Kniha proroka Daniela

1 (KAT) V treťom roku panovania júdskeho kráľa Joakima prišiel babylonský kráľ Nabuchodonozor k Jeruzalemu a obliehal ho.
1 (VUL) Anno tertio regni Ioachim regis Iudae venit Nabuchodonosor rex Babylonis Ierusalem et obsedit eam;
1 (UKJV) In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.

2 (KAT) Pán mu vydal do ruky júdskeho kráľa Joakima a čiastku náradia Božieho domu, odniesol ich do krajiny Senaár, do domu svojho boha; nádoby zaniesol do klenotnice svojho boha.
2 (VUL) et tradidit Dominus in manu eius Ioachim regem Iudae et partem vasorum domus Dei, et asportavit ea in terram Sennaar in domum deorum suorum et vasa intulit in domum thesauri deorum suorum.
2 (UKJV) "And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god. "

3 (KAT) Vtedy povedal kráľ Asfenezovi, svojmu veliteľovi eunuchov, aby zo synov Izraela, z kráľovského potomstva a spomedzi vznešených, priviedol
3 (VUL) Et ait rex Asfanaz praeposito eunuchorum suorum, ut introduceret de filiis Israel et de semine regio et tyrannorum
3 (UKJV) "And the king spoke unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king's seed, and of the princes; "

4 (KAT) mladíkov, na ktorých niet nijakej chyby, pekného zovňajšku, vnímavých pre každú múdrosť, vystrojených znalosťami a chápavých na vedomosti, ktorí by boli schopní stáť v kráľovskom paláci; a aby ich naučil chaldejskému písmu a reči.
4 (VUL) pueros, in quibus nulla esset macula, decoros forma et eruditos omni sapientia, cautos scientia et doctos disciplina, et qui possent stare in palatio regis, et ut docerent eos litteras et linguam Chaldaeorum.
4 (UKJV) Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.

5 (KAT) Kráľ im na každý deň pridelil z kráľovského pokrmu a z vína, ktoré jemu slúžilo za nápoj, aby ich tri roky vychovávali a po ich uplynutí mali stáť pred kráľovou tvárou.
5 (VUL) Et constituit eis rex annonam per singulos dies de cibis suis et de vino, unde bibebat ipse, ut enutriti tribus annis postea starent in conspectu regis.
5 (UKJV) And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king's food, and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king.

6 (KAT) Spomedzi Júdových synov boli medzi nimi Daniel, Ananiáš, Mízael a Azariáš.
6 (VUL) Fuerunt ergo inter eos de filiis Iudae Daniel, Ananias, Misael et Azarias.
6 (UKJV) Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:

7 (KAT) Veliteľ eunuchov im dal mená: Danielovi Baltazár, Ananiášovi Sidrach, Mízaelovi Misach a Azariášovi Abdenago.
7 (VUL) Et imposuit eis praepositus eunuchorum nomina: Danieli Baltassar et Ananiae Sedrac, Misaeli Misac et Azariae Abdenago.
7 (UKJV) "Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego. "

8 (KAT) Daniel si však zaumienil v srdci, že sa nepoškvrní kráľovým pokrmom ani vínom, ktoré píjal; prosil teda veliteľa eunuchov, aby sa nemusel poškvrniť.
8 (VUL) Proposuit autem Daniel in corde suo, ne pollueretur de mensa regis neque de vino potus eius, et rogavit eunuchorum praepositum, ne contaminaretur.
8 (UKJV) But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's food, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

9 (KAT) A Boh spôsobil, že Daniel našiel milosť a priazeň u veliteľa eunuchov.
9 (VUL) Dedit autem Deus Danieli gratiam et misericordiam in conspectu principis eunuchorum;
9 (UKJV) Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.

10 (KAT) Ale veliteľ eunuchov povedal Danielovi: „Bojím sa, že môj pán, kráľ, ktorý vám vydelil váš pokrm a nápoj, uvidí, že ste v tvári chudší, ako iní chlapci, vaši vrstovníci, a uvalíte mi pred kráľom vinu na hlavu.“
10 (VUL) et ait princeps eunuchorum ad Daniel: “ Timeo ego dominum meum regem, qui constituit vobis cibum et potum; qui si viderit vultus vestros macilentiores prae ceteris adulescentibus coaevis vestris, condemnabitis caput meum regi ”.
10 (UKJV) And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who has appointed your food and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse looking than the children which are of your sort? then shall all of you make me endanger my head to the king.

11 (KAT) Vtedy Daniel povedal Malasarovi, ktorého veliteľ eunuchov postavil nad Daniela, Ananiáša, Mízaela a Azariáša:
11 (VUL) Et dixit Daniel ad custodem, quem constituerat princeps eunuchorum super Daniel, Ananiam, Misael et Azariam:
11 (UKJV) Then said Daniel to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,

12 (KAT) „Skús to so svojimi sluhami desať dní. Nech nám dajú na jedlo lúšteniny a na pitie vodu;
12 (VUL) “ Tenta nos, obsecro, servos tuos diebus decem, et dentur nobis legumina ad vescendum et aqua ad bibendum;
12 (UKJV) "Prove your servants, I plead to you, ten days; and let them give us vegetables to eat, and water to drink. "

13 (KAT) nech sa potom ukážu pred tebou naše tváre a tváre chlapcov, ktorí jedia z kráľovho pokrmu, a potom nalož so svojimi sluhami, ako sa ti bude vidieť.“
13 (VUL) et videantur in conspectu tuo vultus nostri et vultus puerorum, qui vescuntur cibo regio, et, sicut videris, facies cum servis tuis ”.
13 (UKJV) Then let our countenances be looked upon before you, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king's food: and as you see, deal with your servants.

14 (KAT) Privolil im teda v tejto veci a skúšal ich desať dní.
14 (VUL) Qui, audito sermone huiuscemodi, tentavit eos diebus decem.
14 (UKJV) So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days.

15 (KAT) Po desiatich dňoch sa ukázalo, že ich tváre sú krajšie a telá tučnejšie ako všetkých chlapcov, ktorí jedli z kráľovho pokrmu.
15 (VUL) Post dies autem decem apparuerunt vultus eorum meliores et corpulentiores prae omnibus pueris, qui vescebantur cibo regio.
15 (UKJV) And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king's food.

16 (KAT) Malasar im teda odňal pokrm a vína, ktoré mali piť, a dával im lúšteniny.
16 (VUL) Porro custos tollebat cibaria et vinum potus eorum dabatque eis legumina.
16 (UKJV) "Thus Melzar took away the portion of their food, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them vegetables. "

17 (KAT) Týmto štyrom mladíkom dal však Boh znalosť a pochop v každom písme a múdrosti. Daniel zas porozumel každé videnie a sen.
17 (VUL) Quattuor autem pueris his dedit Deus scientiam et disciplinam in omni scriptura et sapientia, Danieli autem intellegentiam omnium visionum et somniorum.
17 (UKJV) As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

18 (KAT) A po uplynutí dní, ktoré do ich predstavenia určil kráľ, predviedol ich veliteľ eunuchov pred Nabuchodonozora.
18 (VUL) Completis itaque diebus, post quos dixerat rex, ut introducerentur, introduxit eos praepositus eunuchorum in conspectu Nabuchodonosor.
18 (UKJV) Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.

19 (KAT) Kráľ sa s nimi rozprával a medzi všetkými nenašiel takých ako Daniel, Ananiáš, Mízael a Azariáš. Obsluhovali teda kráľa.
19 (VUL) Cumque locutus eis fuisset rex, non sunt inventi de universis tales ut Daniel, Ananias, Misael et Azarias; et steterunt in conspectu regis.
19 (UKJV) "And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king. "

20 (KAT) A vo všetkých veciach, (kde bolo treba) múdreho dôvtipu, na ktoré sa ich kráľ vypytoval, zistil, že sú desať ráz vyššie než všetci čarodeji a veštci, ktorí boli v celom jeho kráľovstve.
20 (VUL) Et omne verbum sapientiae et intellectus, quod sciscitatus est ab eis, rex invenit in eis decuplum super cunctos hariolos et magos, qui erant in universo regno eius.
20 (UKJV) And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.

21 (KAT) Daniel sa dožil až do prvého roku kráľa Kýra.
21 (VUL) Fuit autem Daniel usque ad annum primum Cyri regis.
21 (UKJV) And Daniel continued even unto the first year of king Cyrus.
