1 (HEM) איכה ישבה בדד העיר רבתי עם היתה כאלמנה רבתי בגוים שרתי במדינות היתה למס׃
1 (UKJV) How does the city sit solitary, that was full of people! how is she become as a widow! she that was great among the nations, and princess among the provinces, how is she become tributary!

2 (HEM) בכו תבכה בלילה ודמעתה על לחיה אין לה מנחם מכל אהביה כל רעיה בגדו בה היו לה לאיבים׃
2 (UKJV) She weeps sore in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks: among all her lovers she has none to comfort her: all her friends have dealt treacherously with her, they are become her enemies.

3 (HEM) גלתה יהודה מעני ומרב עבדה היא ישבה בגוים לא מצאה מנוח כל רדפיה השיגוה בין המצרים׃
3 (UKJV) Judah is gone into captivity because of affliction, and because of great servitude: she dwells among the heathen, she finds no rest: all her persecutors overtook her between the straits.

4 (HEM) דרכי ציון אבלות מבלי באי מועד כל שעריה שוממין כהניה נאנחים בתולתיה נוגות והיא מר לה׃
4 (UKJV) The ways of Zion do mourn, because none come to the solemn feasts: all her gates are desolate: her priests sigh, her virgins are afflicted, and she is in bitterness.

5 (HEM) היו צריה לראש איביה שלו כי יהוה הוגה על רב פשעיה עולליה הלכו שבי לפני צר׃
5 (UKJV) "Her adversaries are the chief, her enemies prosper; for the LORD has afflicted her for the multitude of her transgressions: her children are gone into captivity before the enemy. "

6 (HEM) ויצא מן בת ציון כל הדרה היו שריה כאילים לא מצאו מרעה וילכו בלא כח לפני רודף׃
6 (UKJV) And from the daughter of Zion all her beauty is departed: her princes are become like harts that find no pasture, and they are gone without strength before the pursuer.

7 (HEM) זכרה ירושלם ימי עניה ומרודיה כל מחמדיה אשר היו מימי קדם בנפל עמה ביד צר ואין עוזר לה ראוה צרים שחקו על משבתה׃
7 (UKJV) Jerusalem remembered in the days of her affliction and of her miseries all her pleasant things that she had in the days of old, when her people fell into the hand of the enemy, and none did help her: the adversaries saw her, and did mock at her sabbaths.

8 (HEM) חטא חטאה ירושלם על כן לנידה היתה כל מכבדיה הזילוה כי ראו ערותה גם היא נאנחה ותשב אחור׃
8 (UKJV) "Jerusalem has grievously sinned; therefore she is removed: all that honoured her despise her, because they have seen her nakedness: yea, she sighs, and turns backward. "

9 (HEM) טמאתה בשוליה לא זכרה אחריתה ותרד פלאים אין מנחם לה ראה יהוה את עניי כי הגדיל אויב׃
9 (UKJV) "Her filthiness is in her skirts; she remembers not her last end; therefore she came down wonderfully: she had no comforter. O LORD, behold my affliction: for the enemy has magnified himself. "

10 (HEM) ידו פרש צר על כל מחמדיה כי ראתה גוים באו מקדשה אשר צויתה לא יבאו בקהל לך׃
10 (UKJV) The adversary has spread out his hand upon all her pleasant things: for she has seen that the heathen entered into her sanctuary, whom you did command that they should not enter into your congregation.

11 (HEM) כל עמה נאנחים מבקשים לחם נתנו מחמודיהם באכל להשיב נפש ראה יהוה והביטה כי הייתי זוללה׃
11 (UKJV) "All her people sigh, they seek bread; they have given their pleasant things for food to relieve the soul: see, O LORD, and consider; for I am become vile. "

12 (HEM) לוא אליכם כל עברי דרך הביטו וראו אם יש מכאוב כמכאבי אשר עולל לי אשר הוגה יהוה ביום חרון אפו׃
12 (UKJV) Is it nothing to you, all you that pass by? behold, and see if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow, which is done unto me, wherewith the LORD has afflicted me in the day of his fierce anger.

13 (HEM) ממרום שלח אש בעצמתי וירדנה פרש רשת לרגלי השיבני אחור נתנני שממה כל היום דוה׃
13 (UKJV) From above has he sent fire into my bones, and it prevails against them: he has spread a net for my feet, he has turned me back: he has made me desolate and faint all the day.

14 (HEM) נשקד על פשעי בידו ישתרגו עלו על צוארי הכשיל כחי נתנני אדני בידי לא אוכל קום׃
14 (UKJV) The yoke of my transgressions is bound by his hand: they are wreathed, and come up upon my neck: he has made my strength to fall, the LORD has delivered me into their hands, from whom I am not able to rise up.

15 (HEM) סלה כל אבירי אדני בקרבי קרא עלי מועד לשבר בחורי גת דרך אדני לבתולת בת יהודה׃
15 (UKJV) The LORD has trodden under foot all my mighty men in the midst of me: he has called an assembly against me to crush my young men: the LORD has trodden the virgin, the daughter of Judah, as in a winepress.

16 (HEM) על אלה אני בוכיה עיני עיני ירדה מים כי רחק ממני מנחם משיב נפשי היו בני שוממים כי גבר אויב׃
16 (UKJV) "For these things I weep; mine eye, mine eye runs down with water, because the comforter that should relieve my soul is far from me: my children are desolate, because the enemy prevailed. "

17 (HEM) פרשה ציון בידיה אין מנחם לה צוה יהוה ליעקב סביביו צריו היתה ירושלם לנדה ביניהם׃
17 (UKJV) Zion spreads forth her hands, and there is none to comfort her: the LORD has commanded concerning Jacob, that his adversaries should be round about him: Jerusalem is as a menstruous woman among them.

18 (HEM) צדיק הוא יהוה כי פיהו מריתי שמעו נא כל עמים וראו מכאבי בתולתי ובחורי הלכו בשבי׃
18 (UKJV) "The LORD is righteous; for I have rebelled against his commandment: hear, I pray you, all people, and behold my sorrow: my virgins and my young men are gone into captivity. "

19 (HEM) קראתי למאהבי המה רמוני כהני וזקני בעיר גועו כי בקשו אכל למו וישיבו את נפשם׃
19 (UKJV) I called for my lovers, but they deceived me: my priests and mine elders gave up the spirit in the city, while they sought their food to relieve their souls.

20 (HEM) ראה יהוה כי צר לי מעי חמרמרו נהפך לבי בקרבי כי מרו מריתי מחוץ שכלה חרב בבית כמות׃
20 (UKJV) "Behold, O LORD; for I am in distress: my bowels are troubled; mine heart is turned within me; for I have grievously rebelled: abroad the sword bereaves, at home there is as death. "

21 (HEM) שמעו כי נאנחה אני אין מנחם לי כל איבי שמעו רעתי ששו כי אתה עשית הבאת יום קראת ויהיו כמוני׃
21 (UKJV) "They have heard that I sigh: there is none to comfort me: all mine enemies have heard of my trouble; they are glad that you have done it: you will bring the day that you have called, and they shall be like unto me. "

22 (HEM) תבא כל רעתם לפניך ועולל למו כאשר עוללת לי על כל פשעי כי רבות אנחתי ולבי דוי׃
22 (UKJV) "Let all their wickedness come before you; and do unto them, as you have done unto me for all my transgressions: for my sighs are many, and my heart is faint. "
