1 (KJV) In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying,
1 (B21) Ve druhém roce vlády krále Dareia, prvního dne šestého měsíce, přišlo skrze proroka Agea slovo Hospodinovo k judskému místodržiteli Zerubábelovi, synu Šealtielovu, a k veleknězi Jošuovi, synu Jocadakovu:

2 (KJV) Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD's house should be built.
2 (B21) "Tak praví Hospodin zástupů - Tento lid říká: ‚Ještě nepřišel ten čas; není čas budovat Hospodinův chrám.'"

3 (KJV) Then came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,
3 (B21) Proto skrze proroka Agea přišlo slovo Hospodinovo:

4 (KJV) Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste?
4 (B21) "Podle vás je tedy čas, abyste si žili ve svých vyzdobených domech, zatímco tento chrám je v troskách?

5 (KJV) Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
5 (B21) Nuže tak praví Hospodin zástupů: Všimněte si, jak se vám vede.

6 (KJV) Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.
6 (B21) Sejete mnoho, a sklízíte málo. Jíte, a nenajíte se. Pijete, a máte žízeň. Oblékáte se, a vůbec to nehřeje. Kdo něco vydělá, nosí to v měšci děravém.

7 (KJV) Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
7 (B21) Tak praví Hospodin zástupů: Všimněte si, jak se vám vede!

8 (KJV) Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.
8 (B21) Vypravte se do hor, přivezte dřevo a stavte chrám. Já pak v něm najdu zalíbení, a tak se oslavím, praví Hospodin.

9 (KJV) Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.
9 (B21) Očekáváte mnoho, a je z toho málo. Co přivezete domů, to rozfoukám. A proč? praví Hospodin zástupů. Protože můj chrám je v troskách a vy se staráte každý jen o svůj dům.

10 (KJV) Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed from her fruit.
10 (B21) Proto nad vámi nebe zadrželo rosu a země zadržela svou úrodu.

11 (KJV) And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands.
11 (B21) Přivolal jsem sucho na tuto zemi i na hory, na obilí, víno, olej i na vše ostatní, co roste ze země, a také na lidi, na dobytek a na všechno, na čem pracujete."

12 (KJV) Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the LORD.
12 (B21) Zerubábel, syn Šealtielův, velekněz Jošua, syn Jocadakův, i všechen zbývající lid tehdy poslechli hlas Hospodina, svého Boha, totiž slova proroka Agea, neboť ho poslal Hospodin, jejich Bůh. A lid byl naplněn bázní před Hospodinem.

13 (KJV) Then spake Haggai the LORD's messenger in the LORD's message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the LORD.
13 (B21) Ageus, Hospodinův posel, pak lidu vyřídil Hospodinovo poselství: "Já jsem s vámi, praví Hospodin."

14 (KJV) And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God,
14 (B21) Hospodin tenkrát roznítil ducha judského místodržitele Zerubábela, syna Šealtielova, ducha velekněze Jošuy, syna Jocadakova, i ducha všeho zbývajícího lidu. Přišli a dali se do práce na chrámu Hospodina zástupů, svého Boha.

15 (KJV) In the four and twentieth day of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.
