“You know that after two days the Passover will begin, and the Son of man will be handed over to be crucified.”
Mk 14:1 - Now the feast of Passover and of Unleavened Bread was two days away. And the leaders of the priests, and the scribes, were seeking a means by which they might deceitfully seize him and kill him.

Mt 26,6 - Táto udalosť sa odohrala ešte v sobotu (porov. Jn 12, 1. 12). Sem ju vložili evanjelisti Mt a Mk len asi z tematických a obsahových príčin: spomína Kristov "pohreb" (v. 12).

Mt 26,15 - "Tridsať strieborných" mincí (asi týrskych šekelov). Denár bola rímska strieborná minca. Jeden denár bola priemerná mzda za celodennú nádennícku prácu. Drachma bola grécka minca o niečo hodnotnejšia ako denár. V Rímskej ríši okrem rímskych (cisárskych) mincí boli v obehu aj mince miestne alebo oblastné, akým bol týrsky šekel (štyri drachmy). – Tridsať strieborných bola cena otroka (Ex 21, 32; Zach 11, 12–13). Iba Jozefa, syna Jaku-bovho, predali za dvadsať strieborných mincí (Gn 37, 28).
Mt 26,17-25 - Mk 14, 12–21; Lk 22, 7–14. 21–23; Jn 13, 21–30.
Mt 26,17 - Slávnosť Veľkej noci u Židov trvala osem dní, od 14. do 21. nisana (jarný mesiac, asi druhá polovica marca a prvá polovica apríla). Cez tento čas jedli nekvasený chlieb (azyma, u nás známy ako maces), preto sa u Židov veľkonočné sviatky volajú aj sviatkami Nekvasených chlebov.
Mt 26,26-29 - Mk 14, 22–25; Lk 22, 19–20; 1 Kor 11, 23–25.
Mt 26,26-28 - Týmito slovami Spasiteľ ustanovil Eucharistiu.
Mt 26,29 - Tieto Ježišove slová sa nevzťahujú na eucharistický kalich, ale na ďalší kalich, ktorý patril ešte k veľkonočnej večeri. Nimi vyhlasuje, že na zemi už nebude sláviť veľkonočnú hostinu. Akoby povedal: Terajšia veľkonočná hostina je predobrazom blaženého života v nebi.

Mt 26,30 - Veľkonočná večera sa skončila spievaním žalmov 114–118, 23 a 136.
Mt 26,31 - Zach 13, 7. Odpadnúť znamená pohoršiť sa. Apoštoli si nevedia predstaviť, že Ježiš, ako Boží Syn, sa vydá do rúk nepriateľov.

Mt 26,64 - Dan 7, 13."Sedieť po pravici Moci" znamená vládnuť s Bohom Otcom nad svetom. "Prichádzať na nebeských oblakoch" znamená prichádzať ako sudca. Teda akoby povedal: Moje božstvo je teraz skryté, ale čoskoro zažiari v plnej sláve a velebe.
