1 (KJV) Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime:
1 (KAT) Toto hovorí Pán: „Pre tri hriechy Moabu, ba pre štyri - neodvolám to: pretože spálili kosti kráľa Edomu na vápno,
2 (KJV) But I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth: and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet:
2 (KAT) vrhnem oheň na Moabsko a strávi paláce Kariotu a Moab zomrie v lomoze, v hluku a za zvuku trúby.
3 (KJV) And I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will slay all the princes thereof with him, saith the LORD.
3 (KAT) Vyhubím z jeho stredu sudcov a všetky jeho kniežatá zabijem s ním“ - hovorí Pán.
4 (KJV) Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have despised the law of the LORD, and have not kept his commandments, and their lies caused them to err, after the which their fathers have walked:
4 (KAT) Toto hovorí Pán: „Pre tri hriechy Júdu, ba pre štyri - neodvolám to: pretože zavrhli Pánov zákon a nezachovali jeho predpisy - zviedli ich do bludu ich lži, za ktorými chodili ich otcovia -,
5 (KJV) But I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.
5 (KAT) vrhnem oheň na Júdu a strávi paláce Jeruzalema.“
6 (KJV) Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes;
6 (KAT) Toto hovorí Pán: „Pre tri hriechy Izraela, ba pre štyri - neodvolám to: pretože poctivca predali za peniaz a bedára za pár topánok.
7 (KJV) That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the same maid, to profane my holy name:
7 (KAT) V prachu zeme šliapu po hlave maličkých a krivia cestu utlačených; otec so synom ide k dievčaťu,
8 (KJV) And they lay themselves down upon clothes laid to pledge by every altar, and they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god.
8 (KAT) aby znesvätili moje sväté meno. Na založených plášťoch sa váľajú pri každom oltári a pijú víno pokutovaných v dome svojho Boha.
9 (KJV) Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.
9 (KAT) A ja som vyničil spred nich Amorejčanov, vysokých ako výška cédra a silných ako duby; zničil som ich ovocie zhora a ich korene zdola.
10 (KJV) Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.
10 (KAT) Ja som vás vyviedol z egyptskej krajiny a viedol som vás štyridsať rokov po púšti, aby ste zaujali krajinu Amorejčanov.
11 (KJV) And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith the LORD.
11 (KAT) Z vašich synov som ustanovil prorokov a z vašich mladíkov nazirejcov; či je to nie tak, synovia Izraela? - hovorí Pán.
12 (KJV) But ye gave the Nazarites wine to drink; and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not.
12 (KAT) Lenže nazirejcom ste dali piť víno a prorokom ste rozkazovali: »Neprorokujte!«
13 (KJV) Behold, I am pressed under you, as a cart is pressed that is full of sheaves.
13 (KAT) Hľa, bude škrípať pod vami ako škrípe voz plný snopov.
14 (KJV) Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mighty deliver himself:
14 (KAT) Vtedy ľahký stratí beh, mocný si nezocelí silu a hrdina si nezachráni život.
15 (KJV) Neither shall he stand that handleth the bow; and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver himself: neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself.
15 (KAT) Kušostrelec neobstojí, ľahkonohý neutečie, jazdec si nezachráni život na koni.
16 (KJV) And he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, saith the LORD.
16 (KAT) Najsrdnatejší z hrdinov bude nahý bežať v ten deň“ - hovorí Pán.

Verš 9
Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.
Nm 21:24 - And Israel smote him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from Arnon unto Jabbok, even unto the children of Ammon: for the border of the children of Ammon was strong.
Dt 2:31 - And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest inherit his land.
Joz 24:8 - And I brought you into the land of the Amorites, which dwelt on the other side Jordan; and they fought with you: and I gave them into your hand, that ye might possess their land; and I destroyed them from before you.
Verš 10
Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.
Ex 12:51 - And it came to pass the selfsame day, that the LORD did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies.
Verš 12
But ye gave the Nazarites wine to drink; and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not.
Am 7:12 - Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:

Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes;
Am 8:6 - That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; yea, and sell the refuse of the wheat?
Am 2,1-3 - Nevieme, kedy spáchali Moabčania tento zločin zhanobenia mŕtvoly. Moabské mesto Kariot sa spomína aj u Jer 48,24.41. Jeho poloha nie je nám známa, ale sotva je totožné s Kariataimom, spomínaným u Jer 48,1.23. – Miesto "na vápno" prekladá Vulg "na popol".
Am 2,4 - "Lži" sú modly.
Am 2,6 - Výrok proti Izraelu je najdlhší, pretože Amos hovorí k Izraelitom. Všetky ostatné výroky boli len úvodom k tomuto výroku. – Prvý zločin je úplatkárstvo. Sudcovia za biedny úplatok odsúdia nevinného.
Am 2,7 - Ďalej sa vyčíta Izraelu utláčanie sociálne slabších a nehanebnosť blízka krvismilstvu.
Am 2,8 - Ak veriteľ vzal od chudobného dlžníka do zálohy plášť, musel mu ho večer vrátiť, aby sa chudobný mal čím v noci prikryť (Ex 22,25; Dt 24,12). Izraeliti sa na takýchto plášťoch vyvaľujú a hodujú pri víne, kúpenom za pokuty, nespravodlivo vybrané od utláčaných; robia to zrovna na posvätných miestach. Domom Boha sa tu volajú svätyne v Beteli a Dane, kde Izraeliti uctievali Boha, zobrazeného zlatým teľaťom. Prorok neschvaľuje túto zakázanú bohoslužbu, iba zdôrazňuje, že Izraeliti páchajú neláskavosti k blížnym na miestach, ktoré sami pokladajú za sväté.
Am 2,9 - Amorejčania boli najmocnejším z národov kanaánskych. K vzrastu kanaánskych národov porov. Nm 13,33.
