1 (WLC) דִּבְרֵ֥י יִרְמְיָ֖הוּ בֶּן־חִלְקִיָּ֑הוּ מִן־הַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּעֲנָתֹ֔ות בְּאֶ֖רֶץ בִּנְיָמִֽן׃
1 (VUL) Verba Ieremiae filii Helciae de sacerdotibus, qui fuerunt in Anathoth in terra Beniamin.
1 (UKJV) The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:

2 (WLC) אֲשֶׁ֨ר הָיָ֤ה דְבַר־יְהוָה֙ אֵלָ֔יו בִּימֵ֛י יֹאשִׁיָּ֥הוּ בֶן־אָמֹ֖ון מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה בִּשְׁלֹשׁ־עֶשְׂרֵ֥ה שָׁנָ֖ה לְמָלְכֹֽו׃
2 (VUL) Quod factum est verbum Domini ad eum in diebus Iosiae filii Amon regis Iudae, in tertio decimo anno regni eius.
2 (UKJV) To whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.

3 (WLC) וַיְהִ֗י בִּימֵ֨י יְהֹויָקִ֤ים בֶּן־יֹאשִׁיָּ֙הוּ֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֔ה עַד־תֹּם֙ עַשְׁתֵּ֣י עֶשְׂרֵ֣ה שָׁנָ֔ה לְצִדְקִיָּ֥הוּ בֶן־יֹאשִׁיָּ֖הוּ מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה עַד־גְּלֹ֥ות יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם בַּחֹ֥דֶשׁ הַחֲמִישִֽׁי׃ ס
3 (VUL) Et factum est in diebus Ioachim filii Iosiae regis Iudae, usque ad consummationem undecimi anni Sedeciae filii Iosiae regis Iudae, usque ad transmigrationem Ierusalem in mense quinto.
3 (UKJV) It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.

4 (WLC) וַיְהִ֥י דְבַר־יְהוָ֖ה אֵלַ֥י לֵאמֹֽר׃
4 (VUL) Et factum est verbum Domini ad me dicens:
4 (UKJV) Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

5 (WLC) בְּטֶ֨רֶם [אֶצֹּורְךָ כ] (אֶצָּרְךָ֤ ק) בַבֶּ֙טֶן֙ יְדַעְתִּ֔יךָ וּבְטֶ֛רֶם תֵּצֵ֥א מֵרֶ֖חֶם הִקְדַּשְׁתִּ֑יךָ נָבִ֥יא לַגֹּויִ֖ם נְתַתִּֽיךָ׃
5 (VUL) “ Priusquam te formarem in utero, novi te et, antequam exires de vulva, sanctificavi te et prophetam gentibus dedi te ”.
5 (UKJV) "Before I formed you in the belly I knew you; and before you came forth out of the womb I sanctified you, and I ordained you a prophet unto the nations. "

6 (WLC) וָאֹמַ֗ר אֲהָהּ֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהֹוִ֔ה הִנֵּ֥ה לֹא־יָדַ֖עְתִּי דַּבֵּ֑ר כִּי־נַ֖עַר אָנֹֽכִי׃ פ
6 (VUL) Et dixi: “ Heu, Domine Deus! Ecce nescio loqui, quia puer ego sum ”.
6 (UKJV) Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.

7 (WLC) וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֵלַ֔י אַל־תֹּאמַ֖ר נַ֣עַר אָנֹ֑כִי כִּ֠י עַֽל־כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֤ר אֶֽשְׁלָחֲךָ֙ תֵּלֵ֔ךְ וְאֵ֛ת כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֥ר אֲצַוְּךָ֖ תְּדַבֵּֽר׃
7 (VUL) Et dixit Dominus ad me: “ Noli dicere: “Puer sum”, quoniam, ad quoscumque mittam te, ibis et universa, quaecumque mandavero tibi, loqueris.
7 (UKJV) But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for you shall go to all that I shall send you, and whatsoever I command you you shall speak.

8 (WLC) אַל־תִּירָ֖א מִפְּנֵיהֶ֑ם כִּֽי־אִתְּךָ֥ אֲנִ֛י לְהַצִּלֶ֖ךָ נְאֻם־יְהוָֽה׃
8 (VUL) Ne timeas a facie eorum, quia tecum ego sum, ut eruam te ”, dicit Dominus.
8 (UKJV) Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with you to deliver you, says the LORD.

9 (WLC) וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח יְהוָה֙ אֶת־יָדֹ֔ו וַיַּגַּ֖ע עַל־פִּ֑י וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֵלַ֔י הִנֵּ֛ה נָתַ֥תִּי דְבָרַ֖י בְּפִֽיךָ׃
9 (VUL) Et misit Dominus manum suam et tetigit os meum; et dixit Dominus ad me: “ Ecce dedi verba mea in ore tuo;
9 (UKJV) Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.

10 (WLC) רְאֵ֞ה הִפְקַדְתִּ֣יךָ ׀ הַיֹּ֣ום הַזֶּ֗ה עַל־הַגֹּויִם֙ וְעַל־הַמַּמְלָכֹ֔ות לִנְתֹ֥ושׁ וְלִנְתֹ֖וץ וּלְהַאֲבִ֣יד וְלַהֲרֹ֑וס לִבְנֹ֖ות וְלִנְטֹֽועַ׃ פ
10 (VUL) ecce constitui te hodie super gentes et super regna, ut evellas et destruas et disperdas et dissipes et aedifices et plantes ”.
10 (UKJV) See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

11 (WLC) וַיְהִ֤י דְבַר־יְהוָה֙ אֵלַ֣י לֵאמֹ֔ר מָה־אַתָּ֥ה רֹאֶ֖ה יִרְמְיָ֑הוּ וָאֹמַ֕ר מַקֵּ֥ל שָׁקֵ֖ד אֲנִ֥י רֹאֶֽה׃
11 (VUL) Et factum est verbum Domini ad me dicens: “ Quid tu vides, Ieremia? ”. Et dixi: “ Virgam amygdali vigilantis ego video ”.
11 (UKJV) Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what see you? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree.

12 (WLC) וַיֹּ֧אמֶר יְהוָ֛ה אֵלַ֖י הֵיטַ֣בְתָּ לִרְאֹ֑ות כִּֽי־שֹׁקֵ֥ד אֲנִ֛י עַל־דְּבָרִ֖י לַעֲשֹׂתֹֽו׃ פ
12 (VUL) Et dixit Dominus ad me: “Bene vidisti, quia vigilo ego super verbo meo, ut faciam illud ”.
12 (UKJV) Then said the LORD unto me, You have well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.

13 (WLC) וַיְהִ֨י דְבַר־יְהוָ֤ה ׀ אֵלַי֙ שֵׁנִ֣ית לֵאמֹ֔ר מָ֥ה אַתָּ֖ה רֹאֶ֑ה וָאֹמַ֗ר סִ֤יר נָפ֙וּחַ֙ אֲנִ֣י רֹאֶ֔ה וּפָנָ֖יו מִפְּנֵ֥י צָפֹֽונָה׃
13 (VUL) Et factum est verbum Domini secundo ad me dicens: “ Quid tu vides? ”. Et dixi: “ Ollam succensam ego video; et facies eius a facie aquilonis ”.
13 (UKJV) "And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, What see you? And I said, I see a seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north. "

14 (WLC) וַיֹּ֥אמֶר יְהוָ֖ה אֵלָ֑י מִצָּפֹון֙ תִּפָּתַ֣ח הָרָעָ֔ה עַ֥ל כָּל־יֹשְׁבֵ֖י הָאָֽרֶץ׃
14 (VUL) Et dixit Dominus ad me: “ Ab aquilone pandetur malum super omnes habitatores terrae;
14 (UKJV) Then the LORD said unto me, Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land.

15 (WLC) כִּ֣י ׀ הִנְנִ֣י קֹרֵ֗א לְכָֽל־מִשְׁפְּחֹ֛ות מַמְלְכֹ֥ות צָפֹ֖ונָה נְאֻם־יְהוָ֑ה וּבָ֡אוּ וְֽנָתְנוּ֩ אִ֨ישׁ כִּסְאֹ֜ו פֶּ֣תַח ׀ שַׁעֲרֵ֣י יְרוּשָׁלִַ֗ם וְעַ֤ל כָּל־חֹומֹתֶ֙יהָ֙ סָבִ֔יב וְעַ֖ל כָּל־עָרֵ֥י יְהוּדָֽה׃
15 (VUL) quia ecce ego convocabo omnia regna aquilonis, ait Dominus, et venient et ponent unusquisque solium suum in introitu portarum Ierusalem et contra omnes muros eius in circuitu et contra universas urbes Iudae;
15 (UKJV) "For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, says the LORD; and they shall come, and they shall set every one his throne at the entering of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Judah. "

16 (WLC) וְדִבַּרְתִּ֤י מִשְׁפָּטַי֙ אֹותָ֔ם עַ֖ל כָּל־רָעָתָ֑ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר עֲזָב֗וּנִי וַֽיְקַטְּרוּ֙ לֵאלֹהִ֣ים אֲחֵרִ֔ים וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲו֖וּ לְמַעֲשֵׂ֥י יְדֵיהֶֽם׃
16 (VUL) et loquar iudicia mea cum eis super omnem malitiam eorum, qui dereliquerunt me et incensum obtulerunt diis alienis et adoraverunt opus manuum suarum.
16 (UKJV) And I will utter my judgments against them concerning all their wickedness, who have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands.

17 (WLC) וְאַתָּה֙ תֶּאְזֹ֣ר מָתְנֶ֔יךָ וְקַמְתָּ֙ וְדִבַּרְתָּ֣ אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם אֵ֛ת כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֥ר אָנֹכִ֖י אֲצַוֶּ֑ךָּ אַל־תֵּחַת֙ מִפְּנֵיהֶ֔ם פֶּֽן־אֲחִתְּךָ֖ לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃
17 (VUL) Tu ergo accinge lumbos tuos et surge et loquere ad eos omnia, quae ego praecipio tibi; ne timeas a facie eorum, alioquin timere te faciam vultum eorum.
17 (UKJV) You therefore gird up your loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command you: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound you before them.

18 (WLC) וַאֲנִ֞י הִנֵּ֧ה נְתַתִּ֣יךָ הַיֹּ֗ום לְעִ֨יר מִבְצָ֜ר וּלְעַמּ֥וּד בַּרְזֶ֛ל וּלְחֹמֹ֥ות נְחֹ֖שֶׁת עַל־כָּל־הָאָ֑רֶץ לְמַלְכֵ֤י יְהוּדָה֙ לְשָׂרֶ֔יהָ לְכֹהֲנֶ֖יהָ וּלְעַ֥ם הָאָֽרֶץ׃
18 (VUL) Ego quippe dedi te hodie in civitatem munitam et in columnam ferream et in murum aereum contra omnem terram regibus Iudae, principibus eius et sacerdotibus et populo terrae;
18 (UKJV) For, behold, I have made you this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brazen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.

19 (WLC) וְנִלְחֲמ֥וּ אֵלֶ֖יךָ וְלֹא־י֣וּכְלוּ לָ֑ךְ כִּֽי־אִתְּךָ֥ אֲנִ֛י נְאֻם־יְהוָ֖ה לְהַצִּילֶֽךָ׃ פ
19 (VUL) et bellabunt adversum te et non praevalebunt, quia tecum ego sum, ait Dominus, ut eripiam te ”.
19 (UKJV) "And they shall fight against you; but they shall not prevail against you; for I am with you, says the LORD, to deliver you. "
