1 (HEM) ויהי בימים ההם ותצא דת מאת הקיסר אוגוסטוס לספר את כל ישבי תבל׃
1 (UKJV) And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.

2 (HEM) וזה המפקד היה הראשון בהיות קוריניוס שליט בסוריא׃
2 (UKJV) (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

3 (HEM) וילכו כלם להתפקד איש לעירו׃
3 (UKJV) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

4 (HEM) ויעל גם יוסף מן הגליל מעיר נצרת אל יהודה לעיר דוד הנקראה בית לחם כי היה מבית דוד וממשפחתו׃
4 (UKJV) "And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) "

5 (HEM) להתפקד עם מרים המארשה לו והיא הרה׃
5 (UKJV) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

6 (HEM) ויהי בהיותם שם וימלאו ימיה ללדת׃
6 (UKJV) And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

7 (HEM) ותלד את בנה הבכור ותחתלהו ותשכיבהו באבוס כי לא היה להם מקום במלון׃
7 (UKJV) "And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a crib; because there was no room for them in the inn. "

8 (HEM) ורעים היו בארץ ההיא לנים בשדה ושמרים את משמרות הלילה בעדרם׃
8 (UKJV) And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

9 (HEM) והנה מלאך יהוה נצב עליהם וכבוד יהוה הופיע עליהם מסביב וייראו יראה גדולה׃
9 (UKJV) And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

10 (HEM) ויאמר אליהם המלאך אל תיראו כי הנני מבשר אתכם שמחה גדולה אשר תהיה לכל העם׃
10 (UKJV) And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11 (HEM) כי היום ילד לכם בעיר דוד מושיע אשר הוא המשיח האדון׃
11 (UKJV) For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

12 (HEM) וזה לכם האות תמצאון ילד מחתל ומנח באבוס׃
12 (UKJV) "And this shall be a sign unto you; All of you shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a crib. "

13 (HEM) ויהי פתאם אצל המלאך המון צבא השמים והם משבחים את האלהים ואמרים׃
13 (UKJV) And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14 (HEM) כבוד במרומים לאלהים ובארץ שלום בבני אדם רצונו׃
14 (UKJV) Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

15 (HEM) ויהי כאשר עלו מעליהם המלאכים השמימה ויאמרו הרעים איש אל רעהו נעברה נא עד בית לחם ונראה המעשה הזה אשר הודיענו יהוה׃
15 (UKJV) And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing (o. rhema) which has come to pass, which the Lord has made known unto us.

16 (HEM) וימהרו לבוא וימצאו את מרים ואת יוסף ואת הילד שכב באבוס׃
16 (UKJV) And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a crib.

17 (HEM) ויראו וישמיעו את הדבר הנאמר אליהם על הגער הזה׃
17 (UKJV) And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying (o. rhema) which was told them concerning this child.

18 (HEM) וכל השמעים תמהו על הדברים אשר דברו אליהם הרעים׃
18 (UKJV) And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

19 (HEM) ומרים שמרה את הדברים האלה ותחשבם בלבה׃
19 (UKJV) But Mary kept all these things, (o. rhema) and pondered them in her heart.

20 (HEM) וישובו הרעים מהללים ומשבחים את האלהים על כל אשר שמעו וראו כפי אשר נאמר אליהם׃
20 (UKJV) And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

21 (HEM) ויהי במלאת לנער שמנה ימים וימול ויקרא שמו ישוע כשם אשר קרא לו המלאך בטרם הרה בבטן׃
21 (UKJV) And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

22 (HEM) וימלאו ימי טהרה לפי תורת משה ויעלהו לירושלים להעמידו לפני יהוה׃
22 (UKJV) "And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord; "

23 (HEM) כאשר כתוב בתורת יהוה כל זכר פטר רחם יקרא קדש ליהוה׃
23 (UKJV) "(As it is written in the law of the LORD, Every male that opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;) "

24 (HEM) ולתת קרבן כאמור בתורת יהוה שתי תרים או שני בני יונה׃
24 (UKJV) And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.

25 (HEM) והנה איש היה בירושלים ושמו שמעון והוא איש צדיק וחסיד מחכה לנחמת ישראל ורוח הקדש היה עליו׃
25 (UKJV) "And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Spirit (o. pneuma) was upon him. "

26 (HEM) ולו נגלה ברוח הקדש כי לא יראה מות עד ראותו את משיח יהוה׃
26 (UKJV) And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Spirit, (o. pneuma) that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.

27 (HEM) ויבא ברוח אל המקדש ויהי כאשר הביאו הוריו את הנער ישוע לעשות עליו כמשפט התורה׃
27 (UKJV) And he came by the Spirit (o. pneuma) into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,

28 (HEM) ויקחהו על זרעותיו ויברך את האלהים ויאמר׃
28 (UKJV) Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,

29 (HEM) עתה תפטר את עבדך כדברך אדני בשלום׃
29 (UKJV) Lord, now let you your servant depart in peace, according to your word: (o. rhema)

30 (HEM) כי ראו עיני את ישועתך׃
30 (UKJV) For mine eyes have seen your salvation,

31 (HEM) אשר הכינות לפני כל העמים׃
31 (UKJV) "Which you have prepared before the face of all people; "

32 (HEM) אור לגלות עיני הגוים ותפארת ישראל עמך׃
32 (UKJV) A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.

33 (HEM) ויוסף ואמו תמהים על הדברים הנאמרים עליו׃
33 (UKJV) And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.

34 (HEM) ויברך אותם שמעון ויאמר אל מרים אמו הנה זה מוסד לנפילה ולתקומה לרבים בישראל ולאות מריבה׃
34 (UKJV) "And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against; "

35 (HEM) וגם בנפשך תחתר חרב למען תגלינה מחשבות לבב רבים׃
35 (UKJV) (Yea, a sword shall pierce through your own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.

36 (HEM) ותהי שם חנה אשה נביאה בת פנואל משבט אשר והיא באה בימים וחיתה עם בעלה שבע שנים אחרי בתוליה׃
36 (UKJV) "And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity; "

37 (HEM) והיא אלמנה כארבע ושמנים שנה ולא משה מן המקדש ובצום ובתחנונים עבדה את האלהים לילה ויום׃
37 (UKJV) And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.

38 (HEM) ותקם בשעה ההיא ותגש להדות ליהוה ותדבר עליו באזני כל המחכים לגאלה בירושלים׃
38 (UKJV) And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spoke of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

39 (HEM) ויכלו את הכל כפי תורת יהוה וישובו הגלילה אל נצרת עירם׃
39 (UKJV) And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.

40 (HEM) ויגדל הנער ויחזק ברוח וימלא חכמה וחסד אלהים עמו׃
40 (UKJV) And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, (o. pneuma) filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

41 (HEM) ועלו הוריו ירושלים שנה בשנה לחג הפסח׃
41 (UKJV) Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover.

42 (HEM) ויהי בהיותו בן שתים עשרה שנה ויעלו ירושלים כמשפט החג׃
42 (UKJV) And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.

43 (HEM) וימלאו את הימים וישובו ויותר ישוע הנער בירושלים ויוסף ואמו לא ידעו׃
43 (UKJV) "And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it. "

44 (HEM) ויחשבו כי עם חבל הארחים הוא וילכו כדרך יום ויבקשהו בין הקרובים והמידעים׃
44 (UKJV) "But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance. "

45 (HEM) ולא מצאהו וישבו ירושלים לבקשו׃
45 (UKJV) And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him.

46 (HEM) ויהי אחרי שלשת ימים וימצאהו במקדש ישב בתוך המורים שמע אליהם ושאל אתם׃
46 (UKJV) And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.

47 (HEM) וכל השמעים אליו השתוממו על שכלו ועל תשובתיו׃
47 (UKJV) And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.

48 (HEM) ויהי כראותם אתו ויחרדו ותאמר אליו אמו בני מדוע ככה עשית לנו הנה אביך ואנכי בעצבת לב בקשנוך׃
48 (UKJV) And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why have you thus dealt with us? behold, your father and I have sought you sorrowing.

49 (HEM) ויאמר אליהם למה זה בקשתם אתי הלא ידעתם כי עלי להיות באשר לאבי׃
49 (UKJV) And he said unto them, How is it that all of you sought me? know all of you not that I must be about my Father's business?

50 (HEM) והם לא הבינו את הדבר אשר דבר אליהם׃
50 (UKJV) And they understood not the saying (o. rhema) which he spoke unto them.

51 (HEM) וירד אתם ויבא אל נצרת ויכנע להם ואמו שמרה בלבה את כל הדברים האלה׃
51 (UKJV) And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings (o. rhema) in her heart.

52 (HEM) וישוע הלך וגדל בחכמה ומקומה ובחן עם אלהים ועם אנשים׃
52 (UKJV) And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.
