1 (HEM) ויהי דבר יהוה אלי לאמר׃
1 (UKJV) The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying,

2 (HEM) מה לכם אתם משלים את המשל הזה על אדמת ישראל לאמר אבות יאכלו בסר ושני הבנים תקהינה׃
2 (UKJV) What mean all of you, that all of you use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge?

3 (HEM) חי אני נאם אדני יהוה אם יהיה לכם עוד משל המשל הזה בישראל׃
3 (UKJV) As I live, says the Lord GOD, all of you shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel.

4 (HEM) הן כל הנפשות לי הנה כנפש האב וכנפש הבן לי הנה הנפש החטאת היא תמות׃
4 (UKJV) "Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sins, it shall die. "

5 (HEM) ואיש כי יהיה צדיק ועשה משפט וצדקה׃
5 (UKJV) But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right,

6 (HEM) אל ההרים לא אכל ועיניו לא נשא אל גלולי בית ישראל ואת אשת רעהו לא טמא ואל אשה נדה לא יקרב׃
6 (UKJV) And has not eaten upon the mountains, neither has lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither has defiled his neighbour's wife, neither has come near to a menstruous woman,

7 (HEM) ואיש לא יונה חבלתו חוב ישיב גזלה לא יגזל לחמו לרעב יתן ועירם יכסה בגד׃
7 (UKJV) "And has not oppressed any, but has restored to the debtor his pledge, has spoiled none by violence, has given his bread to the hungry, and has covered the naked with a garment; "

8 (HEM) בנשך לא יתן ותרבית לא יקח מעול ישיב ידו משפט אמת יעשה בין איש לאיש׃
8 (UKJV) He that has not given forth upon interest, neither has taken any increase, that has withdrawn his hand from iniquity, has executed true judgment between man and man,

9 (HEM) בחקותי יהלך ומשפטי שמר לעשות אמת צדיק הוא חיה יחיה נאם אדני יהוה׃
9 (UKJV) "Has walked in my statutes, and has kept my judgments, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live, says the Lord GOD. "

10 (HEM) והוליד בן פריץ שפך דם ועשה אח מאחד מאלה׃
10 (UKJV) If he brought forth a son that is a robber, a shedder of blood, and that does the like to any one of these things,

11 (HEM) והוא את כל אלה לא עשה כי גם אל ההרים אכל ואת אשת רעהו טמא׃
11 (UKJV) And that does not any of those duties, but even has eaten upon the mountains, and defiled his neighbour's wife,

12 (HEM) עני ואביון הונה גזלות גזל חבל לא ישיב ואל הגלולים נשא עיניו תועבה עשה׃
12 (UKJV) Has oppressed the poor and needy, has spoiled by violence, has not restored the pledge, and has lifted up his eyes to the idols, has committed abomination,

13 (HEM) בנשך נתן ותרבית לקח וחי לא יחיה את כל התועבות האלה עשה מות יומת דמיו בו יהיה׃
13 (UKJV) "Has given forth upon interest, and has taken increase: shall he then live? he shall not live: he has done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him. "

14 (HEM) והנה הוליד בן וירא את כל חטאת אביו אשר עשה וירא ולא יעשה כהן׃
14 (UKJV) Now, lo, if he brought forth a son, that sees all his father's sins which he has done, and considers, and does not such like,

15 (HEM) על ההרים לא אכל ועיניו לא נשא אל גלולי בית ישראל את אשת רעהו לא טמא׃
15 (UKJV) That has not eaten upon the mountains, neither has lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, has not defiled his neighbour's wife,

16 (HEM) ואיש לא הונה חבל לא חבל וגזלה לא גזל לחמו לרעב נתן וערום כסה בגד׃
16 (UKJV) Neither has oppressed any, has not withheld the pledge, neither has spoiled by violence, but has given his bread to the hungry, and has covered the naked with a garment,

17 (HEM) מעני השיב ידו נשך ותרבית לא לקח משפטי עשה בחקותי הלך הוא לא ימות בעון אביו חיה יחיה׃
17 (UKJV) "That has taken off his hand from the poor, that has not received interest nor increase, has executed my judgments, has walked in my statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live. "

18 (HEM) אביו כי עשק עשק גזל גזל אח ואשר לא טוב עשה בתוך עמיו והנה מת בעונו׃
18 (UKJV) As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, spoiled his brother by violence, and did that which is not good among his people, lo, even he shall die in his iniquity.

19 (HEM) ואמרתם מדע לא נשא הבן בעון האב והבן משפט וצדקה עשה את כל חקותי שמר ויעשה אתם חיה יחיה׃
19 (UKJV) Yet say all of you, Why? does not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son has done that which is lawful and right, and has kept all my statutes, and has done them, he shall surely live.

20 (HEM) הנפש החטאת היא תמות בן לא ישא בעון האב ואב לא ישא בעון הבן צדקת הצדיק עליו תהיה ורשעת רשע עליו תהיה׃
20 (UKJV) The soul that sins, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

21 (HEM) והרשע כי ישוב מכל חטאתו אשר עשה ושמר את כל חקותי ועשה משפט וצדקה חיה יחיה לא ימות׃
21 (UKJV) But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he has committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

22 (HEM) כל פשעיו אשר עשה לא יזכרו לו בצדקתו אשר עשה יחיה׃
22 (UKJV) All his transgressions that he has committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he has done he shall live.

23 (HEM) החפץ אחפץ מות רשע נאם אדני יהוה הלוא בשובו מדרכיו וחיה׃
23 (UKJV) Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? says the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?

24 (HEM) ובשוב צדיק מצדקתו ועשה עול ככל התועבות אשר עשה הרשע יעשה וחי כל צדקתו אשר עשה לא תזכרנה במעלו אשר מעל ובחטאתו אשר חטא בם ימות׃
24 (UKJV) But when the righteous turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, shall he live? All his righteousness that he has done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he has trespassed, and in his sin that he has sinned, in them shall he die.

25 (HEM) ואמרתם לא יתכן דרך אדני שמעו נא בית ישראל הדרכי לא יתכן הלא דרכיכם לא יתכנו׃
25 (UKJV) "Yet all of you say, The way of the LORD is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal? "

26 (HEM) בשוב צדיק מצדקתו ועשה עול ומת עליהם בעולו אשר עשה ימות׃
26 (UKJV) "When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and dies in them; for his iniquity that he has done shall he die. "

27 (HEM) ובשוב רשע מרשעתו אשר עשה ויעש משפט וצדקה הוא את נפשו יחיה׃
27 (UKJV) Again, when the wicked man turns away from his wickedness that he has committed, and does that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.

28 (HEM) ויראה וישוב מכל פשעיו אשר עשה חיו יחיה לא ימות׃
28 (UKJV) Because he considers, and turns away from all his transgressions that he has committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

29 (HEM) ואמרו בית ישראל לא יתכן דרך אדני הדרכי לא יתכנו בית ישראל הלא דרכיכם לא יתכן׃
29 (UKJV) Yet says the house of Israel, The way of the LORD is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal?

30 (HEM) לכן איש כדרכיו אשפט אתכם בית ישראל נאם אדני יהוה שובו והשיבו מכל פשעיכם ולא יהיה לכם למכשול עון׃
30 (UKJV) "Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, says the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. "

31 (HEM) השליכו מעליכם את כל פשעיכם אשר פשעתם בם ועשו לכם לב חדש ורוח חדשה ולמה תמתו בית ישראל׃
31 (UKJV) "Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby all of you have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will all of you die, O house of Israel? "

32 (HEM) כי לא אחפץ במות המת נאם אדני יהוה והשיבו וחיו׃
32 (UKJV) For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dies, says the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live all of you.
