They will die from grievous mortal illnesses. They will not be mourned, and they will not be buried. They will be like manure on the face of the earth. And they will be consumed by sword and by famine. And their dead bodies will be food for the birds of the air and the beasts of the land.”
Jer 15:2 - And if they say to you, ‘Where shall we go?’ you shall say to them: Thus says the Lord: Those who go to death, shall go to death. And those who go to the sword, shall go to the sword, and those go to famine, shall go to famine, and those who go to captivity, shall go to captivity.

Jer 7:33 - And the corpses of this people will be food for the birds of the air and for the wild beasts of the land, and there will be no one to drive them away.

Both the great and the small will die in this land. They will not be buried, and they will not be mourned. And no one will cut themselves or make themselves bald on their behalf.
Lv 19:28 - You shall not cut your flesh for the dead, and you shall not make other figures or marks on yourself. I am the Lord.

For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: “Behold, I will take away from this place, in your sight and in your days, the voice of gladness and the voice of rejoicing, the voice of the groom and the voice of the bride.
Iz 24:7 - The vintage has mourned. The vine has languished. All those who were rejoicing in their hearts have groaned.
Jer 7:34 - And from the cities of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem, I will cause the cessation of the voice of gladness and the voice of rejoicing, the voice of the groom and the voice of the bride. For the land will be in utter desolation.”
Jer 25:10 - And I will perish from them the voice of gladness and the voice of rejoicing, the voice of the groom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstone and the light of the lamp.
Ez 26:13 - And I will cause the multitude of your songs to cease. And the sound of your stringed instruments will no longer be heard.

And when you announce all these words to this people, they will say to you: ‘Why would the Lord pronounce all this great evil against us? What is our iniquity and what is our sin that we have committed against the Lord our God?’
Jer 5:19 - And if they say, ‘Why has the Lord our God done all these things to us?’ You shall say to them: ‘Just as you have abandoned me and have served a strange god in your own land, so will you serve strangers in a land not your own.’

But you have acted even worse than your fathers. For behold, each one walks after the depravity of his own evil heart, so that he does not listen to me.
Jer 7:26 - But they have not listened to me, nor have they inclined their ear. Instead, they have stiffened their neck, and they have behaved worse than their fathers did.
Jer 3:17 - In that time, Jerusalem will be called: ‘The Throne of the Lord.’ And all the nations will be gathered to it, in the name of the Lord, in Jerusalem. And they will not walk after the depravity of their own most wicked heart.

And so, I will cast you out of this land, into a land that you do not know, and that your fathers did not know. And in that place, you will serve, day and night, strange gods who will not give you rest.
Dt 4:27 - And he will scatter you among all the nations, and few of you will remain among those nations, to which the Lord will lead you.
Dt 28:64 - The Lord 112 will disperse you among all the peoples, from the heights of the earth to its furthest limits. And there you will serve foreign gods of wood and of stone, which you and your fathers did not know.

Therefore, behold, the days are approaching, says the Lord, when it will no longer be said, ‘As the Lord lives, who led the sons of Israel away from the land of Egypt,’

For my eyes are upon all their ways. They have not been hidden from my face, and their iniquity has not been concealed from my eyes.
Jób 34:21 - For his eyes are upon the ways of men, and he examines all of their steps.
Prís 5:21 - The Lord beholds the ways of man, and he considers all his steps.
Jer 32:19 - You are great in counsel and incomprehensible in thought. Your eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of Adam, so that you may repay each one according to his ways and according to the fruit of his intentions.

But first, I will repay their double iniquities and their sins. For they have defiled my land with the dead bodies of their idols, and they have filled my inheritance with their abominations.”
Jer 3:2 - Lift your eyes straight up, and see where you did not debase yourself. You were sitting in the roadways, waiting for them, like a robber in the wilderness. And you have polluted the land by your fornications and by your wickedness.
Ez 43:7 - said to me: “Son of man, the place of my throne, and the place of the steps of my feet, is where I live: in the midst of the sons of Israel forever. And the house of Israel, they and their kings, shall no longer defile my holy name by their fornications, and by the ruinous ways of their kings, and by exalted places.

“Concerning this, behold: I will make it clear to them, in this turn. I will reveal to them my hand and my virtue. And they will know that the Lord is my name.”
Jer 33:2 - “Thus says the Lord, who will prepare, and form, and accomplish it; the Lord is his name.
Jer 16,2 - Jeremiáš sa pre službu Pánovu zriekol aj rodinných radostí. Bola to obeta v Starom zákone ojedinelá, veď vtedy pokladali za hanbu nemať rodinu; porov. Dt 7,14.
Jer 16,5-7 - Robiť si na znak smútku zárezy do tela bolo Izraelitom ako pohanský zvyk zakázané (Lv 19,27 n.; Dt 14,1). Zakázané mali aj strihať si na znak smútku vlasy alebo bradu. Možno, že v časoch Jeremiášových tieto zvyky už nepokladali za zakázané. Pozostalí v deň pohrebu sa obyčajne postievali až do večera. Večer im priatelia doniesli pokrm a nápoj, to bol chlieb smútku a kalich útechy. Pritom priatelia vyslovili pozostalým svoju sústrasť. "Dom hluku" označuje na tomto mieste dom smútočný; porov. pozn. k 9,16.
Jer 16,13 - Ľudovou vierou bolo, že v cudzej krajine musia ľudia slúžiť aj bohom tej krajiny. Jeremiáš to Izraelitom len pripomína, sám pozná a uznáva len jediného Boha.
Jer 16,14 - Tieto verše prerušujú rad výstrah a dávajú prísľub, že sa Izraeliti vyslobodia zo zajatia. Nepatria na toto miesto, vzaté sú sem z 23,7-8.
Jer 16,16 - Rybári a poľovníci – to budú Babylonci, ktorí odvedú Izraelitov.
