1 (CPDV) Against the sons of Ammon. Thus says the Lord: “Does Israel have no sons? Or is there no heir for him? Then why has Milcom possessed the inheritance of Gad, and why have his people lived in his cities?
1 (ROH) Čo do synov Ammonových. Takto hovorí Hospodin: Či nemá Izrael synov? Či azda nemá dediča? Prečo potom vládne ich Moloch dedične Gádom? A prečo býva jeho ľud v jeho mestách?
2 (CPDV) Therefore, behold, the days are approaching, says the Lord, when I will cause the noise of battle to be heard over Rabbah of the sons of Ammon. And it will be scattered into a tumult, and her daughters will be burned with fire. And Israel shall possess those who had possessed him, says the Lord.
2 (ROH) Preto hľa, idú dni, hovorí Hospodin, že spôsobím to, aby bolo počuť proti Rabbe synov Ammonových surmu vojny, a bude z nej pustý kopec, a jej dcéry, mestá, budú vypálené ohňom, a Izrael bude dedične vládnuť tými, ktorí ním vládli, hovorí Hospodin.
3 (CPDV) Wail, O Heshbon! For Ai has been devastated. Cry out, O daughters of Rabbah! Wrap yourselves with haircloth. Mourn and circle the hedges. For Milcom will be led into the transmigration: his priests and his leaders together.
3 (ROH) Kvíľ, ó, Chešbone, lebo spustošené bude Aj! Kričte, dcéry Rabby, opášte si smútočné vrece, nariekajte a behajte sem-tam medzi plotami; lebo ich Moloch pojde do zajatia, jeho kňazi i jeho kniežatá spolu.
4 (CPDV) Why have you gloried in the valleys? Your valley has flowed away, O delicate daughter, for you had confidence in your treasures, and you were saying, ‘Who can approach me?’
4 (ROH) Čo sa chváliš údoliami? Tvoje údolie sa rozplynie, ty odvrátená dcéro spurná, ktorá sa nadeješ na svoje poklady a hovoríš: Kto prijde sem ku mne!
5 (CPDV) Behold, I will lead a terror over you, says the Lord, the God of hosts, from those who are all around you. And you will be dispersed, each one from before your sight. There will be no one who will gather together those who are fleeing.
5 (ROH) Hľa, uvediem na teba strach, hovorí Pán Hospodin Zástupov, od všetkých vôkol teba, a budete hnaní každý priamo pred seba, a nebude nikoho, kto by shromaždil potulujúcich sa.
6 (CPDV) And after this, I will cause the captives of the sons of Ammon to return, says the Lord.”
6 (ROH) Ale potom navrátim zajatie synov Ammonových, hovorí Hospodin.
7 (CPDV) Against Idumea. Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Is there no longer any wisdom in Teman? Counsel has perished from the sons. Their wisdom has become useless.
7 (ROH) Čo do Edoma. Takto hovorí Hospodin Zástupov: Či už niet múdrosti v Témane? Či zahynula rada od rozumných? Či sa ich múdrosť zosmradila a pokazila?
8 (CPDV) Flee and turn your backs! Descend into the chasm, O inhabitants of Dedan! For I have brought the perdition of Esau over him, the time of his visitation.
8 (ROH) Utekajte, obráťte sa! Hlboko sadnú obyvatelia Dedána! Lebo nešťastie Ezavovo uvediem na neho; bude to čas, v ktorom ho navštívim.
9 (CPDV) If those who gather grapes had passed by you, would they not have left behind a cluster? If there were thieves in the night, they would seize what was enough for themselves.
9 (ROH) Keď ti prijdú oberači, azda nezanechajú paberkov? ak zlodeji vnoci, zkazia iba toľko, čo im je dosť.
10 (CPDV) Yet truly, I have stripped Esau bare. I have revealed his secrets, and he is not able to be concealed. His offspring has been devastated, with his brothers and his neighbors, and he himself will not exist.
10 (ROH) Ale ja obnažím Ezava, odkryjem jeho tajnosti, a nebude sa môcť ukryť. Spustošené bude jeho semä, i jeho bratia i jeho súsedia, a nebude ho, kto by povedal:
11 (CPDV) Leave behind your orphans. I will make sure that they live. And your widows will hope in me.”
11 (ROH) Zanechaj svoje siroty, ja ich budem živiť, a tvoje vdovy nech sa nadejú na mňa.
12 (CPDV) For thus says the Lord: “Behold, those who judged that they would not drink the cup, will certainly drink. And so, will you be released as if you were innocent? You will not be released as if innocent. Instead, you shall certainly drink.
12 (ROH) Lebo takto hovorí Hospodin: Hľa, tí, ktorí nepíjavajú kalicha, budú istotne piť, a hojne, a ty, ty by si mal byť bez trestu? Nebudeš bez trestu, ale istotne budeš piť.
13 (CPDV) For I have sworn by myself, says the Lord, that Bozrah will be a desolation, and a disgrace, and a wasteland, and a curse. And all her cities will be a perpetual wilderness.
13 (ROH) Lebo na seba prisahám, hovorí Hospodin, že pustinou, potupou, púšťou a kliatbou bude mesto Bocra, a všetky jeho mestá budú večnou púšťou.
14 (CPDV) I have heard a report from the Lord, and an legate has been sent to the nations: ‘Gather yourselves together, and go forth against her, and let us rise up to battle.’
14 (ROH) Počul som zvesť od Hospodina, a posol je poslaný k národom: Shromaždite sa a prijdite proti nemu! A vstaňte do boja!
15 (CPDV) For behold, I have made you little among the nations, contemptible among men.
15 (ROH) Lebo hľa, dal som ťa za malého medzi národami, opovrženého medzi ľuďmi.
16 (CPDV) Your arrogance has deceived you, by the pride of your heart, you who live in the caverns of the rock and who strive to take hold of the height of the hill. But even if you make your nest like that of an eagle, I will pull you down from there, says the Lord. 456
16 (ROH) To, že si hrozný? Oklamala ťa pýcha tvojho srdca, ty, ktorý bývaš v rozsadlinách skaly, ktorý držíš výšu brehu. Keby si si vysoko spravil svoje hniezdo jako orol, aj odtiaľ ťa strhnem, hovorí Hospodin.
17 (CPDV) And Idumea will be a desert. Everyone who passes by it will be stupefied and will hiss over all its wounds.
17 (ROH) A tak bude Edom pustinou. Každý, kto pojde popri ňom, zdesí sa a zhíkne nad všetkými jeho údermi.
18 (CPDV) Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighbors were overthrown, says the Lord: there will not be a man living there, and no son of man will tend it.
18 (ROH) A bude to jako podvrátenie Sodomy a Gomory a jej súsedov, hovorí Hospodin: nikto tam nebude bývať, ani v ňom nebude pohostíniť syn človeka.
19 (CPDV) Behold, he will ascend like a lion from the arrogance of the Jordan, against the robust beauty. For I will cause him to rush against her suddenly. And who will be the elect one, whom I may appoint over her? For who is like me? And who can endure me? And who is that pastor who can withstand my countenance?
19 (ROH) Hľa, pojde hore jako lev od dôstojnosti Jordána, hore proti pevnému bydlisku. Ale ho náhle pohnem na útek s neho a toho, kto je vyvolený, ustanovím nad ním. Lebo kto je mne rovný? A kto mi stanoví deň, pravotiť sa so mnou? Alebo kde kto je ten pastier, ktorý by sa postavil predo mnou?
20 (CPDV) Because of this, listen to the counsel of the Lord, which he has undertaken concerning Edom, and to his thoughts, which he has devised concerning the inhabitants of Teman. Certainly, the little ones of the flock will cast them down, unless they scatter them with their habitation.
20 (ROH) Preto počujte radu Hospodinovu, ktorú uradil proti Edomovi, a jeho myšlienky, ktoré si umyslel proti obyvateľom Témana: Istotne ich rozvláčia maličkí stáda; istotne spolu s nimi spustošia aj ich bydlisko.
21 (CPDV) The earth has been shaken at the noise of their destruction. The outcry of their voice has been heard at the Red Sea.
21 (ROH) Od hrmotu ich pádu zatrasie sa zem. Krik! Jeho hlas bude sa čuť pri Červenom mori.
22 (CPDV) Behold, he will ascend like an eagle and will fly. And he will spread his wings over Bozrah. And in that day, the heart of the strong ones of Idumea will be like the heart of a woman giving birth.”
22 (ROH) Hľa, bude vystupovať hore jako orol a poletí, roztiahne svoje krýdla nad Bocrou. A srdce udatných mužov Edomových bude toho dňa jako srdce ženy, sovrenej úzkosťami porodu.
23 (CPDV) Against Damascus. “Hamath has been confounded, with Arpad. For they have heard a most grievous report. They have been stirred up like the sea. Because of anxiousness, they were not able to rest.
23 (ROH) Čo do Damašku. Chamat sa bude hanbiť aj Arpad, lebo počujú zlú zvesť; rozplynú sa; na mori strach; nebude sa môcť upokojiť.
24 (CPDV) Damascus has been broken. She has been turned to flight. Trembling has taken hold of her. Anguish and sorrows have seized her, like a woman giving birth.
24 (ROH) Damašek zmalátnie, obráti sa na útek, hrôza ho pochytí, úzkosť a bolesti ho zachvátia ako ženu, ktorá ide porodiť.
25 (CPDV) How could they have abandoned the praiseworthy city, the city of rejoicing?
25 (ROH) Ako by nemalo byť opustené mesto chlúby, mesto mojej radosti?!
26 (CPDV) For this reason, her young men will fall in her streets. And all the men of battle will be silenced in that day, says the Lord of hosts.
26 (ROH) Preto padnú jeho mládenci na jeho uliciach a všetci bojovní mužovia umĺknu toho dňa, hovorí Hospodin Zástupov.
27 (CPDV) And I will kindle a fire at the wall of Damascus, and it will devour the defensive walls of Ben-hadad.”
27 (ROH) A zapálim oheň na múre Damašku, ktorý požerie paláce Benhadadove.
28 (CPDV) Against Kedar and against the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, has struck down. Thus says the Lord: “Rise up and ascend to Kedar, and lay waste to the sons of the East.
28 (ROH) Čo do Kédara a čo do kráľovstiev Chácora, ktoré potom zbil Nabuchodonozor, babylonský kráľ. Takto hovorí Hospodin: Vstaňte, iďte hore proti Kédarovi a spustošte synov východu!
29 (CPDV) They will seize their tabernacles and their flocks. And they will take for themselves their tents, and all their vessels, and their camels. And they will call down a terror upon them on every side.
29 (ROH) Vezmú ich stány aj ich stádo; ich čalúny a všetko ich náradie aj ich veľblúdov poberú sebe a budú volať na nich: Strach všade naokolo!
30 (CPDV) Flee, go away urgently! Sit in deep pits, you who inhabit Hazor, says the Lord. For Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, has undertaken a counsel against you, and he has devised plans against you.
30 (ROH) Utekajte, bežte, čo môžete! Hlboko sadnú obyvatelia Chácora! hovorí Hospodin. Lebo Nabuchodonozor, babylonský kráľ, uradil proti vám radu, a umyslel proti nim zhubnú myšlienku.
31 (CPDV) Rise up, and ascend to a nation that is quiet and lives in confidence, says the Lord. They have neither gates nor bars. They dwell alone.
31 (ROH) Vstaňte, iďte hore proti národu, ktorý žije bez starostí a v pokoji, ktorý býva bezpečne! hovorí Hospodin. Nemá vrát ani závory; bývajú samotní.
32 (CPDV) And their camels will be a spoil, and the multitude of their cattle will be a prey. And I will disperse, into every wind, those who have shaved their hair. And from all their confines, I will lead great destruction over them, says the Lord.
32 (ROH) A tak budú ich veľblúdi za lúpež a množstvo ich dobytka za korisť, a rozptýlim ich vo všetky vetry, obrezaných po strane, a zo všetkých strán uvediem na nich ich zkazu, hovorí Hospodin.
33 (CPDV) And Hazor will be a habitation for serpents, deserted even unto eternity. No man will abide there, nor will a son of man tend it.”
33 (ROH) A Chácor bude príbytkom šakalov, desnou pustinou až na veky. Nikto tam nebude bývať, ani v ňom nebude pohostíniť syn človeka.
34 (CPDV) The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah, the king of Judah, saying:
34 (ROH) Slovo Hospodinovo, ktoré sa stalo k prorokovi Jeremiášovi proti Élamovi na počiatku kraľovania Cedekiáša, judského kráľa, povediac:
35 (CPDV) “Thus says the Lord of hosts: Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, and the summit of their strength.
35 (ROH) Takto hovorí Hospodin Zástupov: Hľa, polámem lučište Élamovo, prvotinu ich sily.
36 (CPDV) And I will lead the four winds over Elam, from the four corners of heaven. And I will scatter them into all these winds. And there will be no nation to which the fugitives of Elam will not travel.
36 (ROH) A dovediem proti Élamovi štyri vetry od štyroch koncov neba a rozptýlim ich vo všetky tie vetry, takže nebude národa, kam by neprišiel niekto zo zahnaných Élamových.
37 (CPDV) And I will cause Elam to be terrified before their enemies and in the sight of those who seek their life. And I will lead an evil over them, the wrath of my fury, says the Lord. And I will send the sword after them, until I consume them.
37 (ROH) A predesím Élamitov pred ich nepriateľmi a pred tými, ktorí hľadajú ich dušu, a uvediem na nich zlé, páľu svojeho hnevu, hovorí Hospodin. A pošlem za nimi meč a tak ich budem hubiť, dokiaľ im neučiním konca.
38 (CPDV) And I will set my throne in Elam, and I will perish the kings and princes from there, says the Lord.
38 (ROH) A postavím svoj trón v Élame a vyhubím odtiaľ kráľa i kniežatá, hovorí Hospodin.
39 (CPDV) But in the last days, I will cause the captives of Elam to return, says the Lord.”
39 (ROH) Ale stane sa v posledných dňoch, že navrátim zajatých Élamových, hovorí Hospodin.

Verš 32
And their camels will be a spoil, and the multitude of their cattle will be a prey. And I will disperse, into every wind, those who have shaved their hair. And from all their confines, I will lead great destruction over them, says the Lord.
Jer 9:26 - upon Egypt, and upon Judah, and upon Edom, and upon the sons of Ammon, and upon Moab, and upon all who have shaved off their hair, living in the desert. For all the nations are uncircumcised in body, but all the house of Israel is uncircumcised in heart.”

Against the sons of Ammon. Thus says the Lord: “Does Israel have no sons? Or is there no heir for him? Then why has Milcom possessed the inheritance of Gad, and why have his people lived in his cities?
Am 1:13 - Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of the sons of Ammon, and for four, I will not convert him, in so far as he has cut up the pregnant women of Gilead, so as to expand his limits.

Am 1:14 - And I will ignite a fire on the wall of Rabbah. And it will devour its buildings, with wailing on the day of war, and with a whirlwind on the day of commotion.

And Hazor will be a habitation for serpents, deserted even unto eternity. No man will abide there, nor will a son of man tend it.”
Jer 9:11 - And I will make Jerusalem into piles of sand and into a lair for serpents. And I will make the cities of Judah desolate, so much so that there will be no inhabitant.
Jer 10:22 - Behold, the sound of a voice approaches, a great commotion from the land of the north: so that he may make the cities of Judah into a wilderness and into a dwelling place for serpents.

Abd 1:8 - Shall I not, in that day, says the Lord, wipe away understanding from Idumea and foresight from the mount of Esau?

Flee and turn your backs! Descend into the chasm, O inhabitants of Dedan! For I have brought the perdition of Esau over him, the time of his visitation.
Jer 25:23 - and Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all those who have shaved off their hair,

But in the last days, I will cause the captives of Elam to return, says the Lord.”
Jer 48:47 - But I will convert the captivity of Moab in the last days, says the Lord.” Such are the judgments of Moab thus far.

I have heard a report from the Lord, and an legate has been sent to the nations: ‘Gather yourselves together, and go forth against her, and let us rise up to battle.’
Abd 1:1 - The vision of Obadiah. Thus says the Lord God to Edom: We have heard a report from the Lord, and he has sent an envoy to the nations: “Arise, and let us together rise up in battle against him.”

Your arrogance has deceived you, by the pride of your heart, you who live in the caverns of the rock and who strive to take hold of the height of the hill. But even if you make your nest like that of an eagle, I will pull you down from there, says the Lord. 456
Jer 48:29 - We have listened to the arrogance of Moab; he is very proud: his exaltation, and arrogance, and pride, and the loftiness of his heart.
Abd 1:4 - Though you have been lifted high like an eagle, and though you have placed your nest among the stars, from there I will pull you down, says the Lord.

And Idumea will be a desert. Everyone who passes by it will be stupefied and will hiss over all its wounds.
Jer 50:13 - By the wrath of the Lord, it will not be inhabited. Instead, it will be entirely desolate. Every one who passes by Babylon will be stupefied and will hiss over all her wounds.
Verš 18
Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighbors were overthrown, says the Lord: there will not be a man living there, and no son of man will tend it.
Gn 19:25 - And he overturned these cities, and all the surrounding region: all the inhabitants of the cities, and everything that springs from the land.
Jer 50:40 - Just as the Lord overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and their neighboring towns, says the Lord, no man will live there, and a son of man will not tend it.
Am 4:11 - I overturned you, just as God overturned Sodom and Gomorrah, and you became like an ember seized from the fire. And you did not return to me, says the Lord.

Jób 41:10 - Lamps proceed from his mouth, like torches of fire burning brightly.
Jer 50:44 - Behold, he will ascend like a lion from the arrogance of the Jordan to the robust beauty. For I will cause him to rush upon her suddenly. Jer 48:41 - Kerioth has been captured, and the fortifications have been taken. And in that day, the heart of the strong ones of Moab will be like the heart of a woman giving birth.

Iz 17:1 - The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus will cease to be a city, and it will be like a heap of stones in ruin.

Jer 4:31 - For I have heard a voice, like that of a woman giving birth, during the difficulties of labor. It is the voice of the daughter of Zion, dying, extending her hands: ‘Woe to me! For my soul is failing because of those who have been slain!’ ”
Jer 6:24 - ‘We have heard of their fame. Our hands have become weakened. Tribulation has overtaken us, like the pains of a woman giving birth.’
Jer 30:6 - Inquire and see, does a male give birth? Then why have I seen every man with his hand on his lower back, like a woman bearing a child? And why have all of their faces turned pale?

And I will kindle a fire at the wall of Damascus, and it will devour the defensive walls of Ben-hadad.”
Am 1:4 - And I will send fire onto the house of Hazael, and it will devour the houses of Ben-hadad.
Am 1:14 - And I will ignite a fire on the wall of Rabbah. And it will devour its buildings, with wailing on the day of war, and with a whirlwind on the day of commotion.
Jer 49,1 - Melchom bol hlavný boh Amončanov a spomína sa tu miesto svojho národa. Amončanom sa vyčíta, že zaujali územie izraelského kmeňa Gadovho. Postupne sa, pravda, Amončania zmocňovali aj územia ďalších zajordánskych kmeňov.
Jer 49,2 - Rabat Amon (Rabbat Ammon=Rabba Amon-čanov) bolo hlavné mesto Amončanov. Dnes sa volá Ammán.
Jer 49,3 - Dnes už nevieme, prečo spomína prorok mestá Hesebon a Hai. Mesto Hai neležalo v Zajordánsku. Hesebon bol síce blízko hraníc Amončanov, ale patril Moabčanom. Nevieme o tom, že by sa ho Amončania boli niekedy zmocnili.
Jer 49,4 - Slová v zátvorkách sú asi neskorším dodatkom.
Jer 49,7 - Krajina Edomčanov bola južne od Júdska. Hoci boli národom príbuzným Izraelitom – pochádzali od Jakubovho brata Ezaua -, správali sa k nim nepriateľsky. Ktorási časť ich územia volala sa Teman a bola chýrna múdrosťou (Jób 2,11; porov. Bar 3,22 n.). – Porov. toto proroctvo so spisom Abdiášovým.
Jer 49,8 - O Dedančanoch pozri pozn. k Iz 21,13-17. – O Ezauovi pozri pozn. k predošlému veršu.
Jer 49,13 - O Bozre pozri pozn. k Iz 34,6.
Jer 49,16 - Ešte sv. Hieronym (K Abdiášovi 5) dosvedčuje, že Edomčania bývali v jaskyniach.
