And the corpses of this people will be food for the birds of the air and for the wild beasts of the land, and there will be no one to drive them away.

And from the cities of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem, I will cause the cessation of the voice of gladness and the voice of rejoicing, the voice of the groom and the voice of the bride. For the land will be in utter desolation.”

Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Make your ways and your intentions good, and I will live with you in this place.

Jer 18:11 - Now, therefore, speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying: Thus says the Lord: Behold, I am forming an evil against you, and I am considering a plan against you. Let each one of you return from his evil way, and direct your ways and your intentions well.”
Jer 26:13 - Now, therefore, make your ways and your intentions good, and heed the voice of the Lord your God. And then the Lord will repent of the evil that he has spoken against you.

Iz 10:1 - Woe to those who make unfair laws, and who, when writing, write injustice:
Iz 59:7 - Their feet run to evil, and they rush to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are useless thoughts; devastation and destruction are in their ways.

So then, has this house, where my name has been invoked, become a den of robbers in your eyes? It is I, I am, I have seen, says the Lord.

Jer 11:14 - Therefore, you should not choose to pray for this people, and you should not take up praise and petitioning on their behalf. For I will not heed them in the time of their outcry to me, in the time of their affliction.
Jer 14:11 - And the Lord said to me: “Do not choose to pray for this people for good.

The sons gather the wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the wives spread the grease, so as to make cakes to the queen of heaven and to offer libations to strange gods, and so as to provoke me to anger.
Jer 44:19 - But when we offer sacrifice to the queen of heaven and pour out libations to her, do we make cakes for her worship and offer libations to her without our husbands?”
Iz 65:11 - And you who have forsaken the Lord, who have forgotten my holy mountain, who set a table for Fortune, and who offer libations concerning her:

But are they provoking me to anger, says the Lord? Are they not provoking themselves, to the confusion of their own faces?”

Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: “Add your holocausts to your sacrifices, and eat 431 the flesh.
Iz 1:11 - The 398 multitude of your sacrifices, what is that to me, says the Lord? I am full. I do not desire holocausts of rams, nor the fat of fatlings, nor the blood of calves and of lambs and of he-goats.
Jer 6:20 - For what reason are you bringing me frankincense from Sheba, and sweet smelling reeds from a far away land? Your holocausts are not acceptable, and your sacrifices are not pleasing to me.”
Am 5:21 - I hate and have rejected your feasts; and I will not accept the odor from your gatherings.

But on this matter I did instruct them, saying: Listen to my voice, and I will be your God, and you will be my people. And walk in the entire way that I have commanded you, so that it may be well with you.

But they did not listen, nor did they incline their ear. Instead, they walked by their own will and in the depravity of their own wicked heart. And so, they went backward, and not forward,
Jer 3:17 - In that time, Jerusalem will be called: ‘The Throne of the Lord.’ And all the nations will be gathered to it, in the name of the Lord, in Jerusalem. And they will not walk after the depravity of their own most wicked heart.
Jer 16:12 - But you have acted even worse than your fathers. For behold, each one walks after the depravity of his own evil heart, so that he does not listen to me.

But they have not listened to me, nor have they inclined their ear. Instead, they have stiffened their neck, and they have behaved worse than their fathers did.

And they hardened their necks, and they offered their head, so that they would return to their servitude, as if in contention. But you, a forgiving God, lenient and merciful, longsuffering and full of compassion, did not abandon them.

Yet truly, they acted in arrogance, and they did not listen to your commandments, and they sinned against your judgments, which, if a man does them, he shall live by them. And they withdrew from offering their shoulder, and they hardened their neck; neither would they listen.
Jer 17:23 - But they did not listen, nor did they incline their ear. Instead, they hardened their neck, lest they listen to me and receive discipline.
Jer 19:15 - “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will lead over this community, and over all its cities, all the evils that I have spoken against it. For they have hardened their necks, so that they would not heed my words.”

And you will say to them: This is the nation that has not listened to the voice of the Lord their God, nor accepted discipline. Faith has perished and been taken away from their mouth.
Jer 5:3 - O Lord, your eyes look with favor upon faith. You have struck them, and they have not grieved. You have bruised them, and they have refused to accept discipline. They have hardened their faces more than rock, and they are not willing to return.
Jer 5:1 - “Travel the streets of Jerusalem; and gaze, and consider, and seek, in its wide streets. If you can find a man exercising judgment and seeking faith, then I will be forgiving to them.

Cut off your hair, and cast it away. And take up a lamentation on high. For the Lord has cast aside and abandoned this generation of his fury.

Iz 15:2 - The house has ascended with Dibon to the heights, in mourning over Nebo and over Medeba. Moab has wailed. There will be baldness on all of their heads, and every beard will be shaven.
Jer 16:6 - Both the great and the small will die in this land. They will not be buried, and they will not be mourned. And no one will cut themselves or make themselves bald on their behalf.

And they have built the exalted places of Topheth, which is in the Valley of the son of Hinnom, so that they may burn their sons and their daughters with fire, something I neither instructed, nor thought in my heart.
2Kr 23:10 - Also, he defiled Topheth, which is in the steep valley of the son of Hinnom, so that no one would consecrate his son or his daughter, through fire, to Molech.
Jer 2:23 - How can you say: ‘I have not been polluted. I have not walked after Baal?’ Consider your ways in the steep valley. Acknowledge what you have done, so that you may be like a swift runner, following his course.
Jer 19:5 - And they have built the exalted places of Baal, in order to burn their children with fire as a holocaust to Baal, something that I did not instruct or speak of, nor did it enter into my heart.
Jer 7,4 - Národ sa ubezpečoval, že sa mu nič nemôže stať, lebo Pán, ktorý býva medzi nimi v chráme, nemôže dopustiť pohromu, v ktorej by zahynul aj chrám. Prorok z rozkazu Božieho podvracia túto márnu nádej.
Jer 7,11 - Porov. Mt 21,13.
Jer 7,12 - Po príchode národa do zasľúbenej zeme, najmä v dobe sudcov, bol svätostánok Pánov v Šílo, na území najsilnejšieho izraelského kmeňa Efraim. Pre zločiny Izraelitov tento stánok zahynul.
Jer 7,18 - "Kráľovná nebies" bola asi Aštarta, bohyňa lásky a úrodnosti, ktorú Kanaánci a s nimi aj Izraeliti uctievali spolu s Bálom, ktorého zas volali "kráľom neba".
Jer 7,21 - Izraeliti spoliehali sa aj na obety, ktoré v chráme veľmi horlivo konali. Boli to však obety bezduché (porov. 6,20 n.), bolo to teda len mäso, a nie bohoslužobný úkon.
Jer 7,22 - Pri východe z Egypta žiadal Boh poslušnosť (Ex 19,5). Obety, ktoré Boh krátko potom tiež prikázal, mali byť len vonkajším znakom poslušného a obetavého ducha, bez ktorého nemajú ceny (porov. Am 5,21 n.; Oz 6,6; Iz 1,11 n.; Mich 6,6-8).
Jer 7,29 - Vlasy boli ozdobou mužov a hlavne žien. Ostrihali si ich, len keď mali smútok.
Jer 7,30 - Za časov kráľovských postavili Izraeliti viac ráz modly, "ohavnosti", do chrámu Pánovho (porov. napr. 2 Kr 21,4).
Jer 7,31 - Pozri pozn. k Iz 30,33 a porov. Dt 12,31; Iz 57,5; Ez 16,20.36; 23,37-39; Ž 106,38 a Jer 19,6; 32,35.
Jer 7,32 - Tam, kde vraždili svoje deti, bude nepriateľ vraždiť ich, preto sa údolie Hinom smelo bude môcť volať údolím vraždenia. Hrobky nebudú stačiť a budú pochovávať v Tofete, čo bude pre túto pohanskú svätyňu veľká potupa.
Jer 7,33 - Mnoho mŕtvol i tak ešte ostane nepochovaných, čo je pre mŕtveho veľkým zneuctením.
