1 (UKJV) And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,
1 (ROH) A Hospodin hovoril Mojžišovi a riekol:
2 (UKJV) "Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a male child: then she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean. "
2 (ROH) Hovor synom Izraelovým a povedz: Žena, keby mala plod, a porodila by chlapča, bude nečistá sedem dní jako vo dňoch, v ktorých sa oddeľuje pre svoju mesačnú nemoc, nečistá bude.
3 (UKJV) And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.
3 (ROH) A ôsmeho dňa sa obreže telo jeho neobriezky.
4 (UKJV) "And she shall then continue in the blood of her purifying three and thirty days; she shall touch no hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying be fulfilled. "
4 (ROH) A ona zostane tridsaťtri dní doma v krvi svojho očisťovania sa. Nedotkne sa ničoho svätého ani nevojde do svätyne, dokiaľ sa nevyplnia dni jej očisťovania sa.
5 (UKJV) But if she bear a female child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying threescore and six days.
5 (ROH) A keď porodí dievča, bude nečistá dva týždne, jako vo svojom mesačnom oddelení, a zostane šesťdesiatšesť dní doma v krvi svojho očisťovania sa.
6 (UKJV) And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, for a son, or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtledove, for a sin offering, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest:
6 (ROH) A keď sa vyplnia dni jej očisťovania, už či za syna a či za dcéru, prinesie ročného baránka na zápalnú obeť a holúbä alebo hrdličku, samca, na obeť za hriech ku dveriam stánu shromaždenia, ku kňazovi,
7 (UKJV) "Who shall offer it before the LORD, and make an atonement for her; and she shall be cleansed from the issue of her blood. This is the law for her that has born a male or a female. "
7 (ROH) ktorý ho bude obetovať pred Hospodinom a pokryje na nej hriech, a tak bude čistá od toku svojej krvi. Toto je zákon, týkajúci sa ženy, ktorá porodila chlapča alebo dievča.
8 (UKJV) "And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean. "
8 (ROH) A keby nemala toľko, aby mohla obetovať dobytča, vtedy vezme dve hrdličky alebo dvoje holúbät, samcov, jedno na zápalnú obeť a druhé na obeť za hriech, a kňaz pokryje na nej hriech, a bude čistá.

Verš 3
And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.
Gn 17:12 - And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every male child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of your seed.
Lk 1:59 - "And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father. "
Lk 2:21 - And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
Jn 7:22 - "Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and all of you on the sabbath day circumcise a man. "
Lv 12,1-5 - Nečistota rodičky nebola mravnou nečistotou, je to len obradná, čiže levitská nečistota. Pôrodné bolesti pripomínali prvý hriech, za ktorý Eva dostala trest v bolesti rodiť deti (Gn 3,16). Boh týmto zákonom chcel upozorňovať na prvý hriech a na jeho následky: odlúčenie od Boha, smrť a rozličné biedy a strasti. Narodenie dieťaťa bolo radosťou, bezdetnosť sa považovala za trest.
Lv 12,6-8 - Pre porodenie alebo počatie matka nemohla byť považovaná za duševne nečistú. Pojem jej nečistoty mal vzťah jedine na jej telesný stav (15,19–24). – Za sedem dní bola nečistá a poškvrňovala všetko, čoho sa len dotkla. V ďalších 33 dňoch stala sa jej nečistota obyčajnou, nesmela sa dotknúť posvätnej veci alebo priblížiť sa k svätostánku. Keď porodila dievča, táto nečistota trvala časove dvojnásobne. Celostnou žertvou sa ďakovalo za dieťa. Hrdlička alebo holúbok prinášali sa za hriech, nie však za osobný, teda mravný priestupok, ale za obradný nedostatok, za pôrod a telesný stav po pôrode, čo vnútorne nebolo nijako hriešne. Túto obetu priniesla aj Panna Mária (Lk 2,24).
