast day.
17 (ROH) Lebo na ten sviatok im musel vždy prepustiť jedného väzňa.

18 (CPDV) But the entire crowd exclaimed together, saying: “Take this one, and release to us Barabbas!”
18 (ROH) Ale skríkli, všetko to množstvo, a hovorili: Zahlaď tohoto a prepusti nám Barabáša!

19 (CPDV) Now he had been cast into prison because of a certain sedition that occurred in the city and for murder.

20 (CPDV) Then Pilate spoke to them again, wanting to release Jesus.
20 (ROH) Vtedy zase prehovoril k nim Pilát chcúc prepustiť Ježiša.

21 (CPDV) But they shouted in response, saying: “Crucify him! Crucify him!”
21 (ROH) Ale oni mu nato volali zpät a hovorili: Ukrižuj, ukrižuj ho!

22 (CPDV) Then he said to them a third time: “Why? What evil has he done? I find no case against him for death. Therefore, I will chastise him and release him.”
22 (ROH) A on im povedal po tretie: Ale čože zlého urobil tento? Nijakej príčiny smrti som nenašiel na ňom. Potrescem ho tedy a prepustím.

23 (CPDV) But they persisted, with loud voices, in demanding that he be crucified. And their voices increased in intensity.
23 (ROH) Ale oni len naliehali velikým hlasom a požadovali, aby bol ukrižovaný, a ich hlasy prevládaly i hlasy najvyšších kňazov.

24 (CPDV) And so Pilate issued a judgment granting their petition.

25 (CPDV) Then he released for them the one who had been cast into prison for murder and sedition, whom they were requesting. Yet truly, Jesus he handed over to their will.
25 (ROH) a prepustil im toho pre vzburu a pre vraždu hodeného do väzenia, ktorého si pýtali, a Ježiša vydal ich ľubovôli.

26 (CPDV) And as they were leading him away, they apprehended a certain one, Simon of Cyrene, as he was returning from the countryside. And they imposed the cross on him to carry after Jesus.

27 (CPDV) Then a great crowd of people followed him, with women who were mourning and lamenting him.
27 (ROH) A išlo za ním veliké množstvo ľudu i žien, ktoré nariekaly a kvílily nad ním.

28 (CPDV) But Jesus, turning to them, said: “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep over me. Instead, weep over yourselves and over your children.
28 (ROH) A Ježiš sa obrátil k nim a povedal: Dcéry Jeruzalema, neplačte nado mnou, ale plačte samy nad sebou a nad svojimi deťmi:

29 (CPDV) For behold, the days will arrive in which they will say, ‘Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that have not borne, and the breasts that have not nursed.’
29 (ROH) Lebo hľa, idú dni, v ktorých povedia: Blahoslavené neplodné, a životy, ktoré nerodily, prsia, ktoré nekojily.

30 (CPDV) Then they will begin to say to the mountains, ‘Fall over us,’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us.’
30 (ROH) Vtedy začnú hovoriť vrchom: Padnite na nás! a brehom: Prikryte nás:

31 (CPDV) For if they do these things 613 with green wood, what will be done with the dry?”

32 (CPDV) Now they also led out two other criminals with him, in order to execute them.
32 (ROH) A videl s ním aj iných dvoch, zločincov, aby ich zabili.

33 (CPDV) And when they arrived at the place that is called Calvary, they crucified him there, with the robbers, one to the right and the other to the left.

34 (CPDV) Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them. For they know not what they do.” And truly, dividing his garments, they cast lots.
34 (ROH) A Ježiš hovoril: Otče, odpusť im, lebo nevedia, čo robia! A deliac si jeho rúcho hodili oň los.

35 (CPDV) And people were standing near, watching. And the leaders among them derided him, saying: “He saved others. Let him save himself, if this one is the Christ, the elect of God.”

36 (CPDV) And the soldiers also ridiculed him, approaching him and offering him vinegar,
36 (ROH) Aj vojaci sa mu posmievali prichádzajúc a ocot mu podávajúc

37 (CPDV) and saying, “If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself.”
37 (ROH) a hovorili: Ak si ty ten kráľ Židov, spomôžže si!

38 (CPDV) Now there was also an inscription written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

39 (CPDV) And one of those robbers who were hanging blasphemed him, saying, “If you are the Christ, save yourself and us.”
39 (ROH) A jeden z tých povesených zločincov sa mu rúhal a hovoril: Či nie si ty Kristus? Spomôž sám sebe i nám!

40 (CPDV) But the other responded by rebuking him, saying: “Do you have no fear of God, since you are under the same condemnation?
40 (ROH) A ten druhý odpovedal, karhal ho a riekol: Či sa ani ty nebojíš Boha, pretože si v tom istom odsudku?

41 (CPDV) And indeed, it is just for us. For we are receiving what our deeds deserve. But truly, this one has done nothing wrong.”

42 (CPDV) And he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
42 (ROH) A povedal Ježišovi: Rozpomeň sa na mňa, Pane, keď prijdeš vo svojom kráľovstve!

43 (CPDV) And Jesus said to him, “Amen I say to you, this day you shall be with me in Paradise.”
43 (ROH) A Ježiš mu povedal: Ameň ti hovorím, dnes budeš so mnou v raji.

44 (CPDV) Now it was nearly the sixth hour, and a darkness occurred over the entire earth, until the ninth hour.
44 (ROH) A bolo okolo šiestej hodiny, a povstala tma na celej zemi a trvala až do deviatej hodiny.

45 (CPDV) And the sun was obscured. And the veil of the temple was torn down the middle.
45 (ROH) A slnce sa zatmilo, a chrámová opona sa roztrhla cez poly.

46 (CPDV) And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said: “Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.” And upon saying this, he expired.
46 (ROH) A Ježiš zvolal velikým hlasom a povedal: Otče, do tvojich rúk kladiem svojho ducha! A keď to povedal, vypustil dušu.

47 (CPDV) Now, the centurion, seeing what had happened, glorified God, saying, “Truly, this man was the Just One.”
47 (ROH) A keď videl stotník, čo sa stalo, oslavoval Boha a povedal: Tento človek bol skutočne spravedlivý.

48 (CPDV) And the entire crowd of those who came together to see this spectacle also saw what had happened, and they returned, striking their breasts.

49 (CPDV) Now all those who knew him, and the women who had followed him from Galilee, were standing at a distance, watching these things.

50 (CPDV) And behold, there was a man named Joseph, who was a councilman, a good and just man,
50 (ROH) A hľa, nejaký muž, menom Jozef, radca, človek, dobrý a spravedlivý,

51 (CPDV) (for he had not consented to their decision or their actions). He was from Arimathea, a city of Judea. And he was himself also anticipating the kingdom of God.

52 (CPDV) This man approached Pilate and petitioned for the body of Jesus.
52 (ROH) ten išiel k Pilátovi a vypýtal si telo Ježišovo.

53 (CPDV) And taking him down, he wrapped him in a fine linen cloth, and he placed him in a tomb hewn from rock, in which no one had ever been placed.
53 (ROH) A keď ho sňal, zavinul ho do jemného plátna a položil do hrobu, vytesaného v skale, v ktorom ešte nikdy nikto neležal.

54 (CPDV) And it was the day of Preparation, and the Sabbath was drawing near.
54 (ROH) A bol deň pripravovania, a nastávala sobota.

55 (CPDV) Now the women who had come with him from Galilee, by following, saw the tomb and the manner in which his body was placed.

56 (CPDV) And upon returning, they prepared aromatic spices and ointments. But on the Sabbath, indeed, they rested, according to the commandment.
56 (ROH) A navrátiac sa nahotovily voňavých vecí i mastí. Ale cez sobotu odpočívaly podľa prikázania.
