1 (UKJV) And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in the plains of Moab on this side Jordan by Jericho.
1 (KAT) Potom šli Izraeliti ďalej a utáborili sa na Moabských stepiach pri Jordáne naproti Jerichu.

2 (UKJV) And Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites.
2 (KAT) Keď Seforov syn Balak videl, čo všetko Izrael urobil Amorejčanom,

3 (UKJV) And Moab was sore afraid of the people, because they were many: and Moab was distressed because of the children of Israel.
3 (KAT) Moab sa veľmi bál tohto národa, lebo bol veľký, a schytila ho hrôza pred Izraelitmi.

4 (UKJV) And Moab said unto the elders of Midian, Now shall this company lick up all that are round about us, as the ox licks up the grass of the field. And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time.
4 (KAT) Moabčania povedali madiánskym starším: „Tento húf nám požerie všetko vôkol nás, ako dobytok spása trávu na poli!“ A Seforov syn Balak, ktorý bol toho času moabským kráľom,

5 (UKJV) He sent messengers therefore unto Balaam the son of Beor to Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide opposite to me:
5 (KAT) poslal poslov k Beorovmu synovi Balámovi do Petoru na Eufrate, do krajiny jeho národa, aby ho privolal, a odkázal mu: „Je tu ľud, čo vyšiel z Egypta. Roztiahol sa už po celej krajine a usalašil sa naproti mne.

6 (UKJV) "Come now therefore, I pray you, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: possibly I shall prevail, that we may strike them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed. "
6 (KAT) Príď teda a prekľaj mi tento ľud, lebo je silnejší ako ja. Možno ho potom porazím a vyženiem z krajiny, lebo viem, že koho ty požehnáš, je požehnaný, a koho ty prekľaješ, je prekliaty.“

7 (UKJV) "And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came unto Balaam, and spoke unto him the words of Balak. "
7 (KAT) I vybrali sa moabskí starší a madiánski starší s odmenou za veštbu v rukách, prišli k Balámovi a odovzdali Balakov odkaz.

8 (UKJV) And he said unto them, Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as the LORD shall speak unto me: and the princes of Moab abode with Balaam.
8 (KAT) On im povedal: „Ostaňte túto noc tu a potom vám dám odpoveď podľa toho, čo mi povie Pán.“ Moabskí náčelníci ostali teda u Baláma.

9 (UKJV) And God came unto Balaam, and said, What men are these with you?
9 (KAT) Boh prišiel k Balámovi a povedal mu: „Čo sú to za muži u teba?!“

10 (UKJV) And Balaam said unto God, Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, has sent unto me, saying,
10 (KAT) Balám odpovedal Bohu: „Seforov syn Balak, moabský kráľ, mi odkázal:

11 (UKJV) "Behold, there is a people come out of Egypt, which covers the face of the earth: come now, curse me them; possibly I shall be able to overcome them, and drive them out. "
11 (KAT) Je tu ľud, čo vyšiel z Egypta, a roztiahol sa už po celej krajine. Príď teda a zariekni mi ho! Hádam potom budem môcť začať s ním bojovať a vyženiem ho.“

12 (UKJV) "And God said unto Balaam, You shall not go with them; you shall not curse the people: for they are blessed. "
12 (KAT) Boh však povedal Balámovi: „Nesmieš s nimi ísť! Nesmieš prekliať ten ľud, lebo je požehnaný!“

13 (UKJV) And Balaam rose up in the morning, and said unto the princes of Balak, Get you into your land: for the LORD refuses to give me leave to go with you.
13 (KAT) Keď Balám ráno vstal, povedal Balakovým náčelníkom: „Choďte len do svojej krajiny, lebo Pán mi nedovolil ísť s vami.“

14 (UKJV) And the princes of Moab rose up, and they went unto Balak, and said, Balaam refuses to come with us.
14 (KAT) Moabskí predáci sa pobrali, a keď došli k Balakovi, povedali mu: „Balám sa zdráhal ísť s nami.“

15 (UKJV) And Balak sent yet again princes, more, and more honourable than they.
15 (KAT) Nato Balak opäť poslal popredných mužov, viacerých a vznešenejších, ako boli prví.

16 (UKJV) And they came to Balaam, and said to him, Thus says Balak the son of Zippor, Let nothing, I pray you, hinder you from coming unto me:
16 (KAT) Keď prišli k Balámovi, povedali mu: „Toto odkazuje Seforov syn Balak: Neotáľaj prísť ku mne!

17 (UKJV) For I will promote you unto very great honour, and I will do whatsoever you say unto me: come therefore, I pray you, curse me this people.
17 (KAT) Bohato ťa odmením a urobím všetko, čo mi povieš. Len príď a zariekni mi tento ľud!“

18 (UKJV) And Balaam answered and said unto the servants of Balak, If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of the LORD my God, to do less or more.
18 (KAT) Ale Balám odvetil Balakovým služobníkom: „Keby mi dal Balak toľko striebra a zlata, koľko sa zmestí do jeho domu, nebudem môcť robiť proti rozkazu Pána, svojho Boha, ani viac, ani menej.

19 (UKJV) Now therefore, I pray you, tarry all of you also here this night, that I may know what the LORD will say unto me more.
19 (KAT) Ale zostaňte tu aj vy túto noc, aby ste sa dozvedeli, čo mi ďalej povie Pán.“

20 (UKJV) "And God came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men come to call you, rise up, and go with them; but yet the word which I shall say unto you, that shall you do. "
20 (KAT) Pán za noci prišiel k Balámovi a povedal mu: „Ak ťa títo mužovia prišli zavolať, tak sa vyber a choď s nimi! Ale smieš robiť len to, čo ti prikážem ja!“

21 (UKJV) And Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab.
21 (KAT) Ráno potom Balám vstal, osedlal svoju oslicu a odišiel s moabskými predákmi.

22 (UKJV) And God's anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him.
22 (KAT) Potom sa Boh rozhneval, že (Balám) už aj sám chcel ísť, a Pánov anjel mu zastúpil cestu, aby ho zadržal. Niesol sa totiž na oslici a sprevádzali ho jeho dvaja sluhovia.

23 (UKJV) And the ass saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam stroke the ass, to turn her into the way.
23 (KAT) Keď oslica videla na ceste stáť Pánovho anjela s vytaseným mečom v ruke, vybočila z cesty a išla poľom. Balám oslicu bil, aby ju zavrátil na cestu.

24 (UKJV) But the angel of the LORD stood in a path of the vineyards, a wall being on this side, and a wall on that side.
24 (KAT) Tu sa anjel postavil do úžľabiny medzi vinicami, kde stál z oboch strán múr.

25 (UKJV) And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she thrust herself unto the wall, and crushed Balaam's foot against the wall: and he stroke her again.
25 (KAT) Keď oslica zočila Pánovho anjela, pritisla sa o múr a Balámovi pritlačila o múr nohu. I bil ju znova.

26 (UKJV) And the angel of the LORD went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left.
26 (KAT) Pánov anjel ho zasa predišiel a zastal si na úzkom mieste, kde sa nedalo vyhnúť ani napravo, ani naľavo.

27 (UKJV) And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam's anger was kindled, and he stroke the ass with a staff.
27 (KAT) A keď Balámova oslica zbadala Pánovho anjela, padla pod Balámom. Balám sa rozhneval a ťal oslicu palicou.

28 (UKJV) And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto you, that you have smitten me these three times?
28 (KAT) Tu Pán otvoril oslici ústa a povedala Balámovi: „Čo som ti urobila, že si ma už tri razy bil?“

29 (UKJV) And Balaam said unto the ass, Because you have mocked me: I would there were a sword in mine hand, for now would I kill you.
29 (KAT) Balám odvetil oslici: „Lebo si si robila posmech zo mňa. Keby som mal poruke meč, tak by som ťa zabil.“

30 (UKJV) And the ass said unto Balaam, Am not I your ass, upon which you have ridden ever since I was your unto this day? was I ever known to do so unto you? And he said, Nay.
30 (KAT) Oslica odpovedala Balámovi: „A nie som ja tvoja oslica, na ktorej oddávna až dodnes jazdievaš? A urobila som ti niekedy niečo takéto?!“ On odpovedal: „Nie!“

31 (UKJV) Then the LORD opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and he bowed down his head, and fell flat on his face.
31 (KAT) Tu Pán otvoril Balámovi oči a zbadal, že na ceste stojí Pánov anjel s vytaseným mečom v ruke. Poklonil sa a vrhol sa na tvár.

32 (UKJV) And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Wherefore have you smitten your ass these three times? behold, I went out to withstand you, because your way is perverse before me:
32 (KAT) Pánov anjel mu povedal: „Prečo si už tri razy bil svoju oslicu? Pozri, ja sám som prišiel, aby som ťa zadržal, lebo táto cesta je proti mojej vôli.

33 (UKJV) And the ass saw me, and turned from me these three times: unless she had turned from me, surely now also I had slain you, and saved her alive.
33 (KAT) Oslica ma zbadala a tri razy sa mi vyhla. Keby sa mi nebola vyhla, bol by som ťa už zahubil. Ju by som však bol nechal nažive.“

34 (UKJV) "And Balaam said unto the angel of the LORD, I have sinned; for I knew not that you stood in the way against me: now therefore, if it displease you, I will get me back again. "
34 (KAT) Tu Balám povedal Pánovmu anjelovi: „Previnil som sa. Nevedel som, že sa mi ty staviaš do cesty. Teraz však, ak sa ti to neprotiví, vrátim sa späť.“

35 (UKJV) And the angel of the LORD said unto Balaam, Go with the men: but only the word that I shall speak unto you, that you shall speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.
35 (KAT) Pánov anjel však odvetil Balámovi: „Len choď s mužmi! Ale hovoriť budeš iba to, čo ti prikážem ja!“ A Balám šiel s Balakovými náčelníkmi.

36 (UKJV) And when Balak heard that Balaam was come, he went out to meet him unto a city of Moab, which is in the border of Arnon, which is in the utmost coast.
36 (KAT) Keď Balak počul, že sa blíži Balám, šiel mu v ústrety do moabského Iru, ktorý je na samých hraniciach arnonského územia.

37 (UKJV) And Balak said unto Balaam, Did I not earnestly send unto you to call you? wherefore came you not unto me? am I not able indeed to promote you to honour?
37 (KAT) A Balak povedal Balámovi: „Či som neposlal opäť po teba, aby som ťa privolal? Prečo si neprišiel hneď ku mne? Nie som vari schopný odmeniť ťa?“

38 (UKJV) And Balaam said unto Balak, Lo, I am come unto you: have I now any power at all to say any thing? the word that God puts in my mouth, that shall I speak.
38 (KAT) Balám odpovedal Balakovi: „Nuž prišiel som k tebe, ale sotva budem môcť niečo hovoriť. Poviem iba to slovo, ktoré mi vloží do úst Boh.“

39 (UKJV) And Balaam went with Balak, and they came unto Kirjathhuzoth.
39 (KAT) Potom išli Balak s Balámom ďalej a došli do Kirjat-Chusot.

40 (UKJV) And Balak offered oxen and sheep, and sent to Balaam, and to the princes that were with him.
40 (KAT) A keď Balak obetoval býky a ovce, poslal z nich Balámovi a náčelníkom, čo boli s ním.

41 (UKJV) And it came to pass on the next day, that Balak took Balaam, and brought him up into the high places of Baal, that thence he might see the utmost part of the people.
41 (KAT) Na druhý deň ráno vzal Balak Baláma so sebou a zaviedol ho na Bamot-Bál, odkiaľ bolo vidieť zadné (voje) izraelského ľudu.
