Oz 1, 1-11

1 (VUL) Verbum Domini, quod factum est ad Osee filium Beeri in die bus Oziae, Ioatham, Achaz, Ezechiae regum Iudae, et in diebus Ieroboam filii Ioas regis Israel.
1 (UKJV) The word of the LORD that came unto Hosea, the son of Beeri, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel.

2 (VUL) Principium verbi Domini per Osee. Dixit Dominus ad Osee: “ Vade, sume tibi mulierem fornicationum et filios fornicationum, quia fornicans fornicatur terra a Domino ”.
2 (UKJV) The beginning of the word of the LORD by Hosea. And the LORD said to Hosea, Go, take unto you a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land has committed great whoredom, departing from the LORD.

3 (VUL) Et abiit et accepit Gomer filiam Debelaim, quae concepit et peperit ei filium.
3 (UKJV) "So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim; which conceived, and bare him a son. "

4 (VUL) Et dixit Dominus ad eum: “ Voca nomen eius 'Iezrahel', quoniam adhuc modicum et visitabo sanguinem Iezrahel super domum Iehu et cessare faciam regnum domus Israel;
4 (UKJV) "And the LORD said unto him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and will cause to cease the kingdom of the house of Israel. "

5 (VUL) et in illa die conteram arcum Israel in valle Iezrahel ”.
5 (UKJV) And it shall come to pass at that day, that I will break the bow of Israel, in the valley of Jezreel.

6 (VUL) Et concepit adhuc et peperit filiam; et dixit ei: “ Voca nomen eius “Absque misericordia”, quia non addam ultra misereri domui Israel, ut ignoscam eis.
6 (UKJV) "And she conceived again, and bare a daughter. And God said unto him, Call her name Loruhamah: for I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel; but I will utterly take them away. "

7 (VUL) Et domui Iudae miserebor et salvabo eos in Domino Deo suo et non salvabo eos in arcu et gladio et in bello et in equis et in equitibus ”.
7 (UKJV) But I will have mercy upon the house of Judah, and will save them by the LORD their God, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen.

8 (VUL) Et ablactavit eam, quae erat 'Absque misericordia', et concepit et peperit filium.
8 (UKJV) Now when she had weaned Loruhamah, she conceived, and bare a son.

9 (VUL) Et dixit: “ Voca nomen eius 'Non populus meus', quia vos non populus meus, et ego 'Non sum' vobis.
9 (UKJV) Then said God, Call his name Loammi: for all of you are not my people, and I will not be your God.

10 (UKJV) "Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, All of you are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, All of you are the sons of the living God. "

11 (UKJV) Then shall the children of Judah and the children of Israel be gathered together, and appoint themselves one head, and they shall come up out of the land: for great shall be the day of Jezreel.

Iz 11:13 - Et auferetur zelus Ephraim, et hostes Iudae abscindentur; Ephraim non aemulabitur Iudam, et Iudas non pugnabit contra Ephraim.

Jer 3:18 - In diebus illis ibit domus Iudae ad domum Israel, et venient simul de terra aquilonis ad terram, quam dedi in hereditatem patribus vestris.

Ez 37:16 - “ Et tu, fili hominis, sume tibi lignum unum et scribe super illud: Iudae et filiis Israel sociis eius. Et tolle lignum alterum et scribe super illud: Ioseph, lignum Ephraim, et cunctae domui Israel sociis eius.

Ez 37:22 - et faciam eos in gentem unam in terra, in montibus Israel; et rex unus erit omnibus imperans, et non erunt ultra duae gentes nec dividentur amplius in duo regna.

Ef 2:14 - Ipse est enim pax nostra, qui fecit utraque unum et medium parietem maceriae solvit, inimicitiam, in carne sua,

Oz 1,1 - O Ozeášovi, o jeho otcovi Bérim a o júdskych a izraelských kráľoch Ozeášovej doby pozri úvod o tomto prorokovi.

Oz 1,2 - Pomer Boha k Izraelu zvýrazňuje sa obrazom manželstva; pozri pozn. k Iz 50,1 n. Prorok Ozeáš svojím manželstvom má naznačovať milosrdenstvo Pána, ktorý po prechode cez Červené more na hore Sinaj uzavrel s národom manželskú zmluvu, hoci národ už v Egypte, pred uzavretím zmluvy, páchal modloslužbu. Dietky – Izraeliti – nie sú lepší než ich matka. Smilstvom a cudzoložstvom sa volá modloslužba, lebo touto pácha národ nevernosť k Pánovi.

Oz 1,4 - Jezrael bola úrodná rovina na území kmeňa Isachar. Na východnom kraji tejto roviny ležalo mesto toho istého mena (neskoršie sa volalo aj Esdrelon). Tu spáchal Achab a jeho manželka Jezabel hrozný zločin na Nabotovi, preto – podľa proroctva Eliášovho (1 Kr 21) – na tom istom mieste vyhubil Jehu dom Achabov (2 Kr 9,24 – 10,11). Dynastia Jehuova, ktorá v časoch Ozeášových panovala v Severnej ríši, nebola o nič lepšia, preto sa aj jej vina volá vinou Jezraela. Prorok predpovedá zánik Jehuovho domu, čo sa splnilo, keď Selum zavraždil posledného kráľa z toho domu r. 743 (2 Kr 15,10); súčasne však predpovedá aj zánik celej Severnej ríše. Ríša zanikla v 722/21 pr. Kr. – Meno Ozeášovho syna bolo teda symbolické.

Oz 1,6-9 - Meno druhého dieťaťa znamená už pre národ stratu Božej lásky, meno tretieho rozviazanie zmluvy, ktorú Boh s Izraelom uzavrel, teda úplné zavrhnutie národa. Predpoveď v. 7, ktorý mnohí pokladajú za neskorší dodatok, splnila sa v r. 701, keď Boh zázračne zachránil Jeruzalem; pozri 2 Kr 19,34; Iz hl. 36 – 37.
