Kniha proroka Habakuka

1 (KJV) I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.
1 (KAT) Postavím sa na svoju stráž, umiestnim sa na hradbe a budem sliediť, aby som zbadal, čo bude ku mne hovoriť a čo odpovie na moju ponosu.

2 (KJV) And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
2 (KAT) Pán mi odpovedal: „Napíš videnie, a to jasne na tabuľu, aby sa dalo plynule čítať.

3 (KJV) For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
3 (KAT) Lebo videnie je ešte na určený čas, no náhli sa ku koncu a nesklame; ak sa oddiali, čakaj naň, veď určite príde a nezmešká.

4 (KJV) Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
4 (KAT) Hľa, nadúva sa, v kom nie je duša priama, spravodlivý však bude žiť pre svoju vernosť.“

5 (KJV) Yea also, because he transgresseth by wine, he is a proud man, neither keepeth at home, who enlargeth his desire as hell, and is as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth unto him all nations, and heapeth unto him all people:
5 (KAT) A ako je víno klamlivé, nebude mať slávu muž nadutý, ktorý si otvára hrtan ako podsvetie, je ako smrť, nezasýti sa, zhrabal k sebe všetky národy a zhromaždil k sebe všetky kmene.

6 (KJV) Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, Woe to him that increaseth that which is not his! how long? and to him that ladeth himself with thick clay!
6 (KAT) Či títo všetci nespravia porekadlo o ňom, posmešnú hádanku, a nepovedia: „Beda tomu, kto hromadí, čo nie je jeho. Dokedy ešte? A hromadí proti sebe mračno hliny.“?

7 (KJV) Shall they not rise up suddenly that shall bite thee, and awake that shall vex thee, and thou shalt be for booties unto them?
7 (KAT) Či nepovstanú náhle, čo zahryznú do teba, a nezobudia sa, čo tebou otrasú? Potom im budeš korisťou.

8 (KJV) Because thou hast spoiled many nations, all the remnant of the people shall spoil thee; because of men's blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein.
8 (KAT) Preto, že si vyplienil mnohé národy, vyplienia ťa všetky ostatné kmene, pre ľudskú krv, pre násilnosť na zemi, na meste a všetkých jeho občanoch.

9 (KJV) Woe to him that coveteth an evil covetousness to his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil!
9 (KAT) Beda tomu, kto hromadí korisť na nešťastie svojho domu, chce si položiť hniezdo do výšav, aby unikol ruke nešťastia.

10 (KJV) Thou hast consulted shame to thy house by cutting off many people, and hast sinned against thy soul.
10 (KAT) Odhodlal si sa, na hanbu svojho domu, povytínať mnohé národy a tvoja duša hreší.

11 (KJV) For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it.
11 (KAT) Veď kameň z múru bude kričať a hrada z väzby mu odpovie:

12 (KJV) Woe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and stablisheth a city by iniquity!
12 (KAT) Beda tomu, kto krvou stavia mesto a upevňuje osadu zločinom!

13 (KJV) Behold, is it not of the LORD of hosts that the people shall labour in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity?
13 (KAT) Hľa, či to nie je od Pána zástupov, že kmene robia pre oheň a národy sa ustávajú pre nič?

14 (KJV) For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
14 (KAT) Lebo zem bude plná poznania Pánovej slávy ako vody, ktoré pokrývajú more.

15 (KJV) Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!
15 (KAT) Beda tomu, kto napája svojho blížneho, primiešava mu svoju zlosť a opíja ho, aby videl jeho nahotu.

16 (KJV) Thou art filled with shame for glory: drink thou also, and let thy foreskin be uncovered: the cup of the LORD's right hand shall be turned unto thee, and shameful spewing shall be on thy glory.
16 (KAT) Sýtil si sa viac hanbou než cťou, nuž pi aj ty a ukáž svoju neobrezanosť: obráti sa k tebe kalich Pánovej pravice a potupa k tvojej cti.

17 (KJV) For the violence of Lebanon shall cover thee, and the spoil of beasts, which made them afraid, because of men's blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein.
17 (KAT) Lebo násilie Libanonu ťa pokryje a trápenie zvierat ťa podesí pre ľudskú krv, pre násilie na zemi, na meste a všetkých jeho obyvateľoch.

18 (KJV) What profiteth the graven image that the maker thereof hath graven it; the molten image, and a teacher of lies, that the maker of his work trusteth therein, to make dumb idols?
18 (KAT) Čo pomôže socha, že ju urobil rezbár, liatina a lživý učiteľ, že jej dôveroval tvorca, čo ju spravil, keď robil nemých bôžikov?

19 (KJV) Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it.
19 (KAT) Beda tomu, kto vraví drevu: „Zobuď sa!“, „Vstaň!“ nemému kameňu; či to on počuje? Hľa, je obtiahnutý zlatom a striebrom, ale života nijakého v ňom niet.

20 (KJV) But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.
20 (KAT) Pán však je vo svojom svätom chráme, nech pred ním zamĺkne celá zem!
