1 (WLC) וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃
1 (VUL) Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen dicens:
1 (UKJV) And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,

2 (WLC) אֱמֹ֨ר אֶל־אֶלְעָזָ֜ר בֶּן־אַהֲרֹ֣ן הַכֹּהֵ֗ן וְיָרֵ֤ם אֶת־הַמַּחְתֹּת֙ מִבֵּ֣ין הַשְּׂרֵפָ֔ה וְאֶת־הָאֵ֖שׁ זְרֵה־הָ֑לְאָה כִּ֖י קָדֵֽשׁוּ׃
2 (VUL) “ Praecipe Eleazaro filio Aaron sacerdoti, ut tollat turibula, quae iacent in incendio, et ignem huc illucque dispergat, quoniam sanctificata sunt
2 (UKJV) Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod according to the house of their fathers, of all their princes according to the house of their fathers twelve rods: write you every man's name upon his rod.

3 (WLC) אֵ֡ת מַחְתֹּות֩ הַֽחַטָּאִ֨ים הָאֵ֜לֶּה בְּנַפְשֹׁתָ֗ם וְעָשׂ֨וּ אֹתָ֜ם רִקֻּעֵ֤י פַחִים֙ צִפּ֣וּי לַמִּזְבֵּ֔חַ כִּֽי־הִקְרִיבֻ֥ם לִפְנֵֽי־יְהוָ֖ה וַיִּקְדָּ֑שׁוּ וְיִֽהְי֥וּ לְאֹ֖ות לִבְנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
3 (VUL) in mortibus peccatorum; producatque ea in laminas et affigat altari, eo quod attulerunt ea Domino, et sanctificata sunt, ut sint pro signo filiis Israel ”.
3 (UKJV) And you shall write Aaron's name upon the rod of Levi: for one rod shall be for the head of the house of their fathers.

4 (WLC) וַיִּקַּ֞ח אֶלְעָזָ֣ר הַכֹּהֵ֗ן אֵ֚ת מַחְתֹּ֣ות הַנְּחֹ֔שֶׁת אֲשֶׁ֥ר הִקְרִ֖יבוּ הַשְּׂרֻפִ֑ים וַֽיְרַקְּע֖וּם צִפּ֥וּי לַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃
4 (VUL) Tulit ergo Eleazar sacerdos turibula aenea, in quibus obtulerant hi, quos incendium devoravit, et produxit ea in laminas affigens altari,
4 (UKJV) And you shall lay them up in the tabernacle of the congregation before the testimony, where I will meet with you.

5 (WLC) זִכָּרֹ֞ון לִבְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל לְ֠מַעַן אֲשֶׁ֨ר לֹֽא־יִקְרַ֜ב אִ֣ישׁ זָ֗ר אֲ֠שֶׁר לֹ֣א מִזֶּ֤רַע אַהֲרֹן֙ ה֔וּא לְהַקְטִ֥יר קְטֹ֖רֶת לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וְלֹֽא־יִהְיֶ֤ה כְקֹ֙רַח֙ וְכַ֣עֲדָתֹ֔ו כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר דִּבֶּ֧ר יְהוָ֛ה בְּיַד־מֹשֶׁ֖ה לֹֽו׃
5 (VUL) ut haberent postea filii Israel, quibus commonerentur, ne quis accedat alienigena et, qui non est de semine Aaron, ad offerendum incensum Domino, ne patiatur sicut passus est Core et omnis congregatio eius, loquente Domino ad Moysen.
5 (UKJV) And it shall come to pass, that the man's rod, whom I shall choose, shall blossom: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they murmur against you.

6 (WLC) וַיִּלֹּ֜נוּ כָּל־עֲדַ֤ת בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ מִֽמָּחֳרָ֔ת עַל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה וְעַֽל־אַהֲרֹ֖ן לֵאמֹ֑ר אַתֶּ֥ם הֲמִתֶּ֖ם אֶת־עַ֥ם יְהוָֽה׃
6 (VUL) Murmuravit autem omnis congregatio filiorum Israel sequenti die contra Moysen et Aaron dicens: “ Vos interfecistis populum Domini ”.
6 (UKJV) And Moses spoke unto the children of Israel, and every one of their princes gave him a rod apiece, for each prince one, according to their fathers' houses, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron was among their rods.

7 (WLC) וַיְהִ֗י בְּהִקָּהֵ֤ל הָֽעֵדָה֙ עַל־מֹשֶׁ֣ה וְעַֽל־אַהֲרֹ֔ן וַיִּפְנוּ֙ אֶל־אֹ֣הֶל מֹועֵ֔ד וְהִנֵּ֥ה כִסָּ֖הוּ הֶעָנָ֑ן וַיֵּרָ֖א כְּבֹ֥וד יְהוָֽה׃
7 (VUL) Cumque oriretur seditio contra Moysen et Aaron, converterunt se ad tabernaculum conventus; quod operuit nubes, et apparuit gloria Domini.
7 (UKJV) And Moses laid up the rods before the LORD in the tabernacle of witness.

8 (WLC) וַיָּבֹ֤א מֹשֶׁה֙ וְאַהֲרֹ֔ן אֶל־פְּנֵ֖י אֹ֥הֶל מֹועֵֽד׃ פ
8 (VUL) Moyses et Aaron venerunt ante tabernaculum conventus.
8 (UKJV) "And it came to pass, that on the next day Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds. "

9 (WLC) וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃
9 (VUL) Dixitque Dominus ad Moysen:
9 (UKJV) And Moses brought out all the rods from before the LORD unto all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod.

10 (WLC) הֵרֹ֗מּוּ מִתֹּוךְ֙ הָעֵדָ֣ה הַזֹּ֔את וַאֲכַלֶּ֥ה אֹתָ֖ם כְּרָ֑גַע וַֽיִּפְּל֖וּ עַל־פְּנֵיהֶֽם׃
10 (VUL) “ Recedite de medio congregationis huius, nam extemplo delebo eos ”. Et ceciderunt in faciem suam.
10 (UKJV) "And the LORD said unto Moses, Bring Aaron's rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and you shall quite take away their murmurings from me, that they die not. "

11 (WLC) וַיֹּ֨אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֜ה אֶֽל־אַהֲרֹ֗ן קַ֣ח אֶת־הַ֠מַּחְתָּה וְתֶן־עָלֶ֨יהָ אֵ֜שׁ מֵעַ֤ל הַמִּזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ וְשִׂ֣ים קְטֹ֔רֶת וְהֹולֵ֧ךְ מְהֵרָ֛ה אֶל־הָעֵדָ֖ה וְכַפֵּ֣ר עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם כִּֽי־יָצָ֥א הַקֶּ֛צֶף מִלִּפְנֵ֥י יְהוָ֖ה הֵחֵ֥ל הַנָּֽגֶף׃
11 (VUL) Dixit Moyses ad Aaron: “ Tolle turibulum et, hausto igne de altari, mitte incensum desuper pergens cito ad populum, ut expies pro eis; iam enim egressa est ira a Domino, et plaga desaevit ”.
11 (UKJV) And Moses did so: as the LORD commanded him, so did he.

12 (WLC) וַיִּקַּ֨ח אַהֲרֹ֜ן כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר ׀ דִּבֶּ֣ר מֹשֶׁ֗ה וַיָּ֙רָץ֙ אֶל־תֹּ֣וך הַקָּהָ֔ל וְהִנֵּ֛ה הֵחֵ֥ל הַנֶּ֖גֶף בָּעָ֑ם וַיִּתֵּן֙ אֶֽת־הַקְּטֹ֔רֶת וַיְכַפֵּ֖ר עַל־הָעָֽם׃
12 (VUL) Quod cum fecisset Aaron et cucurrisset ad mediam congregationem, quam iam vastabat plaga, obtulit thymiama et expiavit pro populo;
12 (UKJV) And the children of Israel spoke unto Moses, saying, Behold, we die, we perish, we all perish.

13 (WLC) וַיַּעֲמֹ֥ד בֵּֽין־הַמֵּתִ֖ים וּבֵ֣ין הַֽחַיִּ֑ים וַתֵּעָצַ֖ר הַמַּגֵּפָֽה׃
13 (VUL) et stetit inter mortuos ac viventes, et plaga cessavit.
13 (UKJV) Whosoever comes any thing near unto the tabernacle of the LORD shall die: shall we be consumed with dying?

14 (WLC) וַיִּהְי֗וּ הַמֵּתִים֙ בַּמַּגֵּפָ֔ה אַרְבָּעָ֥ה עָשָׂ֛ר אֶ֖לֶף וּשְׁבַ֣ע מֵאֹ֑ות מִלְּבַ֥ד הַמֵּתִ֖ים עַל־דְּבַר־קֹֽרַח׃
14 (VUL) Fuerunt autem, qui percussi sunt, quattuordecim milia hominum et septingenti, absque his, qui perierant in seditione Core.
14 ----

15 (WLC) וַיָּ֤שָׁב אַהֲרֹן֙ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֔ה אֶל־פֶּ֖תַח אֹ֣הֶל מֹועֵ֑ד וְהַמַּגֵּפָ֖ה נֶעֱצָֽרָה׃ פ
15 (VUL) Reversusque est Aaron ad Moysen ad ostium tabernaculi conventus, postquam quievit interitus.
15 ----

16 (WLC) וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃
16 (VUL) Et locutus est Dominus ad Moysen dicens:
16 ----

17 (WLC) דַּבֵּ֣ר ׀ אֶל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל וְקַ֣ח מֵֽאִתָּ֡ם מַטֶּ֣ה מַטֶּה֩ לְבֵ֨ית אָ֜ב מֵאֵ֤ת כָּל־נְשִֽׂיאֵהֶם֙ לְבֵ֣ית אֲבֹתָ֔ם שְׁנֵ֥ים עָשָׂ֖ר מַטֹּ֑ות אִ֣ישׁ אֶת־שְׁמֹ֔ו תִּכְתֹּ֖ב עַל־מַטֵּֽהוּ׃
17 (VUL) “ Loquere ad filios Israel et accipe ab eis virgas singulas per cognationes suas, a cunctis principibus tribuum virgas duodecim, et uniuscuiusque nomen superscribes virgae suae.
17 ----

18 (WLC) וְאֵת֙ שֵׁ֣ם אַהֲרֹ֔ן תִּכְתֹּ֖ב עַל־מַטֵּ֣ה לֵוִ֑י כִּ֚י מַטֶּ֣ה אֶחָ֔ד לְרֹ֖אשׁ בֵּ֥ית אֲבֹותָֽם׃
18 (VUL) Nomen autem Aaron scribes in virga Levi, et una virga cunctas seorsum familias continebit.
18 ----

19 (WLC) וְהִנַּחְתָּ֖ם בְּאֹ֣הֶל מֹועֵ֑ד לִפְנֵי֙ הָֽעֵד֔וּת אֲשֶׁ֛ר אִוָּעֵ֥ד לָכֶ֖ם שָֽׁמָּה׃
19 (VUL) Ponesque eas in tabernaculo conventus coram testimonio, ubi conveniam cum vobis.
19 ----

20 (WLC) וְהָיָ֗ה הָאִ֛ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֥ר אֶבְחַר־בֹּ֖ו מַטֵּ֣הוּ יִפְרָ֑ח וַהֲשִׁכֹּתִ֣י מֵֽעָלַ֗י אֶת־תְּלֻנֹּות֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁ֛ר הֵ֥ם מַלִּינִ֖ם עֲלֵיכֶֽם׃
20 (VUL) Quem ex his elegero, germinabit virga eius; et cohibebo a me querimonias filiorum Israel, quibus contra vos murmurant ”.
20 ----

21 (WLC) וַיְדַבֵּ֨ר מֹשֶׁ֜ה אֶל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל וַיִּתְּנ֣וּ אֵלָ֣יו ׀ כָּֽל־נְשִֽׂיאֵיהֶ֡ם מַטֶּה֩ לְנָשִׂ֨יא אֶחָ֜ד מַטֶּ֨ה לְנָשִׂ֤יא אֶחָד֙ לְבֵ֣ית אֲבֹתָ֔ם שְׁנֵ֥ים עָשָׂ֖ר מַטֹּ֑ות וּמַטֵּ֥ה אַהֲרֹ֖ן בְּתֹ֥וךְ מַטֹּותָֽם׃
21 (VUL) Locutusque est Moyses ad filios Israel, et dederunt ei omnes principes virgas per singulas tribus; fueruntque virgae duodecim, et virga Aaron in medio earum.
21 ----

22 (WLC) וַיַּנַּ֥ח מֹשֶׁ֛ה אֶת־הַמַּטֹּ֖ת לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה בְּאֹ֖הֶל הָעֵדֻֽת׃
22 (VUL) Quas cum posuisset Moyses coram Domino in tabernaculo testimonii,
22 ----

23 (WLC) וַיְהִ֣י מִֽמָּחֳרָ֗ת וַיָּבֹ֤א מֹשֶׁה֙ אֶל־אֹ֣הֶל הָעֵד֔וּת וְהִנֵּ֛ה פָּרַ֥ח מַטֵּֽה־אַהֲרֹ֖ן לְבֵ֣ית לֵוִ֑י וַיֹּ֤צֵֽא פֶ֙רַח֙ וַיָּ֣צֵֽץ צִ֔יץ וַיִּגְמֹ֖ל שְׁקֵדִֽים׃
23 (VUL) sequenti die regressus invenit germinasse virgam Aaron in domo Levi; et turgentibus gemmis eruperant flores, qui, foliis dilatatis, in amygdalas deformati sunt.

24 (WLC) וַיֹּצֵ֨א מֹשֶׁ֤ה אֶת־כָּל־הַמַּטֹּת֙ מִלִּפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה אֶֽל־כָּל־בְּנֵ֖י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיִּרְא֥וּ וַיִּקְח֖וּ אִ֥ישׁ מַטֵּֽהוּ׃ ס
24 (VUL) Protulit ergo Moyses omnes virgas de conspectu Domini ad cunctos filios Israel; videruntque et receperunt singuli virgas suas.

25 (WLC) וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֜ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֗ה הָשֵׁ֞ב אֶת־מַטֵּ֤ה אַהֲרֹן֙ לִפְנֵ֣י הָעֵד֔וּת לְמִשְׁמֶ֥רֶת לְאֹ֖ות לִבְנֵי־מֶ֑רִי וּתְכַ֧ל תְּלוּנֹּתָ֛ם מֵעָלַ֖י וְלֹ֥א יָמֻֽתוּ׃
25 (VUL) Dixitque Dominus ad Moysen: “ Refer virgam Aaron coram testimonio, ut servetur ibi in signum rebellium filiorum Israel, et quiescant querelae eorum a me, ne moriantur ”.

26 (WLC) וַיַּ֖עַשׂ מֹשֶׁ֑ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר צִוָּ֧ה יְהוָ֛ה אֹתֹ֖ו כֵּ֥ן עָשָֽׂה׃ ס
26 (VUL) Fecitque Moyses, sicut praeceperat Dominus.
26 ----

27 (WLC) וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֖ה לֵאמֹ֑ר הֵ֥ן גָּוַ֛עְנוּ אָבַ֖דְנוּ כֻּלָּ֥נוּ אָבַֽדְנוּ׃
27 (VUL) Dixerunt autem filii Israel ad Moysen: “ Ecce consumpti sumus, perimus, omnes perimus!
27 ----

28 (WLC) כֹּ֣ל הַקָּרֵ֧ב ׀ הַקָּרֵ֛ב אֶל־מִשְׁכַּ֥ן יְהוָ֖ה יָמ֑וּת הַאִ֥ם תַּ֖מְנוּ לִגְוֹֽעַ׃ ס
28 (VUL) Quicumque accedit ad habitaculum Domini, moritur. Num usque ad internecionem cuncti delendi sumus? ”.
