Kniha proroka Ezechiela

1 (CPDV) And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
1 (ROH) A stalo sa slovo Hospodinovo ku mne povediac:

2 (CPDV) “Son of man, what can be made from the stalk of a vine, compared to all the plants of the woods that are among the trees of the forests?
2 (ROH) Synu človeka, čo je viac drevo viniča než ktorékoľvek iné drevo? Čo jeho letorast, ktorý bol medzi stromami lesa?

3 (CPDV) Can any wood be taken from it, so that it may be made into a work, or formed into a peg so as to hang some kind of vessel upon it?
3 (ROH) Či sa vezme z neho drevo spraviť nejakú prácu? Či azda vezmú z neho klin zavesiť naň nejaký riad, akýkoľvek?

4 (CPDV) Behold, it is used in the fire as fuel. The fire consumes both its ends; and its middle is reduced to ashes. So how can it be useful for any work?
4 (ROH) Hľa, dáva sa na oheň, aby ho strávil. Oheň strávil oba jeho konce, a jeho prostredok ohorel, či sa hodí na nejakú prácu?

5 (CPDV) Even when it was whole, it was unsuitable for a work. How much more so, when fire has devoured it and burned it up, will nothing of it be useful?
5 (ROH) Hľa, keď bolo neporušené, nespravila sa z neho práca, čím menej potom, keď ho strávil oheň, alebo keď ohorelo, spraví sa ešte z neho nejaká práca!

6 (CPDV) Therefore, thus says the Lord God: Like the stalk of the vine among the trees of the forests, which I have given to be devoured by fire, so will I deliver the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
6 (ROH) Preto takto hovorí Pán Hospodin: Ako drevo viniča medzi drevom lesa, ktoré som oddal ohňu, aby ho strávil, tak som oddal obyvateľov Jeruzalema.

7 (CPDV) And I will set my face against them. They will go away from fire, and yet fire will consume them. And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I will have set my face against them,
7 (ROH) A obrátim svoju tvár proti nim; z jedného ohňa vyšli, a druhý oheň ich strávi, a zviete, že ja som Hospodin, keď postavím svoju tvár proti nim.

8 (CPDV) and when I will have made their land impassable and desolate. For they have stood forth as transgressors, says the Lord God.”
8 (ROH) A obrátim zem na pustinu, pretože sa dopúšťali nevernosti, hovorí Pán Hospodin.
