They shall die of grievous deaths; they shall not be lamented; neither shall they be buried; but they shall be as dung upon the face of the earth: and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine; and their carcases shall be meat for the fowls of heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.
Jer 15:2 - And it shall come to pass, if they say unto thee, Whither shall we go forth? then thou shalt tell them, Thus saith the LORD; Such as are for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for the captivity, to the captivity.

Jer 34:20 - I will even give them into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life: and their dead bodies shall be for meat unto the fowls of the heaven, and to the beasts of the earth.

Both the great and the small shall die in this land: they shall not be buried, neither shall men lament for them, nor cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them:
Lv 19:28 - Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
Dt 14:1 - Ye are the children of the LORD your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.

For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place in your eyes, and in your days, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride.

Jer 7:34 - Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: for the land shall be desolate.
Jer 25:10 - Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the candle.

And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt shew this people all these words, and they shall say unto thee, Wherefore hath the LORD pronounced all this great evil against us? or what is our iniquity? or what is our sin that we have committed against the LORD our God?
Jer 5:19 - And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore doeth the LORD our God all these things unto us? then shalt thou answer them, Like as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.

And ye have done worse than your fathers; for, behold, ye walk every one after the imagination of his evil heart, that they may not hearken unto me:
Jer 7:26 - Yet they hearkened not unto me, nor inclined their ear, but hardened their neck: they did worse than their fathers.
Jer 3:17 - At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart.

Jer 17:23 - But they obeyed not, neither inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff, that they might not hear, nor receive instruction.

Therefore will I cast you out of this land into a land that ye know not, neither ye nor your fathers; and there shall ye serve other gods day and night; where I will not shew you favour.
Dt 4:27 - And the LORD shall scatter you among the nations, and ye shall be left few in number among the heathen, whither the LORD shall lead you.
Dt 28:64 - And the LORD shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone.

Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be said, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;

For mine eyes are upon all their ways: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity hid from mine eyes.

Verš 18
And first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double; because they have defiled my land, they have filled mine inheritance with the carcases of their detestable and abominable things.
Jer 3:2 - Lift up thine eyes unto the high places, and see where thou hast not been lien with. In the ways hast thou sat for them, as the Arabian in the wilderness; and thou hast polluted the land with thy whoredoms and with thy wickedness.
Ez 43:7 - And he said unto me, Son of man, the place of my throne, and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel for ever, and my holy name, shall the house of Israel no more defile, neither they, nor their kings, by their whoredom, nor by the carcases of their kings in their high places.

Therefore, behold, I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know mine hand and my might; and they shall know that my name is The LORD.

Jer 16,2 - Jeremiáš sa pre službu Pánovu zriekol aj rodinných radostí. Bola to obeta v Starom zákone ojedinelá, veď vtedy pokladali za hanbu nemať rodinu; porov. Dt 7,14.
Jer 16,5-7 - Robiť si na znak smútku zárezy do tela bolo Izraelitom ako pohanský zvyk zakázané (Lv 19,27 n.; Dt 14,1). Zakázané mali aj strihať si na znak smútku vlasy alebo bradu. Možno, že v časoch Jeremiášových tieto zvyky už nepokladali za zakázané. Pozostalí v deň pohrebu sa obyčajne postievali až do večera. Večer im priatelia doniesli pokrm a nápoj, to bol chlieb smútku a kalich útechy. Pritom priatelia vyslovili pozostalým svoju sústrasť. "Dom hluku" označuje na tomto mieste dom smútočný; porov. pozn. k 9,16.
Jer 16,13 - Ľudovou vierou bolo, že v cudzej krajine musia ľudia slúžiť aj bohom tej krajiny. Jeremiáš to Izraelitom len pripomína, sám pozná a uznáva len jediného Boha.
Jer 16,14 - Tieto verše prerušujú rad výstrah a dávajú prísľub, že sa Izraeliti vyslobodia zo zajatia. Nepatria na toto miesto, vzaté sú sem z 23,7-8.
Jer 16,16 - Rybári a poľovníci – to budú Babylonci, ktorí odvedú Izraelitov.
